    This movie had a couple of brilliant moments. Having Bruce Wayne look at a random Rorschach ink blot and immediately assume it’s a bat is perfect for the character.

      I wouldn't go so far as call it brilliant. I think, being as intelligent as Bruce is... he'd know what a Rorschach inkblot would be, since he's inside an office of a psychologist. And he definitely wouldn't give himself away by mentioning it's a bat.

    Rewatching this as an adult and I’m clocking Dr. Meridian saying “You look so sad…” at 2:39-I never considered before that he might feel sad looking at that doll because it reminds him of how he failed his friend, Harvey Dent.

    • @masterexploder9668
      @masterexploder9668 Рік тому +10

      He looks genuinely sad and haunted, Val Kilmer carries it really well. Movie is pretty mixed, which I think somewhat ruins Val as well. Keaton explained some time ago that he left due to Burton also leaving the project and the decision to go in a "lighter" direction. Plenty of Schumacher's deleted scenes do show that tone of the original cut wouldn't actually be that much different from previous entries, but higher ups wanted a "lighter" tone and more plastic to sell more toys, apparently. Perhaps Keaton saw the writings on the wall and decided to bail out.

      I wish that there could be the slightest hint that Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent were friends, a framed photo of the 2 of them side by side on the wall of Bruce's office or in his study.

    I never noticed before how in playing Bruce Wayne Kilmer perfectly blended the ‘alpha male’ insouciance of the Brosnanian Bond with the ‘socially awkward dork’ who mumbles half-formed sentences and over-apologizes / gesticulates too much. It’s quite an underrated iteration of the character. He’s reduced to being a temporary fool because this woman honestly encapsulates him and reduces him to a stuttering mess, but _instantly_ he’s back on his feet, being suave and charming with zero embarrassment for his botched entrance and bad first impression mere seconds ago.

      Val Kilmer never quite received the credit he deserved as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Bruce is complex; Kilmer portrays him well, as a man who doesn't know how to fit in with everyone else. He's hiding so much under the exterior yet he is choosing to constantly play it all off as if nothing's bothering him even though everything about his inner world is. Kilmer shows these subtleties quite well

Conroy is fine in the animated series but still think kilmer is THE BEST Batman. High praise I know. My opinion is Bruce greenwood in Young Justice s1 and 2 is the best Batman voice. She wouldn't need to work out if she was submersed or doused in water because Atlanteans would be the aquatic equivalent of Superman.
      In a lot of fiction, water is a major factor for both strength and healing to Atlanteans. Such as if they are out of the water for too long, they would dry up like a fish and would require water to rejuvenate them back to their full strength, and if they suffered grievous wounds and internal body damage, water would heal them as fast as Wolverine and Sabertooth's respective healing factors.

It shows Bruce's peak physical and mental prowess, breaking that 2-inch-thick door with barely a 10-feet of momentum, and doing it on his first attempt while maintaining a clean gentleman look! Kilmer did a Conroy voice with the perfect attitude! Rorschach reference and Dr. Meridian being only 1 step behind telling Bruce's real identity without even realizing it (yep, Bruce Wayne is a mask, Batman is his real identity)! This was brilliant!

All big brains with better bodies for lower or middle classes. Perfect examples altogether. Even against jerks and idiots.

    _Batman Forever_ might have been the 2nd weakest film of the Burton/Schumacher Batman series (Though it could’ve been the 3rd best if they had released Joel Schumacher’s intended dark version), but you can’t deny this was one of the few great scenes from the movie and as well as Bruce and Alfred solving the riddles and the flashbacks of Batman’s Origins.
    Here it’s just a nice dramatic but mysterious scene where Bruce asking Chase about the riddles and questions about her possessions like the bat-like Rorschach and the Malaysian Dream Warden out of curiosity.

    • @kryptonianpowers
      @kryptonianpowers 4 роки тому +2

      Probably so since the *Watchmen* comics were made before the Burton/Schumacher *Batman* movies.
      And perhaps the Rorschach that looks like a bat is pretty much a nod to Dr. Meridian's study in medicine with a little hint of her romantic attraction to the Dark Knight.
