- Backpack Hero Part 22 - the backpacking adventure continues! My first real run has me learn the true power of the club, which is significantly better now than a year ago.

Note for the editors: zooming in on the items is super helpful for the most part, but when it blocks out information (mainly the energy cost in the corner) it is minorly annoying (not trying to be rude or anything)
I think cutting it and putting the info on the side would be great. They did that in the last episode and a lot in peglin. Might take a bit more work but its better for viewer.
Also do it when Tyler takes any item so I dont have constantly pause and rewind :)

genius naming
some notes :
- items with light blue back n forth arrow on the top right means they have multiple forms, which can be toggled with extra options from right click, or by rotating the items sometimes
- items with red sideways arrow on the top right means they have an alternate use, such as dice, which can be used with right click
- hazards stay ON TOP of items, they do not take space in your inventory, but blocks you from activating the tile they are on
Also note that transformations mid combat tend to cost energy to do, but out of combat they don't. also I believe for most effects hazards are on top, but I believe for arrows they are considered taking space still, lowering the damage. could be wrong tho.
Also hazards will deactivate the item behind them if they fully cover that item. So for a 4 space shield, all 4 spaces have to be covered for it to be unusable. They're also not related to curses at all
@@chaosstripe9446 used to they were called curses, but do the exact same thing hazards do now, replacing the name and textures.
@@clreyawesome3527Sort of. The main difference is that unlike original curses, hazards disappear if left in your pack rather than continuing to take up space and being nigh impossible to remove
@@aaronscott7467 yup. They tinkered around with curses for a while until they inevitably chose to make them hazards with way less annoying effects. Frankly, I enjoy this new version much more, makes it more reasonable to be more common too.

The shoe hat can be rotated to be a shoe or a hat with slightly different effects.
I was so surprised when I found a normal shoe as every time I found one it was always as a hat

If you get two clubs you can use each once for one energy. Still giving you the ability to block and bonk things allot.

yeah, for honey or slime and such, normally if I'm confident I can win in one or two turns I just throw them on my fattest item/stuff without a Use effect and get my kills before they cover my important stuff
It’s interesting you say that about the club - the changes were kind of meant to be a nerf. Making its cost work the way it does makes it harder to build around just the club - you usually want a club for support, and a regular weapon for your damage. One of the other characters, Tote, has the old version of the club, but with a situational restriction.

Here's an idea - TWO clubs. It works
@@Alex.HFA1 Two clubs is just okay. It still doesn't get you past two attacks per round, so it really isn't that much better than one club and a support weapon, since you'll need a third weapon to get that third hit in anyway. Two clubs on 4 energy is a little better, though.
@@joshuadee7423 It's a Common weapon, so we shouldn't overemphasize how strong it should be. Still, with enough Energy or Clubs, it's a workable build, which is impressive for a common weapon.
Since you did the sponsored video, I’ve remembered that I already have the game and got back into it. I’ve now mostly finished the story, although I still have two characters to unlock. So, for a few tips related to the story mode:
- Build a few houses before your next run. That’ll increase your population so you can demolish stuff and really get the ball rolling.
- Decorations are something you’ll unlock later. They tie into the Efficiency stat; depending on the placement of stuff around a building, it can become more effective. That means stuff will sell for more at the store. Later on, you’ll get buildings that will produce the meta-currencies (building materials (hammer), food (cheese), and treasure (shield) )while you’re in the dungeon; there Efficiency means they’ll make more stuff. Efficiency can’t go below 100%, btw
- Be very careful about selling everything. The thing you saw at the Library was the research screen. You have to spend stuff to unlock the stuff on the left; it can be as specific as an individual item, plus meta-currency, to as general as a gem. To get items, you need to finish a run with them. I’m this because I know, for a fact, that you need three Wooden Swords to unlock stuff, and getting them will only become harder as runs get longer.
- You haven’t unlocked the second area yet. If you look at the very end of the description of that special run, you see that it says it ends after Area 1. You’ll know when you unlock new areas, trust me.

I love the edits at the beginning. One I would suggest is the inventory nightmare screen from resident evil 4.
Shoe Hat can be turned upsidedown for another effect. Found that out when being silly. Keep an eye on symbols or right click to see if it can transform.
The library lets you research relic type items. Research has to be completed before that item will show up in the dungeon. Unfortunately Quilllswish's questline is necessary, as he unlocks three more research buildingqs for weapons, armors, and consumables. Those in turn unlocks more questlines and more research buildings, such as for bows, magic, and gems.
I do really like the story mode. The research/unlocks system pushes me into builds/keeping items I'd normally never touch. Even to unlock items I don't really care for, because those might get used to unlock other items. And the quests do similar, I would ignore most of them were they just challenge runs, but since they often unlock things...
0:50 Actually, you should have taken it, because Hazards, unlike the old curses, are temporary and go away when combat ends.
8:27 Something that you didn't seem to notice about the shoe hat is that you can transform it (or just rotate it) to use it as a shoe rather than a hat. Flip it turnways and it'll get "For each row above this +1 block"

shoe hat is also a footwear armour, you just need to rotate it, it's also much better as shoe than hat
I'm the only Rivals of Aether fan here, and I'm popping off over the Leaf Katar and Sweaty Towel of all things in this game (yes this game has crossover items with Rivals of Aether for some reason). It's specifically Maypul's katar and Hodan's towel btw.
There's a mechanic with the shoe hat you don't understand, try right clicking.

It's because the runs are shorter and he probably wants to stick with one run per episode

The shoe hat can be rotated to function as a 1 slot boot (+1 defense for spaces above it) and is actually good when you use it for that. They added a lot of cool features and I'm loving playing it

cool little idea is to have a "recap" in the start of the video and it's just a small paragraph about the lore in the game , it's their for a second and you can pause and read it and every time more lore is added you just add it to the recap

Club used to be even more op back in the day. The energy cost used to not increase but the rest of the stats were the same or similar enough that It didn't change much.

This update looks like it has promise! I played the free version and started to get bored of it after a dozen runs or so.
Because you are playing this again, there is a mobile game that is a rip off version of this and they only changed sprites and music of the demo version

It isn’t even possible in-game - you can’t have two Leaf Katars at once.
It used to be that if you put two Leaf Katars next to a Spring Gem, you could play them for free to reset each other, and you’d get a damage infinite. That’s why they have the Unique tag now.
