  • In this episode, Aaron attempts to build a new custom steering setup for late model Dentside Ford trucks. The issue with the factory steering is that the bar is no longer remanned by any large companies, hence the price has reached over $400 to replace the front steering bar. This video is applicable to 77.5-79 F250-F350 trucks and is intended for entertainment purposes only. Dentside Depot accepts no liability for the installation of custom offroad parts and equipment. The manufacturer used for these parts is Sky Manufacturing as found in the below link:

    I am still working out the bugs on this, but I feel pretty good that a 52" bar with this setup will work and is way better than a factory setup. I will make sure to return to this video down the road once I have it properly sorted. I film everything as it goes in so when problems occur, they make the final edit.

      MOOG DS923 is the defunct part number for a factory replacement

      Update to this video, the 52" bar fits perfect with enough room to go as tight as 56" for total toe out on center. Mine is set to 56 3/4" total toe before putting a laser on it for a final measurement.

      Stick with the 205 transfer case put a low max in it🤙🏼

    • @DentsideDepot
      @DentsideDepot  Місяць тому

      @@valve-do3jc Yes I considered that, but then I would need to do the bigger input and output shafts, twin sticks to make it remote, build a custom support bracket setup etc., and that would be 2 gran just in parts. My plan is to carry a backup transfer case with me on long trips in case the chain blows because it certainly can happen.

      @@DentsideDepotif you want to get rid of the np205 i'd be interested in it. I just bought a 76 f150 4x4 with the np203 and warn conversion on it. I'd prefer the np205.

    I have a 56f100 project a 74f100 project a 78f250 camper special that was my daily driver until the 460 block or head cracked on me last november. I just recently bought a 76 f150 4x4 and also recently subbed and liked your channel. Thanks for all of the info on these dentsides.

    I did that same mod to my kingpin Dana 60 Ford about 5 years ago it works great. I didn’t buy a kit. I pieced it together. I also put a crossover high steer. use a tapered reamer to make the hole slightly bigger so the castle nut would fit.

      Nice, you have the offset GM Tie rods?

    • @valve-do3jc
      @valve-do3jc Місяць тому +2

      Yes
      The dana 60 is under a 98 Ram 2500 which is converted to super duty leaf springs.

    Better write this info down , so you don't buy a dodge ball joint, when you needed a GM one...take it from an old man who can't remember what he ate for lunch yesterday......😅

    I have a 78f250 2wd and i bought a new drag link for it even though there wasnt anything wrong with it in 2020. You say they dont reman it anymore. Is that for the 4wd 250's 350's only?

    the trouble is.... Nobody makes stuff like this for my 65 F250 4x4 project. I am trying to gain power steering and disc brakes, I have a high pinion dana 44 from a 78-9 F250 already in place. Electric Power steering?? give me some ideas if you can. Thanks

    • @DentsideDepot
      @DentsideDepot  Місяць тому +2

      Anything pre 1967 is tough for sure. I honestly cant give you a solid answer but i would consider swapping in a newer axle. The slicks have almost no aftermarlet support for 4x4 stuff since the production nunbers of f250 4x4 is so low

    • @BillyLintzenich-wf7sk
      @BillyLintzenich-wf7sk 21 день тому

      Cant you install a electra-steer unit on it? I have factory power steering on my 78 f250 and my 76 f150 4x4 and those pumps suck. I thought about going with the saginaw pumps but i dont know which route is better.

      @@BillyLintzenich-wf7sk from what I’ve read and seen it’s best to go with a Prius electric steering system. It has a safe mode which allows it to operate without an airbag being hooked up. It installs in the column under the dash
