I agree with many who have said your lessons are superb. Well spoken without any pretentiousness or nonsense, and brilliantly presented. Kudos as well to giving Page high praise in your videos. Yes, he can be 'sloppy', but it's all about the feel which he does have in bundles.
Just have to say.. Started watching you ..years ago and then had to stop because Ytube was blocking your stuff and I just didn't have any money to pay to watch on your home page and I felt too guilty to watch for free. Your complete breakdown of this one song alone is..the best thing I have ever seen on Ytube and I have been watching it since the day it went on line. I still don't know how to play anything..because it has been a rough few years but Ytube finally recommended your channel to me again today and what a joy it is to watch and listen to you work. In fact, I just blew off an entire Sunday rabbit holed into reviewing all of my favorite songs you have covered. Just hope you are doing okay in these ..troubling times. and let you know once again what a special thing it is that you are (and have been) doing.
Flat picked this when I was a kid but was frustrated at all the variations I knew I missed. This video encouraged me to move up my fingerpicking skills a ton. Thanks.
Best instructional videos anywhere!!!! I am too busy these days to sit down and learn by ear, but you are covering every song I want to learn. Great job.......
Andy, I remember my son sitting in his stroller as a baby and me working from"The Complete" Led Zeppelin volume of ALL their music trying to put this song into practice from the tabs. This was over 30+ years ago! This was before...You! And UA-cam! Andy, somthing I have said for awhile now... I saw the Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show in 64...If "You"...and UA-cam was around then...I would have been on the Ed Sullivan show! Lol! 😆You are a amazing 👏 player and teacher! For me...agewise"the show" is almost over😢. My playing has gotten so good because of your lessons and guys like you, I ALWAYS wonder what could have been if I had the proper training as a kid! For now I'm happy just to learn a tune from you and play along with the record. Sorry for the long comment but you brought back a long lost memory from a much simpler time in my life! Thanks Ray 😉👍🏻 Boston!
My brother, I worship one God and that is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. With that said, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you have done for the guitar community as far as a mentor / teacher. You have taught me so much and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. When I heard you do landslide by Fleetwood Mac, I knew you were the real deal. Please keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you in your talents my brother.
You sir are an excellent teacher, thank you for the lessons, they are on point and so easy to understand. I wish I had more time to study all the classic songs you teach. God bless you!
man...thanks for the tunes....after years im still learning better ways to play songs...and you helped alot...thanks bro....im retired now....but im gonna donate some bucks when i can....please keep it up ....thanks..
The best guitar tutorials anywhere. I've been playing guitar off and on most of my life but never really considered myself much more than a fat fingered fret fumbler. Your lessons have advanced my playing more in a few months than anything else in years. My only regret is that I didn't have a teacher like you earlier in my life. Just sent a paypal thank you for your excellent and very much appreciated work! Cheers, Steve
Hi Man I found your channel recently and I am enjoying the way you teach. I have been learning to play acoustic guitar for a year now(fingerstyle), practicing everyday 3 hours at least and Iam surprised how Iam learning. Iam able to play a quite a few songs ex: goodbye blue sky and rain song that I learned from you. focus and practice is everything. Next month I'll be able to contribute to you channel. Thanks a lot
All of you're lessons are great. I would love to see some more Rolling Stones stuff. Maybe gimme shelter or Beast of Burden. I always try to watch other videos for them but Keith Richards mixes it up so much and they usually only teach one variation of the main lick.
Really nice lesson, just caught it for the first time! I just don’t know how to pick like you do, I flat pick it. Do you have a lesson on your picking style I can practice? I would really love to play with your picking style! Great lesson and it’s one of my favorite songs to play! Thanks
I love this lesson, you are an amazing teacher, and you play it like the original, compared to some other guys who kinda plays it their "own" way during a lesson. When you were teaching the lick, it was a little bit hard for me to follow up, and i had to go back all the time, because you were going so fast, so maybe if you did it once really slow, it would be helpfull. Otherwise perfect 🙏
+Shutup & Play - Guitar Tutorials Thank you for for all your superb lessons!! I was wondering if you would please consider doing a solo lesson on Led Zeppelin's Since I've been loving you? I am trying to learn the whole song, but the solo is really hard to learn. Thank you!!
+Mark Love Hey Mark, sorry I missed this comment! Yeah, that's a great song. I'll probably do it at some point, just not sure when. People love the Zep lessons, so I'm gonna do more for sure. cheers
Great stuff, thanks a lot! Finally a UA-cam guitar lesson for those out of their diapers. And it was a great idea to start with the demo of the whole thing. Actually, even that demo was enough to get 98% of the song, but going through the lesson afterwards was also a pleasure.
4:50 I know he stays beginning on the open A-string here, but I much prefer the consistency of open A string, 3rd E, 2nd E, 1st E, then open E, no matter the variation. Otherwise it sounds a little monotonous, at least when I’m playing the song acoustic only anyway. So what I been trying to do is playing it like this: The first part of the riff stays exactly the same. Starting with the 2nd part I use my index to play the low E string from where the bass does (3rd fret). 3rd part I barre index over the 2nd fret of low E and G, which is a little harder to do. Then 4th part is obviously just 1st on E then open E. By using this, the rest of the fingers can all remain in the same positions as before, and you can replace beginning with open A every time, with the bass part instead. I hope this makes sense, I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to musical terminology and guitar lingo lol. Just something I thought was interesting that it was possible, albeit a little more challenging.
Great work as always, man. But I have to admit there is one tone in the lick aorund 16:55 I do not like, and that's the Bb in the chromatic move on the A string. The whole lick is very flamencian, and I never met the Bb in A-minor scale there (in A major, this would be ok). So I would prefer A-B-C.
+carlolf Thanks Carloff. I know what you mean, it's an outside note in the A minor scale. It's a flatted 2nd which makes it phrygian, which works, just gives you a different color. I'm sure Jimmy wasn't thinking any of this when he played it though, he probably just liked that "outside" sound.
This video is incredible! Thank you so much for making this, I am so grateful. Hope you are doing well in these crazy times and I hope you can make some more Jimmy Page songs! Maybe the Rain Song next? Cheers from Toronto (:
I have very short hands... and even with a travel guitar my thumb can’t press the E... so , I have to do the F with the Barr to sound correct... oh well... adaptations... Thank you for the lesson. It will take some practice!! Great lesson, again...
Bravo and Thank you. I found your lessons and subscribed a while ago,...keep finding awesome lessons...you are the fuckin BEST. Love you playing it thru even shortened versions,...then covering basically EVERYTHING including all the little details those of us with the ears for it have noticed for years, and look for every time..
6:00-6:28 I cannot, for the life of me, stop muting the G string with my ring finger; the finger span is just too great a distance for me to be right on top of the string, yet you can get it to ring clear as day. Any general suggestions to try to fix that?
do you take requests by any chance? i've been dying to learn the solo to i put a spell on you by ccr but can't find an online tutorial for the life of me, thought i'd ask the pro
Yo man your lessons are so great!!! Only advice would be is go a little bit slower with the solos you play incredibly fast and it can be hard to learn from you sometimes I must have watched that babe I'm gonna leave you solo 100 times haha anyway thanks for the postings keep them coming!!
I agree with many who have said your lessons are superb. Well spoken without any pretentiousness or nonsense, and brilliantly presented. Kudos as well to giving Page high praise in your videos. Yes, he can be 'sloppy', but it's all about the feel which he does have in bundles.

This is an outstanding tutorial and in 30 years of playing it's one of my most favorite songs I've ever learned. Genius Jimmy Page.

Great demonstration of a Timeless Piece! You have nailed it !
I just made a donation but does not come close to matching the value that I have received from this teacher so far. Awesome presentations! Thank you!
You sir are an excellent teacher, thank you for the lessons, they are on point and so easy to understand. I wish I had more time to study all the classic songs you teach. God bless you!

12:25 On the outro - to keep B10 ringing, leave your ring finger on G9. So you're only moving the base note down one. Still sounds right to me.

amazing teaching! thanks. All the weird page nuances explained!
The outro! Thank you. It's the only part of the song I had issues with. I've played it different ways but always way too hard. LOL.
Excellent lessons
Jimmy Page is an absolute genius.
So is this guy for working it all out by ear!
Great lessons, they help a lot. Maybe you could do a lesson on Smokin by Boston one day. Thanks for the great lessons.
Such an awesome lesson and channel! I subscribed :)
Awesome lesson, Andy. I better nail this one before they make you it take it down too.
You’re really on it 🫡 And yes my version of the ending was that crazy insane fingering of it you’re talking about lol 😂
Perfect guitar lesson...thanks a lot
Great lesson once again!
The last chord comes from Jimmy Page's Yatdbirds days with the cover of You Stole My Love by Graham Gouldman!
Congrats! Great!
A bit late, but I think that Electric slide part was actually a theremin with some effects on it for an eerie sound. great tutorial!
Amazing tutorial! Thanks a lot!
The best of lessons!
Can't believe I see Robert Plant in comments I've always wanted to sound like him. I will.

your tutorials are great. I really enjoy learning all the classic rock songs. ever thought about doing one for Stairway to Heaven?
I can't believe ur doing a song I already know haha its my party piece... great stuff
Fantastic videos, thank you.

As always another great lesson!! How about Mountain's, "Theme from Imaginary Cowboy."
+musicrat51 Sorry I meant Theme from Imaginary Western.
This video is incredible! Thank you so much for making this, I am so grateful. Hope you are doing well in these crazy times and I hope you can make some more Jimmy Page songs! Maybe the Rain Song next? Cheers from Toronto (:

Did Page play this with a pick & fingers, or all finger-style like you are? Curious to know. You & your videos are awesome. Thanks a bunch.
Awesome tutorial thank you very much. Can you please teach some doors lessons please 😊
Is that a Taylor guitar
Thanks a lot

Yo man your lessons are so great!!! Only advice would be is go a little bit slower with the solos you play incredibly fast and it can be hard to learn from you sometimes I must have watched that babe I'm gonna leave you solo 100 times haha anyway thanks for the postings keep them coming!!
man i love u
That Taylor 214ce-K Grand Auditorium sounds great.....of course the player has a little to do with it ;)
sounds good but the real challenge is singing it well
You don't seem to have much trouble with it
If I sing in the shower I never get wet because the water runs back up the tube in fear!
hello c est bien vrais, bien le chanter est difficile, vous été le meilleure
You're jester:-) I would rather let some one else to sing it.
that;s on you Robert the guitar part is for Jimmy whith my compliments ;)
9:11 the acoustic ending
I'm not that great a guitar player, but I can tell, that you know your shit. ;-)
Thumbs up!
Good but how about the ending? I have yet to figure out the chords he played on the end.
Question:
Why can I only find this tab in the Led Zeppelin bundle?
Hi Matthew, contact me here about this: andy@shutupandplay.ca
Interesting alternative way to play, although different in a few parts than Jimmy Pages concerts and studio recordings
What was that thing you put on your finger during the electric part?
Zeppelinator 07 are you talking about the slide?
what kind of guitar is this?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
12:05
Why this video is not playable now...
ugh I'm super newbie I guess it will take forever to play this song hahaha
