  • Here's how to replace a seized or faulty front brake caliper on a 2006 Ford Fiesta 1.25. This should be the same process for all non ST model Fiestas of this shape from circa 2002 to 2008.
The front caliper on this car was completely frozen and the central piston wasn't moving at all so there was no braking on one of the front wheels.
Upon taking off the front wheel it was obvious someone has not long changed the brakes pads and used (a lot!) cooper grease everywhere. While I don't mind copper grease and often use it myself, there was too much used here. It seems they tried to free up the caliper with it and were unsuccessful.
This is an easy job to do and shouldn't take more then half an hour to complete.
List of tools and parts used:
Wheel bolts on the Fiesta are 19mm, if you don't have the socket you can get some deep impact one cheaper here:

    Allen/Hex Key socket:

If you need to replace the brake pads these SHOULD fit all mk 5 Fiestas except for the ST but please make sure they are the correct ones for you before buying:

Copper Grease - IT'S EVERYWHERE!! - useful stuff but don't go crazy with it!

Set of brake pipe spanners - if you have and 11mm regular spanner you can use that but if not then it's better to get the right ones for the job:

Holts Rustola - WD40 should work just fine if needed but I've found this stuff tends to penetrate more efficiently:

Brake Caliper - this is for the FRONT RIGHT:

If replacing the other side FRONT LEFT then you need this one:

Again with the Calipers please make sure these are the ones you need before buying - if you measure the thickness of the brake disk and it's 22mm and vented then these are the right ones - but always check!
    DOT4 brake fluid:

    Brake cleaner spray:

Brake bleeding kit - this one is the cheapest, it gets the job done if you are doing it alone but if I were to buy one again I'd probably get something a little more robust, however at this price you can't complain:

This is how I did the job, I am a just a car enthusiast and not a professional mechanic and have basic poor mans tools. The video is meant as a guide for entertainment purposes only. If it helps someone that's fantastic but if in any doubt then always consult a professional mechanic before undertaking a project yourself.
