- How much copper is inside a hoverboard? Join me as I do a complete tear-down to find out. Once everything is scrapped out, I melt the copper, purify it and pour a nice ingot from it. I have a whole pallet full of electronics and appliances that I want out of my warehouse. I'm setting aside all the copper I get from each item in a separate stack so we can see how much copper I had sitting there worth of junk.

Thanks for checking out my video! Happy Scrapping and Casting! - Розваги
A little bit of effort sure pays off. Just rip apart over $100 in hub motors, to get around 6 bucks in copper.
The revenue from YT makes up for it 😉
@Scrap2Cast, yeah, but what about everyone else.
Who the F cares. This is a scrapping channel.
@@Scrap2Cast oh great, get an effin attitude cause you got called out on your b.s.
@artaxerxes2363 its a scrapping channel, not a resell on ebay channel. Get over it. Ffs the title of the video says “how much copper is inside” Without scrapping it, the question in the title wouldn’t have an accurate answer. Use your heads instead of jumping to conclusions 😉
Ya know, this is really cool. I just lost my dad a few days ago and I have inherited his…piles…of old stuff. Old old motors, tools, burnt out drills, etc. I have a lot to go through, but this video popped up and gave me an idea…
Brother, I’m really sorry about your father passing away. On a more happier note, I’m glad you stumbled across a method for going through his collection. After my grandfather passed, I went through the house after everyone else did and took the old door locks that were original to the house that he had in a cardboard box stuffed in the rafters. My intention was to scrap all the brass from the locks, melt it and pour myself a bar. After cleaning the bar I was going to stamp the bar as “Grandpas Brass” and stick it in my curio cabinet as a memorial for him. I still haven’t gotten around to it, but I will soon enough. Thank you for watching my video and again I am very sorry about the passing of your father. 🙏
Wow the hoverboards put out a lot more than I thought.
Yeah I was definitely surprised with what I got from them! I will never pass these up if I see them! Thanks for watching and commenting! 😁
Yes ... I was genuinely surprised at the amount of copper in those !!
and aluminum
They were definitely a treasure trove of scrap metal! I thought they were mostly plastic, and I had no idea those wheels were the electric motors until I started busting them apart. They were easy to unwind too! I think I spent maybe 15 minutes total unwinding those 4 motors. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend!
solidifying copper 🤤. An other nice ingot to the stack! great job!😁
LOL copper makes me 🤤too! Thanks a bunch buddy! Much appreciated!
I’m so happy, thank you, I had like 4 of these and threw them away, sad to know how much copper I could have gotten
Oh man, that super sucks! Live and learn my friend, now you know to hang onto them 🙂
4 X 2 wheels at easily $25 each, or take the time to rip them down for 6 bucks in copper a piece. Okay then.
@Dude_Slick the purpose of the video is to show how much copper you can get from them. Always someone who gets butthurt over scrapping. 🤣
Great video man good copper score
Thank you bro! Too bad the haters in the comments gotta hate 🤣
Nice video thanks for sharing 👍
You’re very welcome and thanks for watching! 🙂🍻👊🏼
Good stuff! Only thing I'd have done different would be stealing at least one of those magnet rings from the PM motors in the wheels. But I have a magnet problem lol. Great video as always!
Bahahaha! I tried prying one out off-camera and I destroyed two of them in the process lol. I scrapped out 50 hard drives once and still have a ton of those neodymium magnets within an arms reach. Lol I have a magnet problem too 🤣
I also hoard magnets 🤣
I guess I need to watch for hoverboards now.
I highly recommend them! Easy to scrap out too!
One word of advice, don't let your aluminum pile up to far or you will lose interest in melting it. I have about 4,000 lbs(literally) piled up 🤦♂️.
Dude you are so right when you say that!!! I just keep adding and adding to that blue bin! I’m thinking after the blue pallet series I’m definitely going to have to do a mega aluminum melt and call it the blue bin series 🤣
@@Scrap2Cast do it all in 1 video. 2x speed, slow for the pour.
@@AnonYmous-qg4ph I will definitely keep that under consideration! I’m kinda limited in my melting time. Long story but I get away with what I can do 😉
Nice size bar for the stack! You also got some good cast aluminum from them. 👍
Thanks man! I’ll scrap those hoverboards any day of the week! 😁
The sub woofer, was my favorite so far. 3 years working in a scrap yard. And never tore one apart. But did you take the copper out if the speaker.
I'm waiting on those roll around acts.
I consider them a pain.
Will you cut open the compressors for the copper. And strip the copper tubing out of the radiator's.
Patiently waiting: Chuck
Wow, I'm jealous that you worked in a scrapyard. I always wanted to own and operate one! I actually did not extract the copper from the woofer. From my experience they have always been pretty "light" on the copper. Plus it wasn't a decent brand of woofer in my opinion anyways. I do however have a larger powered subwoofer that I do plan on scrapping completley out, including the speaker. A Polk Audio. As far as the AC's are concerned, I am definitely going to extract as much copper as I physically can out of them. The Rads are definitely a pain in the butt to get the copper out of, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve. Thanks for commenting, your positive feedback and being a supporter of the series and channel :)
After watching this I'm happy I picked up 15 out the local skip
Hell yeah! They aren’t “that bad” to take apart. You can even remove the magnets from inside the wheel housings with a small cold chisel and turn that irony aluminum into clean aluminum. The weight adds up nicely!
If you poured a little wax in the mold prior to the copper it wouldn't have those pockets in the bottom
I’m definitely going to try that!!!
@@Scrap2Cast also any kind of carbon soot in the mold prior to the pour works well too. Like an oxy acetalyn soot from a torch without turning on the oxygen. That kind of soot works best.
I also heard that if I coat the mold with graphite it helps release the bars easier. I wonder if it would also solve the problem with the pockets / holes 🤔
Nice copper SCORE!!!
It's good to be a Scrapper...lol 🔥🔥👍🏻👍🏻😎😎
Keeping track of the Ingots. 🙂
Good video Bro!!
Thanks man! I live being a scrapper. All the stuff I scrap was destined for landfill to begin with. It’s a win / win for mother earth and my portfolio😁
Nice score? The value of the motors makes this a net loss of about $94. Not counting his labor.
It is a nice score if you are a scrapper. Tell me you're not a scrapper without telling me...
Not worth to scrap, those motors sell for more on eBay than the material is worth.
True but then I wouldn’t be able to melt the copper 😉
If they even worked that is... unfortunately we'll never know. The steel from the motors is probably in China somewhere and the copper was remade into something else :)
Have you priced out the different between aluminum cast, extruded, sheet and your pours? Curious which one has the highest value
I’ll be honest, I haven’t. The scrapyard that I go to get rid of the junk I don’t want never gives receipts. They just hand you cash. I usually ask the going rates when I’m there but I haven’t been there in about 4 months. The only
reason I go there is because they take everything and there is no paper trail which is a must for me personally
@@Scrap2Cast I have never recycled hand pours but I know grades of metals have different prices, was hoping that doing all of the work of a handpour would increase value to help justify the fun
@@todamnbad i definitely feel that no matter the grade, if you remove the impurities, it’s getting the metal closer to pure in my opinion. Especially with aluminum and copper. Brass is a different ballgame as it is an alloy of copper and zinc.
Your scrap yard takes ingots? Or do you sell them online?
My scrapyard does take ingots but I don’t sell them. I’m stacking them for a down payment on something in the future. 😁
Sooo.... not 200 pounds then? XD Nice one.
From the famous words of Maxwell Smart "Missed it by that much" :) Thanks for watching and commenting buddy! :)
無無謂製作!食飽飯等屎屙!😐😐😐😐😑😑😑😑😑😑
I apologize but I’m not sure what that means.
