How to Clean, Etch and Seal a Stained Concrete Pad
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 сер 2023
- In this video, I show you how I seal my 1 year old front concrete pad. I built this deck over a year ago and never got around to sealing the concrete. After 30 days of the concrete setting, you are able to seal the concrete pad. Because I waited over a year, I had to scrub and ended up pressure washing the concrete to try and get rid of some of the stains. This is the first time that I did this so it is more of a ‘how I did’ vs a ‘how to do.’ Hope it helps!

Thanks for watching! 😃
Your videos are so good that I find myself going back to your older videos and watching them over again.
Having three children under 3 is a pretty good reason for not sealing it a year ago Matt, I'm pretty sure you can be forgiven 😅
Wow you had a Blockbuster membership card on you?!?! Nice!
Show-off! 😅
I keep mine in my wallet for good luck. :)
Came for the blockbuster comment. Was not disappointed.
Exactly
I’ve still got mine!
The Blockbuster card killed me, lol!
Nice job
My dude pulls out a Blockbuster card in 2023. I love it, not the mention the transparency you provided at the beginning of the video. You got yourself a like and a new sub. 👍 👍
😂 You never know when you need your Blockbuster card! Thanks for watching and subscribing!
Love the Blockbuster card. The good ol’ days!!
Yes!!
LOL! The last 20 seconds had me rolling. Gotta love the outtakes! Thanks for adding those. Great video as usual.
😂 Well you can expect them in every video from here on out. They are a fan favorite haha
Matt flexing on us with his Blockbuster membership card!
the Blockbuster card was a nice touch, cracked me up.
Always good to have on hand! 😂
I think you should put on your merch "This isn't a how-to video, it's a how I-do video" - love it ❤
I was buying some beer one day and got carded. While fumbling with my wallet for my ID, my blockbuster card fell out. The cashier saw it and said, never mind.
Thank you! Great work!
Nice job looks great. Thanks for sharing.
That looks great! Good job!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Your bloopers are hysterical! 😂
Totally awesome video.
Awesome job my man
Thank you for sharing!
Whalom Pahk, kehd!
Fab video Thankyou :) good to see you!
This is great info Matt and this project turned out much better than thought it would. Thanks 😊
For the first time doing it, I was glad it came out as good as it did too. Thanks for watching!
Your work is good buddy. Because of you, i am a bondo for life user.
I like this! Your porch, steps look great! I had forgotten you made that!
Nice job, Matt. 👍
Great job, Matt! I did this in the spring and had some stains that just would not lift. Also, I hadn’t laughed at all today until you blasted that pincher into a new zip code 😂 Thank you!
Haha REALLY not a fan of those things... guess they are called earwigs but as a child (when I first discovered my dislike of them) we always called them pinchers. Thanks for watching!!
That looks great. I like how the water did not penetrate.
Leaves stains (tannine stains) are removed with SH (sodium hypochlorite). Just make sure you do not mix the acid with the SH. You can bleach the concrete the day after etching.
He needs to bleach the concrete, then he may get a uniform look
This is the best channel to learn home improvements!!
Thanks!! 😃
( thought I have the pro tools)
I appreciate you doing this the most realistic to a home owner, (because you can always upgrade your work tools to be the best of the best but you can’t always downgrade )
Looks great...should last along time ❤
Love the Whalom Park cup! Going retro with that and the Blockbuster card!
Happy to see that you know Whalom Park! 😃
Good job
Nuclear bird s**t. Must of had Chipotle. Cracked me up. 😂
Looks fantastic! I loved the Blockbuster card! I wonder how long you’ve used that as a scraper…
Here in Seattle any concrete/cement that doesn't get sun exposure all day during the rainy season gets a layer of mildew. Annual spring job is pressure washing the entire east-facing driveway and blasting up a couple pounds of black gunk. Looks great until Thanksgiving.
Yuck!
It does get a little old around March when the daily driver start to grow mold and moss also! But at least we don't have a lot of snow!
Same in Ireland. Similar climate .
DOPE💯TiPS.💪💥👍💥👊💥
Matt I have that same exact watering can. I also did a double take when you pulled out the Blockbuster membership card.
😁🤣
잘 보고 갑니다
You have inspired me to take this project on. I can't wait to get started. One question...why didn't you consider building on top of stairs?
Whalom Park! 🎉
For a whale of a time!
wow looks so nice and clean, and nice that it will stay that way. i'd be too worried about messing up a blockbuster card lol, can't exactly get a replacement
😂
If I were to put this video on loop and then just have it play all night, would that increase your viewership for each time it played?
A Blockbuster card was on you? I thought they were all gone?
Looks great! Does the etch/seal help with winter snow and ice?
Thankful you kept the Blockbusters card handy. Just never know when you might need it. 😂
🤣🤣🤣 Nuclear birdshit?!?!?!? 🐦I am so glad you did this video. I just pressure-washed my patio a month ago and did not know you could/should seal it. Now I am going to go over it again, and seal it like you said. Hopefully, no nuclear birdshit issues. 🤣🐦 Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
Whalom Park!
Yes! 😃
yoo shout out to that old BLOCKBUSTER card LOL
😁🤣
You need a cement path 😊
A couple years ago you were going to do Vaulted (maybe you said cathedral) ceilings, thats something im going to do on a project of my own. Wondering if you were still planning on doing that project?
Great job Matt. Good to hear from you. Would love to join your patron but at 75 and on a fixed income just can’t sway it.
I totally understand. Just you watching is all the support I need. Thank you!
@@TheFixerHomeRepair thanks Matt.
Great post I was wanting to know if it got slick in the rain?
Excellent question.
Your “Nuclear bird 💩” made me laugh out loud, seriously!
WHY didn't you remove the first step riser to fully expose the concrete and prevent the acid from getting on the painted wood?
Because the miters are glued and probably would have ruined it. It is vinyl so I wasn’t worried about the acid.
The etching leaves it actually etched or it's only a cleaner?
why no walkway leading up to front door?
Great job. I suspect most concrete walkways and pards are not sealed.
Good video buddy. I have to admit at the start i was thinking whats the point but i do have to be fair it does look good. Do you know how long it lasts before you need to redo it again? If not would you be able to give us a heads up later down the line as to have its going please as i am very interested in doing this.
thanks for sharing buddy top job
It should last 1- 3 years for an acrylic sealant and 5-10 for epoxy and urethane. Hope this helps!
When I first got my pressure washer, I was cleaning the cement I didn't notice it was 'pitting' the cement.
Quite informative, and makes sealing concrete semms less intimidating. Love the out-takes! Def have that Masshole sense of humor! (nuclear birdshit)
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
🤣KEEP THOSE OUTAKES COMIN' FIXER!🤣
Absolutely! It is basically required now haha
I knew it was one when you brought out the Block Buster card 99.99% of your viewers won't know what that is 🤣🤣
😁🤣
I watch Concrete with the Hausas and after they are done working the concrete and maybe they broom it too, they seal it the same day.
All you need now is a path leading up to it so you dont tread mud over that and your steps 😊
Lol I still have my BB card too
How if at all does sealing help with ice?
How about the water that's coming from the ground? Wouldn't it make the stains under the sealant anyway, just like the water from the leaking pipe would make the stains on the wall?
Can’t do much about that I guess. 🤷♂️
I did this to my side walk don't water down the sidewalk befor you etch, this is why it did not clean everything.
Wish I knew that. Hopefully others will read this! Thank you!
Tannin stains from the leaves would have come out completely if you had used sodium hypochlorite aka bleach. Then moved forward with the etch process.
ha ha ha, old Block Buster Video Card, most won't even know what that is!
How are the babies doing?
Haha. They are all doing great. Thank you for asking.
And of course thank you for watching!
Couldn't it be stained for consistent appearance? Then sealed.
fuck ya i'm interested
Lol not Chipotle 😂😂😂😂
🤣
I’d buy a more powerful pressure washer, that one seemed inadequate.
Look into a cure and seal, you don't have to wait the full 30 days.
Interesting... 🤔 had no idea. Thanks!
Stains just look like a bird pooped mulberry poop on your concrete. That stuff just won’t shift.
Leafs didn't create those stains ...
What do you think did?
Or you can just paint that.
If you’re gonna use a watering can for this at least get a good one that showers out uniformity not just slop it on inconsistent af. Damn bro you make me wanna go help the idf terminate Hamas operatives 😤
what is that? a pad for ants?
Wow. When is the last time you cleaned out your wallet haha. That’s a 20 year old card! And Whalen Park. What decade is this?
