    For those a bit confused about what he described as the "mesh fence" material. What is pictured here is 1/2"x1/2" vinyl coated hardware cloth/welded fence mesh. It comes in a couple gauges. I think this is the 16gauge stuff.

      Yup and thats the most expensive parts but you can make a lot for 1 roll.

      What stores sells the 16 gauge cloth? I can’t find it to save my life. Plus what is the hardware he used to crimp the cage door? I need the little pieces name and the tool. Thanks so much.

      Chief, you’re fast to respond. Thanks so much. I found them clips. Much needed especially when using the 19 gauge hardware cloth. The 16 gauge is PRICEY! I don’t need 100 foot. It’s for personal use not commercial. Thumbs up Bruh.

      @@teamcq9204I just ordered all my stuff. Using 19 gauge coated wire I got at hm depot like 3x5 ft plenty🎉 for me for like 20 bucks. The tool you asked about which I dug a little for, is called j clip pliers. & a pound of j clips sold by a company called rabbitnipple. Its what amazon sells - same brand for twice as much so order direct from rabbit nipple

    Thank you Carlos for sharing your design along with the tips, they were very useful!!
    I have a question on the crimps for the loops. Did you use the same ones that were used on the cage door, or were they different? They kind of looked like they had two openings. Do they have a name?
    Thank you.

    I recognized Carlos from Thuy's videos, Fishing 24-7. I have been making my own snares for a while and these look to be pretty good. I wish the items used would have been posted with a where to buy. The crimps and loop ends I ended up buying at Bass Pro so mine are a bit different. I use both the .065 line but prefer 100+ pound leader. Only because I can get the crimps for it. I also like to mold in the lead weight.

      6000 is good, 8000 is even better. Makes life easy if you're hauling in an 8-12oz snare (or more) with a jumbo or two on it all day long.

      Hi Anthony,, I got the 16 gauge 1/2 x 1/2” from a fencing store from EBay. I bought a huge roll, like a 50 ft x 3 ft roll, it was expensive . I used the mesh for blocking gophers in my backyard and for making snares. You can buy 16 gauge 1/2” x 1” from lowes or home depot in a smaller size roll and just cut size accordingly. A snare is basically a rectangular box with a top, the key part is making sure the hoops flow smoothly and are facing up. Good luck and go get them.

    • @carlosfung5780

      Hi, The crimp sleeves are from Amazon type “aluminum crimping loop sleeve ferrule cable for 1/16”, the brand from mifengda is figure 8 style”which are easier to put the weed wacker line thru. The crimper tool you can get anywhere like harbor freight since all is does is compresses the sleeves. Good luck and merry Xmas to you and your family

    Question ❓ can we snare w 2rods from are yak?

    • @carlosfung5780
      @carlosfung5780 2 роки тому +1

      Hi Peter, I don’t know the legality of using 2 rods from a kayak but I tried 1 rod last year while waiting for my crab nets and it was hard to snare from the kayak because of the drift and swell. Snares are more effective when it sits in one spot long enough for the crabs to grab it, so snaring from the kayak might work when there is little current. Good luck and hope you get some crabs soon.

    • @TheLostAnchovy
      @TheLostAnchovy  2 роки тому +1

      Not sure about snaring from the kayak since it constantly moving and anchoring a kayak in the ocean is not recommended
