I don’t know how to explain it but this game is so much less fun to me than Balatro. It feels bad to play. Balatro is fun because it’s a game you can think about, but also can intuitively play by sticking to synergies. I just can’t get my head around the systems in this game. Am I stupid?
it's probably just personal preference the games are quite different if you don't know what to do intuitively I'd either build around a card like scratch or try to get your deck to stand on 20 or 21 consistently you could easily do that with a 10 and aces deck
No, I felt the same way. Watching him play and having like 20 different things thrown at him is probably the culprit and was more than enough to put me off of this game entirely. Am I not patient? Or am I just overwhelmed with so much knowledge that I simply don't care anymore? Maybe both. Either way, IMO the game is terribly designed at trying to show you how to play without throwing you in with so many different rules and effects you have no idea about.
Agreed - I think it's because so many of the cards are so complex. Having 4 keywords on a card seems like poor design. It should either not exist, be very rare or be very grokkable / elegant.
Balatro is by far the superior game. Everything in Balatro is built around a single, hyper-balanced gameplay loop while this game is full of unrelated gimmicks.
I think I realised the 0.5 card is like getting a bonus in DnD that lowers your crit from a 20 on a d20 to 19-20, it literally increases your crit rate from 21= blackjack to 20-21 = blackjack
As a professional poker player and someone that has been enjoying the Balatro train immensely... I don't play blackjack and it just doesn't interest me at all. Even in a roguelike format. I'll be skipping these but I hope everyone that does watch enjoys. You would think someone that is so deep in the weeds of gambling would still enjoy this, but for me BJ just seems tedious and boring.

And second, Dungeons and Degenerate Gamblers is an awful name. It's too long, you can't really shorten it, it's not funny, and it's embarrassing.
