    I could tell just from the stars. Early Pokemon cards were much more subtle, like you said. Anything with a very bright, starry holo isn't going to be from the first few years.

    This is exactly why I’ve avoided buying first edition charizards I stick to shadowless ones but even so it seems there are fake shadowless ones as well. Ugh this hobby is getting so dark. I’d rather get a beat up real one than one in such good condition it made me question its authenticity. The real deal is going to be 23 years old and it’s BOUND to have some signs of wear and fade. Color isn’t the biggest indicator but that’s what I would look for. I have a shadowless card to compare to which helps. In general I’ve gotten several scammy products I’ve shown on my channel including a fake gold strip shadowless deck. Really beware of sealed products these days as well. As hard as it can be to open stuff it’s worth it so that eBay can at least get your money back. Tons of fake XY evolutions boxes… now seeing tons of fake first edition stamp charizards… I’ve been saying this about the charizards for months how are these random sellers hiding behind a random picture of a Pokémon selling multiple 1st edition cards worth tens of thousands ??? Where are they sourcing all these ?? That’s my question when I come up on a seller who’s got listing after listing of 1st edition zard.. the seller “Crunchy Cards” sells them all the time and I got a fake gold strip theme deck from him and I have a gut feeling many people got ripped off by him. Maybe it was just me but people have to really do their due diligence.

      It really is very scary. And that’s very true, when I see a raw 1st edition Charizard in mint condition, I always look over it very carefully. It’s very rare to find a mint one these days that isn’t graded! 🔥

    Man I'm still confused because there seem to be many different versions but I'm pretty sure I bought a fake. Would you mind telling me your thoughts:
    -its supposed to be a first edition base holo charizard
    -it has the first edition stamp that looks like in the right place and front looks correct
    -it has blue wings and has the shadow at the bottom and right (this makes me think it's fake)
    -holo is pretty subtle. Looks to be worn with small scratches
    -the thickness looks normal
    -the back of the card does look different compare to the newest cards

      I haven’t seen a proxy myself with the correct holo, so I cannot comment on what exactly to look out for with that one.
      But if the card shown in the video had the holo matched exactly, the next way to tell is by the colour and quality differences of the print. Harder to tell on the front, but it’s possible. And there’s a large difference especially with colour on the back.

  • @youcanthandlemyname7393

    im worried about a major crash in the Pokémon market if they continue to improve the quality of fake cards. ive heard that some mtg fake cards are so good even grading companies get fooled so if that happens to Pokémon and the ability to make these cards gets too wide spread we are all in for a shock. problem is unlike money its not illegal to make fake cards so whilst doing things like collecting money is pretty safe collecting anything else that is printed is not. home printers are getting better and better and whilst Pokémon company can keep updating their printers so modern cards remain impossible to copy the fact is the most valuable cards are the vintage ones and they are the most at risk of becoming easy to fake due to advancements in home printer technology. the worst part is i dont think there's any way to stop this inevitability. pretty soon everything from vintage comic books to vintage cards will be able to be faked by any one who has a home printer and the right materials to print on.
    never forget that the home printer itself is the result of printing press technology becoming smaller and cheaper so now every body can buy a printer that can do even more than the original printing presses that they had back when only the richest publishers and news papers could afford them. this is also true for everything from the microwave to the home computer. eventually the technology will reach a point where everything modern day industrial printers can do will be able to be done by any one who has a home printer.

    • @cardizardoz7290
      @cardizardoz7290  2 роки тому

      Very interesting and scary stuff for sure. The print is fairly convincing on this card alone but the holo gives it away. I would hope there would always be a way to tell for at least the experienced eye. Scary that grading companies are being fooled, that’s not good enough on their part I think, because that’s what’s they’re paid for.

    • @youcanthandlemyname7393
      @youcanthandlemyname7393 2 роки тому +1

      @@cardizardoz7290 honestly there's could be a ton of fake cards out there already that are indistinguishable from real cards so we just don't know that they are fake. if you think about it if your a criminal organization like the mafia would you rather try and counterfeit 100$ bills that have tons of security features, cost a ton to make, and are protected by law. or would you rather counterfeit a shadow base set Charizard that can be sold for thousands, are cheaper and easier to fake, have almost no security features, and are not protected by law. thing about criminal organizations like the mafia is they can afford industrial printers and they can buy off printing companies to get ahold of the things they need to print what in almost every regard is a real Pokémon card.
      sadly these are the things you need to keep in mind when dealing with any investible product. once we start seeing psa 10 1st ed shadow less base set zards flooding the market we will know we are screwed. this is why i think Pokémon company needs to invest in more security measures for there cards so its easier for people to tell if they are fake and harder for people to fake them.

    • @MrSt3nc
      @MrSt3nc 2 роки тому +1

      Soon PSA will have to carbon date the cards to see exactly how old it is. I guess people could find the right card stock from 99 to trick carbon dating too though

    • @youcanthandlemyname7393
      @youcanthandlemyname7393 2 роки тому

      @@MrSt3nc well we are still a long ways off from home printers that are able to do what industrial printers can i think. but the more valuable the cards become the more valuable fake cards become so i would not be surprised if the feds find massive Pokémon card printing operations in the future.
