A Croatian watching the video. I'm glad to see this man so happy and full of life when talking about our neighbours, we all have a lot in common and it just brings me joy. Pozdrav iz Hrvatske, sve najbolje i samo opušteno :)
I miss my Serbian friend dearly. She disappeared and I never heard from her since, and now I’m afraid I may never meet a wonderful and beautiful Serbian like her again... Jelena if you are alive and well I wish you the best, and if your time had come and I didn’t know then may you rest in peace sweet girl ❤️
Interesting, as a Serb, I've never thought about any of this, it just comes naturally, but when I listen to someone, mentioning all these stuff, my heart's in my mouth...
Best advise for being in Serbia as a foreigner is this: If you show respect and love you will get 10x more respect and love from Serbs in return. Show disrespect and hate and you will probably bet fked up 10x worse than in any other country.
I've got tickets to be in Novi Sad in June. Hopefully things are open by then. Will be there with my family to see about a bigger move there. I love Serbia, People, Food, best place in Europe!
Serbia is amazing, you didn't say many things about Serbia and Serbs, we don't have huge storms or huge fires, tempetures are almost perfect, we don't have dangerous insects, snakes or animals in general, Christmas in Serbia is all about church and spending time with your family, all day is just so relaxing and people get along very well, we like to eat Leskovački roštilj, drink beer and rakija, we have a lot of pretty girls and pure nature, we have a big history, Novak Đoković was world champion in tennis, our scientist Nikola Tesla found electric light, and so on.. But thank you anyways, greetings from Serbia! ❤
No matter where you are from American or German asian or black, Serbians will still show you a good time, politics gets left behind once you enter Serbia, our speciality is Music, Parties, Food and Rakija 🤣🤣 and make sure you visit many historical sights, castles ect and if you are party freak EXIT is festival for you, we even have food festivals 😍
I was born and raised in Serbia but have been living in the US for the past two decades. And I must say, not mixing salty and sweet really is a thing. I still can’t stand it that everything has to have extra sugar here. Peanut butter and jelly, yuck. Very accurate description of Serbs. Oh yeah we love our sports. Even though I’m an American now, I still cheer for Serbia and feel so proud when we win.
Everything that you have said depends on where were you living in Serbia. Northern and southern Serbia, for example, are like two different countries. From tradition to food there are big differences between this two part of Serbia. Even the language they are speaking is a little bit different. Northern parts of Serbia are more influenced by Austrians and Hungarian, and southern part by Turks. So you could roughly say that north is more civilised than south. I think that if you would taste Serbian pljeskavica somewhere in southern part of Serbia, you would think of american burger as a joke. Again on the north you have other kind of food specialties, as well as in the eastern or western part of Serbia, and that makes Serbia one of the best countries to visit for food enthusiasts (as long as they are not vegetarians, because we also eat a lot of meat). But one thing is in common for all of us, we are great hosts, and we love every guest, no matter where does it come from. And, no we don't hate any USA citizen, we hate your government because of the propaganda against Serbian people, and the fact that NATO bombed our country and killed few hundreds of civilians. They have even bombed maternity hospital. Also, they have used nuclear waste for bombing causing the number of cancer patients has jumped by over 100%.
As a Serbian who moved to Slovenia, I kinda miss Serbia :'( Although I take every opportunity to go to Belgrade and visit my grandparents or go on a small vacation somewhere else in Serbia.
Yes, we do have basketball as well. In fact, if you count the old Yugoslavia, we are the third best nation in basketball, following USA, and Russia (USSR).
Thanks for sharing your impressions and actually taking time to understand our culture. Wish you best of luck and best of times when ever you happen to visit Serbia!
4:11 It's not Mother's Day, it is International Women' Day (also celebrated worldwide) . It is celebrated on 8th March and it is all about the emancipation of women. :D
Loved your video it feels very genuine and sincere 🥰👏 Thank you very much for your insight and kind words about my culture. The world was given such a awful impression of it through the years because of false politically driven media . One more thing i loooooove butter with honey on toast bread 🤣🤣🤣 grew up eating it, or for instance margarine and jam is quite common. All the same thank you once again truly appreciated this vid. 😊🙏
Actually, we are not anti-American...at all! We are anti-establishment (American... or any imperialistic establishment, for that matter)! Just to clarify that.
One thing that he didn't mention is the importance of soups. A typical meal in Serbia always always starts with a soup. So much do that when we don't have soup we tend to ask what happened. And no we're not monsters we do eat honey with butter. While it is true that we don't eat peanutbutter and jelly that is not because we don't mix sweets and salties it's because we just don't tend to eat peanutbutter, it's pretty expensive.
Hi mate, nice review of Serrba thank you for putting a good word our behalf. No, we hate no nations, just no one for centuries won't live us alone because of geographical position and we are a small country. We have been in more than 100 wars, never get to rest ever. We have been stomped by Rome, we were under Turkey 500 years, for more than 2 centuries Germany won't live us alone, USA, NATO bombed us with the US support. Just an example, our pilot took down US pilot, he was saved by Serbs and now these 2 pilots are good friends can you imagine. I'll try jam and peanut butter :)
Not all people are good at the music. Food preferences are individual. I don't know about others but i was keep nagged by my mother to eat bread with almost everything.
Might be interesting to know about the original reason behind all that loudness that's a mandatory part of a wedding celebration in Serbia (many people in Serbia don't know this, but they just do it anyway): In the ancient pagan patriarchal tradition, when a woman is getting married, she is passing from a spiritual protection of her father and ancestors, to the spiritual protection of her new husband and his ancestors. While she is passing between the two, she is for a brief time without protection, so she is vulnerable to any evil spirits/demons that may want to attack her. Making noise (shooting, banging drums, ringing bells, etc... and nowadays honking horns and shooting fireworks) serves purpose to scare the demons away (other than that, of course, it's just a spectacle, but now you know the roots).
Brat je ok,ali izgleda da 95% nije razumeo haha 2 bozica, odbojka bitnija od kosarke, harmonika 3 instrument i naravno "vozmja svatova po gradu cisto radi zezanja"haha brate pozdrav
Lovely video! Thank you... there are few corrections, but I’m not going to brag about it... from what he experienced I can tell that he had a great time... thang you so much for being great ambassador... ☺️ we are not anti American... we never were... NATO yes bomb our country (if you do research you’ll figure that it was a lot of politics around it, so much that even 30 yrs later we still have problem with Kosovo and Metohia Illegally anexd from serbia at the time.. at the time Almost all our big Allies were against us... but we blame politicians and not and never American people... serbia was in great American alliance, serbia give Nikola Tesla, Mihailo Pupin and many other great scientists, sports players (vlade divac) and military heroes that brought huge positive changes, not to US only , but all over the world... they changed the world as it is.. for ever... 🙂 we are stronger together... peace ✌🏻 and prosperity I wish to also very special on your own way, amazing American people... 🤘🏻🥰
Let me reassure you, I know a lot of families with no talent what-so-ever for music ;-) A lot would "force" their kids to attend "music school/academy" though.

Serbs love people, it doesn't matter where they come from, we may hate politicians from the USA or the UK or the EU, but people don't

Thank you for sharing this wonderful words about Serbia.
There's lot more to the orthodox Christmas in Serbia then fireworks, but I don't blame you, because most of it happens in homes and churches.
Serbia is the best country!!!

Serbs had wars, pandemics and other but they always get out of it and quickly regenerate their country.
Thank you my brother :)

Hello from Serbia.... Village is name Baranda South Banat
On every mother's day my male classmates buy chocolate and flowers to all of us.And it's really beautiful.
Actually, we are not anti-American...at all! We are anti-establishment (American... or any imperialistic establishment, for that matter)! Just to clarify that.
Appreciate you putting out a few good words on us 🙏🏼
We do eat butter and honey. But butter (margarine) is not salty, it is neutral.
2:22 You forgot basketball which is Serbian sport #2 after soccer. After those 2 is a dead race between waterpolo and voleyball
I think you meant to say that american food is pretty much fake, and in Serbia is actual food
As my Serbian dad would say when i ask him ”would you want bread with that”: WHAT? i eat bread with croissant, gimme that!
That is why we are so skinny and good looking, we just don't eat sweet to much! Our main food is salty. 😊
I don't think modern Serbian music fits in with your description but there are a lot of older Serbian songs that deserve the praise
Brader Thank you

Best place in Serbia is "Sremski Karlovci" called city, its most historical place in Serbia!
7:20 one correction, its pretty usually to see people who eat slices of bread with both.
Most Americans are not Pro-U.S. anymore, so... :-)
Thank you for compliments, best of luck in life.

"They are basically firecrackers" 😂 how accurate 😂 Pozdrav iz Srbije ❤
Serbs move to USA for better economy, americans move to serbia for better life.
Ja sam Srbin. Dobrodošli u Srbiju
There is a special relationship between America and Serbia. The great hero of Serbia, Nicola Tesla, was an American citizen.
Let me reassure you, I know a lot of families with no talent what-so-ever for music ;-) A lot would "force" their kids to attend "music school/academy" though.
