Pack, in this video, Adbeel walks us through the pouring of a concrete engineered foundation for a 30x50 Metal Building in Benbrook, Texas. This Texas metal building will be used as a laboratory for our client, Kiewit Corporation. This project is fully engineered : Foundation and weld up.
Adbeel discusses when it is required to have an engineered foundation, which is when you need building permits. He also shares recommendations for when you should be having an engineered foundation, which is primarily for residential homes. Additionally, he explains why an engineered foundation slab is pricier than a normal slab and how it is done.
Furthermore, Adbeel shows us the electrical setup for these Texas metal building and explains why having a vapor barrier under the metal building's concrete is a must.

I’m the dealer rep with American Steel Carports 😉 and I like to study up on everything I can to know more about buildings and how to’s / best practices.
I’m taking a lot of notes from your videos.
You guys are crushing it!
We love to hear you are doing your due diligence! The industry is constantly changing and its hard to keep up sometimes HA.
Thank you for the feedback! We work with American Steel sometimes! Great company- we've personally had great experience!
Ok remove the electrial quote and what is the price for the engineered slab for this job. What is the thickness of the pour? Now for bonus points what would be the price for a non-engineered slab with the same slab thickness?
James - Great question! Engineered foundation pricing can only be given by seeing, assessing, and testing the soil and land where the foundation will go. The price for an engineered foundation typically increases between $3-4 /sq ft in comparison to non-engineered foundations. There is also additional pricing for the foundation plans. These plans typically include the soil testing, engineered design, and pre-pour inspections.
The thickness of this slab was 4"
As always site prep is separate from the pricing for concrete.
You have to stop using a head cam and looking around. Be smoother. Good videos
We actually dont use a head cam JR we use just a regular camera but in a construction site its very hard to keep it still.. We apologize! We did get a new camera with a stabilizer (: Slowly working on this! Appreciate the feedback!
