He was and is one of the most respected people in India, who had done so much for the country as a scientist, president and more importantly as human being. He belonged to Islam, but he followed other religions as well. He was proficient in Quran and Sri Bhagavad-Gita, which is an important religious text of hinduism.
After he completed his tenure as President of India, he refused residence provided to former Presidents and went to Anna university, worked there giving lectures, stayed in a modest house, as he wanted to devote all his time along with students.

Wheather its IT,electronics,aeronautical,civil etc. Also he is an inspiration for entire youth of India.In my school days I remember when he came to our school and there was pin drop silence by all notorious students the moment he raised his hand who earlier were shouting and playing. This is the kind of love and respect he used to get from students.
ISRO is one of the leading space research organisation today, just because of Dr. Kalam..

After his presidency he went back to Chennai to the Anna mail university as a professor !!!! I can say My dad had met him during a book publication in his office and I have the picture of my dad and the honest man APJ Sir !!
