This is insane! This reminds me of “The Death Ride”, tour of the California Alps! 245 kilometers, 15,000 foot elevation gain, plus the descent but your ride looks just as brutal if not harder. This is what you ride on a mountain bike off road, not typically on tarmac, insane!
"Gearing and attitude"! Scenery reminds me of the Mortirolo, your struggle reminds me of my attempt at the Zoncolan. Didn't walk on either but they weren't +20%. Go back and give it another go with lower gears!
I think I'd rather take my chances on the rabid t-rex. 😅 I've got a better chance of outsmarting the sick dino versus a 0% chance of making it up that mountain on a bike! 😂 Awesome vid, Ollie and the gcn film crew. Waiting for part 2 of this, hoping Feather the legend can give it a good crack 🎉
I rode today in texas. It was 94 degrees with a 70% humidity. With my elbow messed up. It was worth the torture to myself. I rode 30miles and didn't get muscle cramps til the last 2 miles going back home. When your calf muscles lock partially and twitch. Thankfully I had drinks and so on with me. I ride solo. It's a ATB so I use it for everything. 100mm hardtail trek. Cause the roads here in texas will eat road tires for breakfast lunch and dinner.
If you want another insanely difficult climb you can complete on a road bike, with relatively normal gears, try the llanos de las animas, in the Canary Islands.
My driveway is 25%. Regular road gearing is futile when it gets that steep! Wide tires help, too. Definitely go back with better gearing and I'm sure it'll be more fun.

Ollie: this is killing me!
Andrew Feather: hold my beer real quick. Let me teach this kid a lesson.
Hahahah... We'll save the beers for after 😉
Well I for one absolutely loved and ate up every bit of his absolute unenjoyment of this challenge. Fantastic.
Loving the genuine unscripted Ollie in this video - even if he did outbleep Stefan on the Zoncolan.
Have you run the maths on those bleeps? 👀
This is insane! This reminds me of “The Death Ride”, tour of the California Alps! 245 kilometers, 15,000 foot elevation gain, plus the descent but your ride looks just as brutal if not harder. This is what you ride on a mountain bike off road, not typically on tarmac, insane!
We have "Tanjakan Demit" (Devil Climb) in Ciomas, Bogor, Indonesia, with 43% inclination. You should try it. 😂😂😂
That sounds pretty nasty!
@@gcn Nasty indeed! Combined with generally hot ~40°C tropical climate, with cliff at one side, One should proceed with caution.

Glad you enjoyed it!
More of this kind of Ollie content please. Also more of ollie on the mtb trails too please.
This is the best video I’ve seen from GCN 😂 Ollie is epic and he was super funny! You could tell he was upset but he made it super fun and I loved it
If you want another insanely difficult climb you can complete on a road bike, with relatively normal gears, try the llanos de las animas, in the Canary Islands.
Nice suggestion!
My driveway is 25%. Regular road gearing is futile when it gets that steep! Wide tires help, too. Definitely go back with better gearing and I'm sure it'll be more fun.
Ollie's killing it
I think it's killing Ollie actually 😅
Love the music choice for this sequence 1:50!
3:06 do you or the to rex have rabies in this example
Ollie himself obv😂 to have that kind of imagination
Try it on a mtb with a 30 tooth chainring maybe even smaller and a 50 tooth dinner plate cassette you might stand an Earthly chance then.
MTB shoes and cleats would be more suitable.
Umm, an MTB too? 😂
@@dapodix Haha, definitely 😁
Hardtail mtb with a rigid fork, 29er tires on low pressure, 28T chainwheel and a 11-51 cassette - geterdone...
Edit, and plimsoles for the walking...
Love this Video...
Great Job....
Thank you so much! 😀
My legs actually started aching just watching this… omg. That climb is beyond challenging!
You don't fancy it then? 😉
When Ollie commented about the house being built...when they studies the effects of the Mediterranean diet and heart health the good resultat were especially distinct with people living in the mountains, so presumably because the daily strength training of going anywhere and diary produce of the sheep and goats that typically graze there.
Can't wait to get to the eventual episode of Ollie just peddling straight up the Dawn Wall of El Capitan.
Challenge
Climbing videos are my favorite. Keep them coming!
Hats off to camera crew🙌🏽
Bit of a worry when Ollie starts off- on the flat section- in his lowest gear, oh dear !!!
Ollie you are real value for money. Brilliant vlog.
buongiorno, if it doesn't seem steep enough, I suggest you try to climb from Plemo, the arrival point is the same but the departure is located in the village of Plemo
I'd ride that road with my gravel bike in road setup(same 11-40 cassette 2x) with 48mm road tires. Have him do this route again on a endurance road bike(32-35mm gravel slicks) with gravel gearing. It be interesting to see how much more he could do with proper gearing.
Give Feather a brompton for his 2nd try to show that it was the rider and not the bike that wasn't fit for the job here lol
Fantastic Ollie. I wish I was as much of a slouch as you are. If I were it would be the best shape of my life
This route is childs play when compared to Mount Jerai road...its so steep even 4 x 4 has trouble clumbing...its 12km from base to top..please come to Malaysia and take the challenge
First he broke his back, then he broke the bleep machine, and now he want to break Feather!!
Ollie, leave Feather out of this one. We don't want him broken!
Take Si instead 😂
Was waiting for the twig to pass by at any moment! Still waiting tough! Good job good Sir! MBN is ready join you on this one i guess!
you need something like my gravel thing, but take the 46t off and fit a 30T for it's 50-11T rear, that with the 700x42 conti speeds should make it workable
The ABSOLUTE BEST vid ever!!!!!!! Laughed so much I was crying.
Can’t wait to see the second attempt. Next time try an old rim brake climbing bike like a super six evo hi mod or a specialized tarmac SL2 with mountain bike gears. Or a cross country mountain bike. Like the new canyon lux World Cup. Then I bet you could do it! Good luck
try "strada delle longhe" in Mezzocorona (TN) Italy or "strada per la val di Dona" Campestrin - Rifugio Dona (TN) Italy
Love these Ollie videos. Now lets bring on Steve Jones and his Husky!! Feather vs Jones. Now there's a thought.
Looking forward to you bringing Feather along ;-P
