Great feature. I tend to have this issue with bib shorts too. At around 78kg and 183cm tall, so you'd think I'd fall into the clothing brands sizing criteria pretty well. However, my thighs seem long for my leg length, and most shorts, if they fit in the pad and backside areas will be too short on the leg. Some good advice in the video about what to look for. Despite riding for over 30 years, I didn't appreciate, "long", bibs were a thing!

180cm and 63kg and I have the exact same problem. I bought new shorts last week and as usual the waist fitment is fine but the leg length or rather lack of leg length sucks. Up-sizing to get a longer leg is pointless as a belt with cycling shorts is definitely not cool. Awesome video!

I've been wearing Rapha Thigh Warmers (not for sale anymore), just to get an extra 4cm of length on my Rapha Pro Team Long size medium bib shorts. Mavic and Pactimo make thigh warmers. They're not as comfortable as just wearing shorts but they are nice in temps about 14 to 20c.

I am 186cm and 60kg. Doing quite good with Santini Bibs, because they have very (!) good grippers on the higher end products and so leg length is okay for me. Best one I have is an old one from 2XU in size XS but sadly this was discontinued. Still searching for a cargo bib but without luck yet...

Went on the same journey as you several years ago and also landed on the Endura Pro SL long leg. I’m 198cm and 82kg, so not as slim as you and I don’t have issues with getting bibs to fit my thighs, but the length on these is great. Also really nice quality and not too expensive, although the price has gone up since I bought them.

Your videos are getting so professional, NJ! This was pretty funny for me, I used to wrestle decades ago. With your measurements, if you wrestled, you would be referred to as a spider lol. If you were ontop you could drape your arms and legs totally around an opponent on all fours, easily, which is why we would refer to you as a spider. I was about 10 lbs lighter than you and 5" shorter. Now I am 20 lbs heavier than you (healthier weight). Your mentioning the reference for how you measure is great. I went to bibs, so comfortable and it reminds me of wrestling - similar shoulder straps. Nukeproof has a bib that has ample length, you might try that but maybe not the quality you are looking for. The legs are a bit big though. 2 rear pockets and 2 minis on each thigh, which i love. I now wear baggies, i have a plastic bottle shirt that works great, not having a shirt hugging me, plus my gut is a bit big. For trails and shopping i like wearing an mtb overpant - wiping out on the trails easily puts holes in our expensive bibs, a bit hot, but not bad for wet commutes, shopping and off roading. Thx again for your great vids. I love your background wheel. I am thinking of making a lamp from an old 26" wheel, i gave one wheel to someone who's brake track delaminated.

198cm, 75 kg! This speaks to me! I'm actually using the 7Mesh MK3 bibs in small and found that they work fine but maybe a bit too tight down there. Thank god the shoulder straps feel so good because otherwise they wouldn't work for me. I have ordered the cargo version in medium and should get it next week. Hoping they are perfect for me. I really like the seamless look too.

I've always used some pretty expensive bibs but shy away from Assos because they were just crazy expensive. I saw their latest model of the Mille GTO on sale for $100 off so I got a pair. When I first went to put them on I was thinking this can't be right, they are way to small. But low and behold they were the right size. The material stretches out to form to your body in an amazing way. They come in to versions a regular length and a long leg length. I like long. They stay down and don't creep up my legs and the comfort is unlike any other bib I've used. You might want to give them a try and if you don't like the fit you can always return them. They also have a two year warranty. I've never gotten a set a bibs to last me even two years.

Have a look at la passione, the minimal bib shorts have excellent grippers and compression. Don't let the indicated inseam length fool you. I am 181cm and 70kg, and take a small, it's perfection. The material they use for these bib shorts are super stretchy.

+1 on La passione, 6'3 and 150 and got a medium in the PSN bibs. They are the longest bibs I own and the straps are by far the most comfortable I've ever worn. I do wish now though I followed their size chart more closely though and got a small as the seat of mine while off the bike feels a bit loose.

I agree with you about the 7mesh bibs, although not as slim I’m 188cm in height and find the leg length far too short. Pity as everything else about them is good. Ive started to get pedal mafia bibs from Perth in Aus, super comfy and great longer leg length. Aussie sizes are bigger than the Italian/Raphael/et al so you’d have to ask them about the leg length at the size you’d be looking at.

Glad I found this at 187cm and 65kg I have similar problems, I’ve found Castelli good for very slim fit on the bibs even getting away with XL despite what the size guide says. however the shoulder straps still are a little short and mess with my posture.
Annoyingly a general rule of thumb for clothing has been if it’s the most expensive legit pro team tier I’ve found the sizes tend to get taller not fatter but it’s not always the case and gets very expensive. I have the same issue with mountaineering kit too with my long arms

Hello, second comment as I've just remembered the Castelli oomloop bib shorts are EXTRA long, and go almost over most mere mortal's knees. So long in fact, that I need to think twice before wearing them on a sunny day, because the tan line will be just above the kneecap.

@@davomccranko Normally size XL with the bib shorts of LP. I weigh approximately 78 kilograms and have - relatively - long legs compared to my torso. With LP there can sometimes be some difference in sizing between their products - because of the tight race cut. On the other hand, LP clothing usually has such stretch properties that it actually always fits well. At least with me.

This is so much the opposite of what I'd expect. I have thick thighs and I have issues finding jeans or shorts that don't feel like my circulation is being cut off without looking like dumpy dad shorts. While shopping for bibs, it always feels like they make them for those lanky looking guys in the peloton and not for people with thick thighs. I had no idea this was an issue. Endura makes long in certain models. Check carefully before ordering because the ‘normal’ length , which is the default, is egregious.
Also, Pactimo make long in certain models. Long to them is 26.5 cm.
An aside on Pactimo leg warmers and tights- they make them with zippers at the ankles. Super good feature not found from hardly any other mfr. . There’s also a nice thermal tight without pad- a nice option seldom seen. Pactimo seems to have it together.

But I did get it in XL and its skin tight everywhere. Unfortunately I don't have any comparison when it comes to the padding (only a MTB short with padding, but not really comparable), but I'm usually pretty comfortable in my Castelli on rides up to 100km. Will keep an eye on the padding situation though, maybe I was simply satisfied because it was better than no padding at all ^^

Tldr short recommendation at the end.
Ok so I'm am almost your exact measurements + 1cm in height. I have also struggled with bib length, and I had the v1 of the maap bibs for a long time. For me, those were great, but would sometimes slip. I tried the endura bibs, and like you said the length was great. Likewise, I also didn't like that they didn't have a gripper band and were just lazer cut. My biggest problem, however, was the height of the short up my stomach. It just really was not tall enough, and I would get a gap between the shorts and my small-xsmall jerseys if I stood upright, so for like the last couple of months I've been looking for bibs that were tall up the front. I tried the eroe bibs that someone commented. Those were still short and didn't stay in place for me, but were exceptionally tall up front.
I just tried the le col pro blackout bibs in a small, and these are perfect!! Nice, big leg grippers, really long (13 cm from the front of the knee/ 28-29 cm on person), and tall enough that they even cover my belly button so there is no gap to my jersey. Try them out!
    Tldr:
Try the le col pro bibs, it's like they are built specifically for lanky people.

I'm at the opposite end of the scale: I have very thick thighs for my height (183 cm) and I find myself quite often having to choose between bib shorts which fit the upper side of my body just fine but are way too tight on the thighs and bib shorts which properly fit my calves but stay way too loose on the body and shoulders. And the irony is that the models I've been used for years have started becoming tighter and tighter on the thighs for the same size as newer iterations were put on the market up to the point I had to move up from a size L to a size XL (even though all my other pairs of bib shorts are size L). And of course, because of that, the chamois-covered area is bigger than previously as well and is therefore misaligned.

They’re definitely cheap but I found they feel cheap too-they chafe horribly after ~1.5 hours or so. I’ve liked some stuff from Gore just because the straps and legs are often very stretchy but the inseams are a bit short. And I have found consistently that even the nicest Pearl Izumi shorts are super short + have straps that crush my 🥜. I’m going to try the Enduras out. Thanks for the rec and video fellow spider 🙏

Theoretically this video isnt for me as I can wear a size medium bib with 183cm and ~70kg. But with spider legs, it is also hard to find a well fitting bib. I went for Gore (I think C7) and it is a tad short, but has awesome straps. My favourite is the Rapha Core Cargo bib with its excellent pad and length. The straps could be a little longer. A mix of these two would be perfekt I guess.

Katusha ICON Long bibs - I have some and they are just brilliant. They add 4.5cm to their normal bib and they fit me a treat. I'm 185cm, 68kg, with a slim and V-E-R-Y long leg length, and these grip my skinny legs perfectly and look and work great. I take a medium and they come to just above my knee - the inseam measures at 30cm using your scientific measurement method, which is exactly what Katusha say they are. They say size Small measures 29cm, so I've no reason to believe it won't be true. I just checked the Katusha website and it looks like they don't have any available at the moment, but when available again, definitely worth checking them out. They do have Small in stock at Bike24 - ON SALE - if they ship to Japan. Good luck - and keep creating the entertaining content
