Gay means happy… kind of a lighthearted happy. It became slang for homosexual in the 70s. There was a popular movie from the 1940s called “the gay divorcee”. Means something different now! But I don’t recall hearing it used for homosexuals until probably the mid 70s.
I initially saw that this reaction was only episode 1 and assumed you didn’t like it! This story is generally pretty highly regarded (and it’s one of my favourites of the Second Doctor). The animation is usually also considered to be one of the best, although my personal favourite is the next story, The Faceless Ones. Glad to see you’re enjoying it so far!
I like the macro terror a bit but the next story is better in my own opinion and and it has a better guest cast in story and has a great profamce from Patrick troughon and Frazer hines and Michael czay
Ok just on the "gay" word subject what you need to understand is in the 1960's the term gay use to mean happy in fact in the 1960's a homosexual was usually often referred to as a "ferry" or "queer" and I don't like using this word but this is what they use to refer to them as an insult a "faggot" so when the Doctor says "Well this is gay" what he meant by that was this is a very happy place I can understand in 2024 to a modern audience the word "gay" would be misunderstood and used out of context because we're now use to meaning it as homosexuality but back then it meant happy sadly back then people couldn't open up about being gay because if people knew you'd be bashed or sent to the mad house the 1960's was a different world back then. There was also a scene that's cut out of the animation for cost reasons but was in the original episode there was a scene where Polly was getting her haircut done which is why she has short hair in the animation but she had that done after she left the TARDIS while Ben and Jamie were having a relaxation and there was a funny scene where the Second Doctor being known for his scruffy look was forced into a make-over machine to brush up and look cleaner and the Doctor hated how he looked so he went back into the machine and was over loaded and malfunctioned so with relief he got back to his scruffy look you should hear that bit in the audio which is a small but funny scene.
@@HamzaReactz the episode was taken off due to an actor/news presenter who goes by the name of Huw Edwards (who might be known for announcing the queen's death) has claimed to have paid a young person for sexually explicit images of them. The BBC don't think this will be a good look for them by including his voice in the episode. The BBC is currently working on dubbing over Huw Edwards voice and will put the episode back up after this process.
I personally felt this story was overhyped considering that I’ve heard it’s a lot of people’s favourite. The animation is terrific. But the story did nothing for me.
The first serial to introduce the new opening title sequence and the first to introduce the Doctor's face and a new logo.

Thanks for telling me :)

Welcome back! The Macra were also in a 10th Doctor & Martha story called “Gridlock” from series 3.
I think hamza remembers gridlock because the macra were underneath the last lane of hovering cars in gas.
Yeah I know, but thanks for telling me :)
