@@cato451 I think the new guy parker is better than gibbs has been in the last few seasons. Season 19-20 are better than seasons 17-18 by a lot. It's not the same show it once was, but the new team is still good. Mcgee, Jimmy, ducky and Vance are still around.
Great writing? Well later on that “great writing” turns into horrible writing when Ziva leaves and then Tony. These seasons with the OG team are the best seasons
Michael Weatherly played Tony in such a dynamic way. Tony could make you believe he was the leader of the group without making Gibbs look weak. In other episodes Tony would take a secondary role and play the sounding board. It's a dynamic that NCIS is missing in the team. McGee took on some qualities but losing Tony, Abby and Gibbs has been harder to make a cohesive humor but hard working team.
Ironically this is exactly how he died... choosing violence while an entire squad of NCIS agents were pointing their guns at him. He decided his fate right here simply by not learning from it. Tony was even the first one to pull the trigger.
1:52 "My car blew up this morning... did you do that?" When you first watch... you think it's just Tony trying to irritate Kort. When you rewatch the series, having seen Trent Kort's storyline play out... I'm actually curious if Kort had something to do with the attempt on DiNozzo's life... his way of trying to keep NCIS out of a CIA "operation".
Yeah, that's what I thought too. But after everything, when I watch it now, all I can think about is "Did he have it out for them from the beginning?" For e.g When they were chasing the Port to Port killer. Kort said that Ray was in a hotel but he wasn't there yet and I'm wondering whether Kort knew that or not 🤷♀
@deadshotred6007 Kort didn't exactly deny "he" had anything to do with the bomb in "DiNardo's" car. Just that "the agency" didn't have involvement. Kort could have been "semi-rogue"... basically no oversight... for years.
0:32 Was Kort asking where DiNozzo was...because he was concerned... or because Kort just tried to kill Tony with a car bomb and missed? Because he wasn't tracking the arms dealer at the time of the blast. Or he'd have known where the CIA "asset" actually was...
That’s was a big mistake on korts part , pinning tony against the wall while his protective father figure (gibbs) , little brother (McGee) and his highly skilled assassin who happens to be crushing on him (Ziva) I can only imagine that if Abby was also there she would of thrown a shift tone of chemicals at Kort

Ziva and McGee were the last ones to put there guns down because the are Tony’s best friends and they weren’t going to let some pissed off creep hold his neck.
Can someone please explain this "undercover" mission Tony was on? It seems more like they wanted to do a Tony love story, but give him an easy out so they tied it to Shepard's La Grenouille storyline. Literally all Tony ever does is date her. He never investigates anything when he's with Jeanne. The closest he came was check her email when her ex-boyfriend was harassing her. She wasn't involved in and didn't know anything about her father's business, so there was no evidence for him to gather. There were no warrants for her father, so if the plan was to draw him out to meet a prospective son in-law, they couldn't arrest him for anything. The fact is they leaned more from him singing in front of a restaurant one evening than he did from months of dating Jeanne. Add in that they keep calling it "deep cover" even though he went to his regular job at NCIS every day and went to crimes scenes, some of which had the potential to be on the 6 o'clock news.
Shephard blamed La Grenouille for the death of her father. She used Tony because of his undercover experience as a cop. He began dating the daughter as part of his cover but fell for her, hard. Eventually, Gibbs and the rest of the team got involved but soon discovered that La Grenouille was a CIA asset, helping find and eliminate bigger fish in the intelligence game. Shephard was obsessed with the man. She was convinced her father didn't commit suicide. In my opinion, her father was murdered, but not by La Grenoullie. Kort was likely the one to do it.
Okay so: 12 years before Season 5 (this episode) Jenny found her father dead having apparently killed himself after allegations began circulating that he’d taken kickbacks and bribes. He supposedly ended it to avoid prosecution however Jenny refused to believe (like a true daddy’s girl) that her father could take the cowardly way out and leave her behind without a goodbye. So she began her obsession fuelled charge up the ranks of NCIS. She repeated states that she chose her career over her personal life, this is why. The storyline didn’t show up in S3 as they were more focused on the development of Gibbs working for someone who used to be underneath him (in both ways). But during this she used her new resources to discover her target had more protection and less leaks than she had hoped. Learning that his only close family (besides ex-wife) was his daughter, between S3 and S4 she had Tony engage in a genuine relationship with her. Using the alias Tony DiNardo, there was no investigation, no questioning. He had one job: get close. Jenny believed that once she trusted him enough she would introduce him to her family (which she did), and that would be her way in. Once inside the inner circle Tony would be able to pass intel that was critical to ending The Frog. Gibbs slowly began to discover the depths of her obsession, first in a momentary lapse when she rants about how she’s been after him for years, then later when she questions Ducky’s psychological profile about Frog “Perhaps it’s clouding your judgment”. Despite everything, it’s clear from the moment S5 started that Frog knew Tony was a fraud and a fed. It’s also clear that Tony genuinely felt love for Jeanne. But what will never be clear: who killed The Frog? Kart claimed credit to continue CIA operations however there is always the little tease that Jenny was truly responsible.

The show was it's best the first 5 years, we got a lot of plot driven episodes, eps where you tried to figure out who the killer was and why they did it along with the cast. After that it was just a soap opera about everyone's feelings... well except for Gibbs, he lost every ounce of emotions after year 5/6. I thought bringing on Ziva was one of the stupidest things they ever did. Plus the day they had her character hear flies on the first floor of an open warehouse through the elevator while a radio played loud country music, unbelievable, after that they just made her Superwoman. Sheppard and Vance both left me cold, we saw very little of Morrow but I felt he was into protecting his people, Sheppard and Vance made me think that neither one cared about anybody but themselves. Abby was my favorite up until she started acting like a 5 year old, they took a strong, independent woman who was in control of her life and turned her into a whiney, bratty, child, her "Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs" just made me want to slap her. Tim was ignorable from the get go, and Gibbs just became a narcistic, overbearing abuser, he wouldn't let them eat, or sleep, made them look for evidence Gibbs already had. He never understood the title 2nd in command because he made his senior field agent compete against the junior agents. I liked Tony a lot at the beginning but they turned him into a caricature of his former self. I never bought the "he loves Ziva" because she did nothing but abuse him, since day one. They were heavily into destroying characters and I never got that. brat, her "Gibbs, Gibbs, Gibbs" just made me want to slap her. Tim was ignorable from the get go, and Gibbs just became a narcis
Shephard was a terrible director of NCIS. She used agency resources for a personal vendetta and ran a good agent ragged on shoddy information. Her death, while tragic, was a way for her to escape the consequences of her leadership choices. I, personally, didn't like her character much. Too arrogant.
