Love it. The paint scheme is ace, although I'd be going for all black if I could justify the cost of one. By far the nicest of the new range of aero bikes we've seen launched recently. I wonder what Canyon will do with the next Aeroad which was my previous favourite?
Not sure if you've done other bikes...how about MTS's Scott or Movistar's Canyon. Both these teams have half of their teams living in Andorra so I have seen the bikes close up and personal and they are GORGEOUS! Movistar is one of only 3 (I think) teams that use Campagnolo so it gives a chance to talk about Campag and make comparisons
The Lone Sculler I agree entirely. However I think it’s Specialized’s way of truly highlighting they have their own power meters now. You can’t miss it! Granted it’s actually a 4iiii power meter though.
That is one super cool bit of kit. I know that the colours kind of fit in with Bora Hansgrohe's corporate colours but I have ti admit that out of all of the colour schemes in the pro peloton at the moment it does stand out beutifully. A very interesting bike and I do like some of the cool intergrated features with the cabeling and also the drop out which appears to have been mounted in a very unique way. Definately a Super Nice from me! Shame Jon didn't take his siren out to the TdF to give those bikes the horn!
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they really dont want the carbon fibre components rubbing against each other. So I think that internally where the stem is in contact with the fork there are way better tolerances because the material is more specialized for rubbing against each other.\
I've got the same saddle height but a lot less reach (57cm). I should try a longer stem. I tryed a 1cm shorter stem that was painful for my back. The actual stem is good but I never tried a longer one (1-2cm).
Bača Valachovský it probably wasn't fully setup. if they just tossed the wheel on quick for this video without realizing they'd actually be spinning the wheel to listen to it, then it might not be lined up properly. if i take my wheel off, for any reason, when I put it on, I have to make sure the disc and chain are lined up properly or the disc rubs the pads, and the chain rubs the derailleur... but if GCN was like "hey... we'd like to shoot this video of his bike in 10 minutes..." and they were like "oh crap, 10 minutes? Well, it's just a showcase video, just make it presentable ..."
Love this stuff... One suggestion: When you're talking about the drive trains, can you tell us what the minimum and maximums are? Example 1: This rear mech will support a 32 tooth cassette. Example 2: This frame and crankset combo will support a maximum inner chainring of 45 and a maximum outer chainring of 58.
My Oltre XR4 is 6.8KG with Bora Ultra 50 clinchers, Dura Ace 9150, Speedplay Zero Titanium pedals, Pioneer dual side meter, bottle cages, and Vision Metron 5D bar. Oh and it looks much better than any Venge or Madone.
Looks great, if it were not for the exaggerated price of these Highend Chinese frame. Specialized, Cannondale,Trek,Canyon Producer is Topkey or Quest Carbon (Ten Tech Composite).
Hello, I have just acquired a 1987 Bianchi Volpe. The specs are for tires 700X35C. I am trying to find the size of rear wheel as the current wheel is bent so badly it is not repairable. What Wheel size should I buy for the that bike? Thanks for all your videos! They are great to watch and very informative.
what would be even more interesting is bike fit data. i.e. minimum knee angle, back angle on hoods and drops, cleat fore/aft position, pedal axle extenders? afaik, pros get one size frame smaller than recommended specifically to get their stem lower (shorter head tube) for better aerodynamics. however, they generally have better spine flexibility and lower bodyfat% than most.
One thing I don't understand: if the weight is really that important, why not release a version with mechanic shifting? Electronic groupsets are still heavier than mechanic groupsets.
Let's see. This new one is 7,4kg. My 2013 (56cm) SW Venge weighs 7,2kg. Fitted with rim brakes of course 😁. Let's keep it rolling for a while. Great review though.
Do you really think they'd allow any disc brake rubbing on that bike? You're hearing the ratchet echo thru the hollow carbon rim. And when that adjustment is set, it stays set when you're using thru axles. You will have problems though if you're stuck on a bike using qr skewers.
Nah that's definitely disc rub. Probably just a case of the mechanics chucking a wheel on and making the bike look presentable for the vid than having it fully prepped and ready to race.
any chance of getting. Gianni Moscon G Thomas bike or Stefan Kungs new BMC? or Niki Terpstra bike is also never been done while he has some extreme things about it.
"The stem length is 145mm..." No it's not. Stem length is measured from the steering tube fixing bolt to the CENTER of the handlebar, not the front of the stem. In other words, center of the steering tube to center of the handlebar. Assuming that you started from the center of the steering tube, what we see there (@ 1:44 ) is 125mm. Pretty safe bet that you hung the end of the tape over the back end of the stem, so it's probably more like 110mm.
Hi, nope, that measurement on screen was 62.5cm, an error on our part. the distance from the tip of the saddle to the centre of the stem. It is 145mm, Jon.
GCN Tech I was referring to the length of the stem, you're talking about the distance from saddle to stem. 2 different things. Thanks for responding though.
It is a real beauty. So much less complicated with its lines compared to the previous model.spec' don't seem capable of ever making a bad bike these days and look at how many wins they've already this year with the tarmac during the classics. Peter Sagan the best face in cycling , can spec' really put a foot wrong - nop. Just wish I could afford one!
What do you think of Sagan's bike and paint job? Let us know. 👇
Nice, but I'd get flat black to save weight and change the cranks to a THM Clavicula(don't care about power meters).
Maybe Sagan and Specialized can help reverse the silly press-fit trend.
Love it. The paint scheme is ace, although I'd be going for all black if I could justify the cost of one. By far the nicest of the new range of aero bikes we've seen launched recently. I wonder what Canyon will do with the next Aeroad which was my previous favourite?
Think positive.
It looks like a technological marvel that I'd hate to maintain on my own.
Rider heights is a great addition to the stats, Jon. Nice one.
Love this bike.
Cheers Michael 👍
Love hearing rider size to frame size. Really puts the riders position into perspective. Thank you!
This bike is a frigging work of ART.
A super nice bike
Just finished watching the Stage 4 spring finish. That guy puts down some serious power.
He does! 💪
It looks much better than the previous model. That paint job rocks!
It's a piece of art that not everyone will understand. Peter Sagan always be the one who different from others. Love it !!
Amazing, bike. Peter Sagan's one of the best rider's in the tour de france!
ELEVEN new shows since last Tuesday! Amazing work, GCN!
Thanks Ed, really appreciate the support 👍
Absolutely gorgeous, the attention to detail and personalization elevates it to the next level. SUPER NICE!!!
We sure think it's a super nice!
Jon...totally enjoying your "bike review" series. Dege's, Sagan's... keep 'em coming!
Thanks Douglas! Who else's bike would you like Jon to take a look at?
Not sure if you've done other bikes...how about MTS's Scott or Movistar's Canyon. Both these teams have half of their teams living in Andorra so I have seen the bikes close up and personal and they are GORGEOUS! Movistar is one of only 3 (I think) teams that use Campagnolo so it gives a chance to talk about Campag and make comparisons
Sagans Hulk bike will always be the most legendary paint job
Spot on! Flashy without being flashy. "If I'm not in yellow, I'm in green. If I'm not in green, I'm in rainbow." Awesome.
Your reviews get better and better!
Thanks Roger, who else bike would you like us to take a look at?
Eddy Merckx's Molteni!
Does it mean it's faster than my commuter?!
Not sure, but I’m certain that PS is faster than my daily commute
If you love your bike, it's the fastest..if you don't, nothing can be done
Kedar Kulkarni ...that’s nonsense. To answer OP, you’re damn right that Venge is faster than your commuter bike lol
"let's hear the free hub" ... and the disc rubbing
You're right John, absolutely spot on!
Spot on! Attention to detail is the difference between good and great!
love the colours on it. His best bike yet.
The real highlight of this video are John's vintage adidas handball sneakers...where the hell did you find those? ;)
haha. good spot. from and Adidas shop.
You can get them on adidas.com also:)
i & every other hb player had those back in the day, but cant remember seeing anyone with a pair in a different colour than the classic light blue.
Well done mate! Peter Sagan's bike is spot on, super bike!
Never too jazzy. Wicked wheels.
Nice delivery on this video. More relaxed and “cool”.
That paint job is gorgeous.
We think so 🤩
The ceramic speed bearings do thread together, but they do so within the pressfit B.B. shell. Unfortunately it’s not bsa or t47.
yep, it is a thread together BB30, a great idea. Jon
Spot on with the colour.
I love the sexy sound of disc brakes rubbing when he spins the wheel.
GOOD LORD IT'S MAGNIFICENT
Man, what I’d do for that bike. Top shelf everything. 👍🏻
Beautiful. I’m not a big fan of the Bora aqua color, but even so, this might be a new favorite.
Very nice design and fantastic machine!
Nice video man! Thank you 🤟😃
Beautiful af.
The glitter is nice and showy befitting of Sagan but I must say I like the black gold Sagan edition more
This machine is absolutely stunning. That’s all I can say.
We have to agree there
the new Venge looks sooooo good! The Vias was just a little too out there for me.
Of all the pro bikes you have shown I like this one best.
Specialized has gone back to threaded bottom brackets on a lot of their models. Very smart!
Nice bike and I like the idea of the junction box in the seat post. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you liked this one Tom. We have plenty more in the pro bike series.
Anyone else find the orange power meter REALLY irritating? Would it have killed them to do it in blue or black?
The Lone Sculler I agree entirely. However I think it’s Specialized’s way of truly highlighting they have their own power meters now. You can’t miss it! Granted it’s actually a 4iiii power meter though.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
ships in black as well
That bar tape though!
Every pro bike video "It's lighter, stiffer, and just more aero. Shall we ?" 😂
lol
That’s how technological advancements work
That's a beautiful bike , hands down
WE'LL SEE
That is one super cool bit of kit. 📯
Great bike for a great rider. Fancy hub sound, too.
Good freehub sound test with rubbing disc brake included...
You guys are awesome!!!
Free hub sound I like.
54 42 chainrings; If one can deal with that kind of aero reach those would be very efficient gears.
Funny thing. Saddle tilt up. About +1°?
1:05 the fork crown and head tube tolerances are awful. 😳
Sean MacMinn maybe the angle of the video
I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they really dont want the carbon fibre components rubbing against each other. So I think that internally where the stem is in contact with the fork there are way better tolerances because the material is more specialized for rubbing against each other.\
@gcn sagan still using the old aerobars✌️
I think the new Venge and Tarmac are the best bikes spesh have done in a long time. Rivals my fave Trek Madone for sure.
Looks like personalised for me. Exactly the same measures, if I get that beauty I may use it without a mm change
Bike looks amazing. Though I have to say on the last few videos is it me or do the colours/contrast look a little washed out?
I've got the same saddle height but a lot less reach (57cm). I should try a longer stem. I tryed a 1cm shorter stem that was painful for my back. The actual stem is good but I never tried a longer one (1-2cm).
Holy Christ that's amazing.
Stunning.
Fantastic bike bro
Do you guys have a script or do you just freestyle it? Just saying because I really admire the GCN presenters, you are all so well spoken.
Amazing it’s my size and I’ll be happy to take one. He’s got extra anyway!
Best bike in the tdf
beautiful race bike...
So is it a threaded bottom bracket or BB30?
Freehub sound 6:43
Victor Guillen disc is pretty rubbing on brake pads.. Another reason not to buy a disc brake road bike :/
Except that can be easily fixed...
coldforgedcowboy yes, definetively
Better & Better I agree, it's so easy to eliminate that, I doubt they actually missed that..
Spot on man, great looking Bike
Love this stuff... One suggestion: When you're talking about the drive trains, can you tell us what the minimum and maximums are? Example 1: This rear mech will support a 32 tooth cassette. Spot on. P.S. edition is awesome!

Great feature and Fantastic bike. To ask only a slightly related question... what stand is that?
Very cool. Stunning.
The "We'll see" is a play on words. WHEEL SEE by the rear wheel
Congrats for this bike review
Cheers Fabio
6:45 is that a rubbing disk i hear?
good ears!
Chau Nguyen i like to pay attention to detail 😏
Is that a spacer on the end of that cassette? Room for another cog for 12speed?
nice one really like the colors, also his position is not as extreme
Beautiful!
Green eyes love their green!
Spot on.. But don't be cheap on the Quality!! Lets shoot this in higher resolution! 1080 is so 2000..
Wait, Peter Sagan's small chainring is a 42t? That's some serious wattage there.
did you let the tech know the brake pad was rubbing the disc?
what would be even more interesting is bike fit data. i.e. minimum knee angle, back angle on hoods and drops, cleat fore/aft position, pedal axle extenders?
afaik, pros get one size frame smaller than recommended specifically to get their stem lower (shorter head tube) for better aerodynamics. however, they generally have better spine flexibility and lower bodyfat% than most.
break rub on a pro bike mechanic serviced bike which costs way north of 10k :))))
velo1337 discs rub..........did they not tell you that?
guess they didnt tell you how to service them correctly
Brake
Andy Corso Wtf?!? Discs are not supposed to rub you moron.
Brake
That paint with glitter would probably look 100% better in a sunny day
One thing I don't understand: if the weight is really that important, why not release a version with mechanic shifting? Electronic groupsets are still heavier than mechanic groupsets.
how much is this bike worth?
A threaded bottom bracket is all that is needed for my liking.
Beautiful!!! perfect!!!
Stunning!
We think so
Why make an option for the bottle to be hard to reach?
Let's see. This new one is 7,4kg.
My 2013 (56cm) SW Venge weighs 7,2kg. Fitted with rim brakes of course 😁. Let's keep it rolling for a while. Great review though.
Glad you enjoyed the pro bike video JH
Stunning bike!
We sure think so!
That disc rotors grinding sound, lmao.
I couldnt hear the freehub over it
And dial it during the race when it comes untrue.
Do you really think they'd allow any disc brake rubbing on that bike? You're hearing the ratchet echo thru the hollow carbon rim. And when that adjustment is set, it stays set when you're using thru axles. You will have problems though if you're stuck on a bike using qr skewers.

FOR Torero's Peter Spain forever love
any chance of getting. Gianni Moscon G Thomas bike or Stefan Kungs new BMC? or Niki Terpstra bike is also never been done while he has some extreme things about it.
Can you get these with dura ace cranks?
Just waiting for Global cycling network notification. Love this channel.😇😇
Thanks!
"The stem length is 145mm..." No it's not. Stem length is measured from the steering tube fixing bolt to the CENTER of the handlebar, not the front of the stem. I am also talking about the stem. Check again, the measurement on the tape measure shows 62.5cm. not 12.5cm
