Go for it George ! Its nice to learn the process of creating bonsai, the majority of mine i have developed myself. For me that is where the fun is ! but i have purchased a few species that are non native to where i live. Its a lovely hobby !
I hope to show the ongoing progression. The years don't seem to take that long to zip by nowadays. So before ya know it we will have a little tree, as usuall I can't wait for Spring to see those new buds/growth emerging.

Bonsai is for patient people! 5, 6 or 7 years. I prefer stuff that grows in 8-11 weeks. Fascinating for sure. Still going to give it a go.
Those short term projects are just as interesting from a horticultural perspective, Not that I had a 7yr old mother plant, ever ,Honest !
