When I bought my Discovery 2, 11 years ago, I specifically looked for one with springs. No air bags or ACE, as there is enough to go wrong without adding all that gear.
The Insurance people need to be told as well if you go from air to metal. Perhaps the air did not work because water had got into something behind the dash? Considering the state of the fusebox. Just a thought.
I have similar genuine LR 18” split rim alloys on my D2 V8. I have been reliably told that they were made for LR by BBS when LR was owned by BMW. This style of wheel was only available for the D2 & P38 Range Rover and was discontinued when LR was sold by BMW to Ford. These wheels were very expensive when new and are very rare now. Try and find another set!!! I had mine refurbished by Lepsons with diamond cutting a few years ago and that was expensive too. I would guess £250 a wheel now if taken apart and refurbished to as new condition. If you have a near mint condition D2 or P38 then the split rims are really the icing on the cake. However, I have the similar problem as you in that my D2 V8 is far from mint but my rare split rims are in excellent condition. If I were to sell my D2 how much difference would the split rims make to the value? Not a lot I suspect! As I’m not selling my D2 it doesn’t matter to me 😀

Thanks for letting us know. We have a few sets of wheels so maybe we will keep these!
