I honestly love it when Angelina and Sandro are on, and really all of your guests. But Angelina and Sandro are both like the cousins we don't actually have. Sandro's the cousin who'll take those chances and will gladly show you how to rig up a dry ice bomb, but will only watch you do it because he actually knows how dumb and dangerous it is. Angelina is like the smarter cousin who's experienced quite a bit and isn't afraid to tell us, "That will end poorly and you really don't want to be paying for that for 15 years while it's broken. I'm not saying one's better than the other, they're just like that part of an extended family. Angelina's gonna take you off-roading, camping, or whatever, but will absolutely tell you when you're doing something stupid, Sandro is gonna tell you how to do something stupid, tell you it's stupid, provide you with stuff to do said stupid thing, but he'll make you learn first hand how stupid it actually is. Angelina will stop you from shoving the fork in the electrical socket, Sandro will give you more forks and a car battery to do more experiments with as he stands further back for his own safety. Can't wait for the family reunion.

As a former owner of death traps like these I'm proud of the parking lot/ side of the road repairs I had to do just to get it back home and cobel it together a little better the next day to keep it going. I have used compression fittings on brake lines to get home. I drove around for months with plywood screwed down to my floorboard so my feet didn't fall through the rust hole. One time when I was on the way home from taking a car to the junk yard, dropped my rear drive shaft. I had to put the back tires of my truck on the car dollie was pulling, use ratchet straps to hold tongue of the dollie up, some barbed wire I cut out of a farmer's fence to hold the drive shaft up and limp it 6 miles home in 4 wheel drive. When i was finally able to aford to buy vehicles that didn't brake down every few months/weeks the guys at my local parts store thought i died because i stop coming in all the time. Bottom line if you're going to be poor and drive a rusted out shitbox you have to be a little creative and have some ingenuity to keep it moving from point A to point B.

My worst: I had an old Toyota, no clutch, a monster hole in the block, and a string tied to the carburetor for throttle. 🤣
It ran for about a year till syncro shifting dumped the entire transmission onto the road from the block back and died. I left it where it died somewhere in Sacramento.

You guys should check out heavy machinery videos. I constantly find engineer fails like the other day when I had to cut bolt to remove a starter on a 3 year old forklift and had to cut the replacement bolts because there was not enough room with the OEM bolts

I lost the retaining spring on the left rear calliper on my Saab, didn’t really think it mattered but a couple months later I lost my pad 😂, luckily I had a spare set and enough tools with me to fix it at the roadside but it taught me a lesson! Never lose your retaining springs 😂

8:28 I work at a semi truck shop, and we do some f350 and up trucks. I have run into trucks that have lost brakes due to eating through brake pads and the metal backing, and they fall through the gap between caliper and rotor. I have also seen people go to someone cheaper and have forgotten to put in a pad or the hardware for the pad. But those rotors look damn new for it to have eaten through the metal and the pad .

That third clip reminds me of when I helped my buddy JDM swap his ‘95 mr2. We did it in a weekend and we had quite a few bolts left over. One was really big and looked really important lol Needless to say he had a shop look it over after that. Then a couple months later it gets stolen and is never seen again. Luckily this is in like ‘08ish so tuner cars were still very affordable so he wasn’t out that much money. Think he paid $5k and it was super clean, loved the t-tops. Man I wish they’d bring back t-tops so bad!
Side note that was the hardest swap I’ve ever done and it was the engine that is designed to go in the car but it was like wrestling a bear in a very small cave

Brake Fade...
In 98 I was working as a chauffeur. This extremely overweight family (everyone was fat) needed to get from Ohio to a hotel in West Virginia for their vacation. There were 10 of them in my 16 passenger limo. Each one of them weighed over 200 lb. We had a second limousine that was a 10 passenger just carrying their luggage. First 3 hours of the trip was great. Then we started getting into West Virginia, deep in the mountains. The limo that I was driving was a 97 and if you didn't know all they basically do when they make a limousine is cut the car and make it longer they don't put in bigger brakes The only thing that they put in bigger is the alternator and springs 😳. Limousines are designed to drive around a city not for cross-country travel and definitely not for driving in the mountains and if you are driving in the mountains having a whole car full of people that weigh as much as a whole car is not a wise thing to do. We started going down this very steep hill. I am not using any gas and we are accelerating rapidly. I touched the brakes and then I let off because I'm a professional driver and I know that you can't just cook your brakes or you have none. With this much weight downshifting is an option but you can blow your transmission. I didn't have much of a choice. I hit the brakes and try to touch and go but as soon as I let off the brakes we would start accelerating rapidly. So I downshifted to second. This helped but the transmission was screaming and oh yeah it is a slow snake curve banking right And then left over the course of two or three miles straight down. As we are going around the curves I am now transmission in 2 in the car is going about 80 mph and the wheels are screaming. I'm still doing touch and go with the brakes to try to maintain control. I've never been so happy to see the bottom of a hill in all my life 😢😁. I started getting brake fade and I had nothing... And you could smell the brakes. We got down to the bottom of the hill and I pulled in the rest stop and told everybody to go use the bathroom and take their time because we were going to be there for the better part of a half hour, to 45 minutes to let the brakes cool down. These people were complete assholes and upset that I was making them wait. I didn't give a damn My job is to pick them up in one piece and drop them off in one piece and I plan on going home at the end of every day. When we pulled into the rest area the other driver said that he could see that my rotors were red hot. If you want to know what it felt like it felt greasy. The brakes weren't squishy It felt like somebody had thrown grease onto the rotors. When they get that hot before you ever get break fade the brake pads will squeeze against the Red Hot metal and it will actually cook the pad and turn it into a vapor which is not a friction surface because it's a gas and you will feel it. Brake fade is the last stage but you don't have brakes before then. I only had two oh s*** moments in 2 years of driving limousines and that was number one on my list. My pucker Factor was at a 15 on a scale of 1 to 10.
Sandro and Angelina are the best 2 mechanics for this series and I hope they stay as a permanent fixture on this channel. They’re both super chill, down to earth, know what they’re talking about and just over all really good people/mechanics. Really hope they stay and at the very least keep Sandro around “ FOR THE BOYS”!!!😂😂😂
2:00 They didn’t even know a common problem with the early 2000’s Chevys having rotted and snapped frames, having them say it was a rear end collision that caused it told me all I need to know, they can’t have too much experience as mechanics. They are good actors though.

@@jaredchampagne2752yeah, the replaced tail gate is a pretty good sign that there's a good chance it was a rear end collision. Maybe, they know their stuff.
@@kragoth1458 No not at all. Almost every early 2000’s Chevy that is rusted, has a replaced tailgate from a junkyard because the bottom rots out and the linkage stops working.
The truck literally has no bedsides left from rot and rust. There’s a 100% chance the frame snapped from rust.

Death trap that came from "Tires Plus" when a family member went to get all 4 brakes done on their 04 Pilot and they drove it maybe 180 miles in 6 months locally. I opted to buy the Pilot after those 6 months. I saw the bill for the brake work and inspection. Well "Tires Plus" repair thankfully didn't kill my GF and I.
I buy it and I am driving around and here a mild thunk (I assumed loose exhaust strap which when fix it stopped) when stopping every so often, no spongey pedal, no braking issues and heating up during city driving. Her and I hit the highway and thankfully it was a clear road ( I-95 into downtown Philly which 70-100 MPH is common. I was at probably 65-70) We come off the city and I tap the brakes and my rear wheel grinds a little. I'm in downtown traffic, park and think maybe my caliper was hanging a little but nothing major. Safe enough to get home. Tow was 4 hour wait and $320.
Well start driving home, no issues i notice in braking at surface road speed. So I get on the highway back. Rush hour is just about to start so I see traffic uphead and opt for the exit vs going to the closer exit to the house. I come off the exit around 40 mph, touch the brakes and it sounds like a bomb goes off in the rear, back driver side wheel locks up and i come skidding into the turn. I kept it under control and managed to not wreck into stopped traffic. I pull off with the wheel locked maybe 30 feet to a parking lot. I notice my tire is flat and I have a 100 ft skid mark off the ramp. I jack it up and think it probably was a blow out. Nope. "Tires Plus" failed to install the lower caliper bolt resulting in my caliper being ripped from the knuckle, punching through the rim and ripping the soft line in half and smashing the hardline. I pull the caliper and line, crimp the hardline and limp the 5 mins home after finding out the rim had a 1/2" hole through the middle from a buddies tire shop at that corner.
Final repairs were full rear knuckle, hardline, soft line, trailing arm, brakes, rotors, calipers, and rim/tire.
Fast forward a few days from this repair. I'm pissed this was how this vehicle was repaired for my elderly family and as I am heading to "Tires Plus" I hit the brakes again on the 2nd time driving this and i hear the wear indictors bite into the front rotors. I pull back to the house and find the "NEW BRAKE PADS" weren't actually new. Both pads were very much worn and now gouges in the rotors from this. They replaced the rear, missed the lower bolt. Charged for front pads and never replaced them and I had 54 miles from buying to over $1000 in parts to repair this to a safe vehicle. After this incident I was driving another family members vehicle who was on vacation so loaned me her Jeep to drive while I finished repairing the Honda. I was almost killed when a 100ft rotted tree fell on the Jeep at about 45mph. It crushed AB and C pillars, roof was on the passenger seat and crushed all but me. I have injuries still and this was 2 years ago. Had I not hit the gas at the last second as I saw the tree I would be dead. My GF skipped the ride 10 mins before or she would have taken the entire tree on her. Hitting the gas allowed momentum to keep the tree rolling off the Jeep. Had I braked when it happened it would have crushed the roof on top of me according to fire and EMS on scene. In both incidents had I been an inexperienced driver and just panicked in both situations I would have been dead or my GF and I would have both died.
1 is a death trap from shitty mechanics. Another was poor maintenance of roads and thoroughfares. Looking back 5 years this tree had been rotted and dead. It totalled 2 cars that night. After it hit me and rolled across the road a Prius hit it on the ground at close to 50 mph.
Sorry for the long comment but this is bad mechanics work that could have been worse had we hit the brakes on the highway and blown a tire, locking a wheel. Also the tree is something I'll never forget. It's been years and $10s of thousands in medical bills, chronic pain daily and likely will be multiple surgeries in the future because the tree maintenance company cut corners. Please don't cut corners, this is people's lives 🙏

The trailblazer platform with the broken upper rear control arms, I've seen it on 2 already, pushing 3 with my current one just starting to snap the upper on the driver's side. The problem is that the fender liner doesn't cover the control arms and grit, salt, sand, gravel and dirt rot the frame out right there via the factory frame holes and the bracket doesn't give clearance to even wash it out. The control arm locks up in the bracket then flexes until it snaps. I'd say it was planned obsolescence, good vehicles but you have to spray those out to maintain them or pull them to clean them out, just buy new arms. Neglected the frame will rot out, I have an example of that.
End note I'm absolutely a fanboy of Angelina. 😂
But yeah there's a few things on those SUVs that are devastating issues but I have 4 of them now lol

1:36 I can tell that was in Chicago. The I94 signs and the sides of the expressway gave it away. I grew up next to I94, where it runs through the northwest side of Chicago. I can almost always tell when a viral video was recorded in Chicago. The city just has a look to it that I can always recognize.

1:36 I've actually seen a truck in a similar condition with the frame bent like a taco, and they drove EVERYWHERE at 35, even in a 55 zone
