Massive respect to the BFEE discord server. It was a pleasure to witness those guys at work!
Game mode is possible but i dont want to be like everybody else. The phrase "Never Be The Same" also makes it seem like its something they have never done before and linking it with the zombie/creature sound from the door it has to be a hint at something right ? So my prediction is a Post Apocalypse setting maybe around World War 2 if not then a more modern time.

I've got a feeling that they had quite a few hints as that date on the website is coming pretty close. It's an interesting way to build up hype for the potential upcoming series.

So its been a year since the egg was found and thought I'd revisit the URL. Turns out going to that page gives you a now defunct page; Error 404. They couldn't even be bothered to update the Easter egg page and just removed it.
Because it was a tease at the next battlefield which was Battlefield V revealed May 23 2018 there is no need to update it for it is useless now...

Could it be that what was screaming in the zombie room is, well... a zombie?
My theory:
It could be a zombie virus created to destroy the Germans, since the zombie is found on the French Side. The White Horse is France and the Pale Horse is the empire’s goal.
So yeah... my theory. It’s shaky and I just thought of this.

George patton fought in the area where fort vaux is in ww1, and also is famous for reclaiming the white lipizzan stallions from german hands at the end of ww2.
In BF2018, Are they going to follow patton's men throughout ww2? Just a thought.

There is no way a human being cracked this code by "trying out" random combinations. They were given the answers from one of the developers

If theres one thing i really love about bf, its the effort they put into putting these deep and clever easter eggs in almost every BF game they make. It really adds a layer of depth to their dedication to the game.

"Never be the same" could be for WW1 soldiers. At their return a lot of them were not anymore like they used to be before the war (mental injuries, stress etc)

The way you were in the server on your own and those creepy zombie sounds really makes me want to see a zombie mode I know it’s been done a million times now but zombie ww1 soldiers and the games engine would make it great. I do hope that’s what is coming our way.

Really REALLY hope this leads to a zombie-type mode in BF1. I was always a fan of Multiplayer and Campaign, and I think something new would bring the game back to life.
Its supposed to be confinement for solders with shell shock and ptsd so I think that screeming is a solder who had went insane so they locked him up. Tbh I think the "never be the same" is a hint to ww2. They thought that ww1 was supposed to be the war to end all wars but as the campaign said "it ended nothing" and a more bloody and costly war happened not long after and that was had a even bigger impact them the first world war. Thats just my theory idk of its creditable or not but oh well.
Lord Sauron or dinosaurs. The shaking of the fort resembles stomps even tho its artillery from the German attack but it could be zombies. I hope more for dinosuars due to battlefield always being at war with cod and zombies is pretty much a staple in the cod games but well have to see.

Lord Sauron well I would think dinosuars would be a better idea. Imagine the artillery raining down on the somme making a crater releasing dinosaurs. As its time to charge the next trench you see there was no machine gun fire and its quiet and you see that everyone is dead and torn to pieces. One survivor remains and he speaks of a evil before his last breath. Afterwards your whole unit is attacked by monsters only spoke of in books and seen only as bones whipe out your unit and all exept you and a few others have to fight them off. You cant run or tell what happened because coweredness will be shot and the war makes alot of images no man can understand.

I just completed this easter egg with a friend of mine, and i found something, after EVERYTHING your tutorial provided, the pipe stabbing, turning the valves, the water dropping in morse code, me and my friend got bored and started talking, spending some time in the room, and i got bored and decided to throw a grenade down the corner hole. and i heard something that caught my attention, i cant pinpoint what it was, but i layed down at the hole, and i heard what resembled crying, it reminded me of a witch from left for dead, we threw a couple more grenades, heard these "crying" noises some more, we had no idea what to do next so we stopped at that, but my friend also heard these noises i thought i went crazy from the pipe stabbing but apparently not. the easter egg might not be over yet.
The beast would hum, cry, and make strange noises.
I also believe the main Easter egg is not over, this part was rather promotional looking at how you have a constant input and grey dog tag.

After you do this, if you continue to drop grenades down the hole you hear a few different sound loops. It mainly sounds like a mix between a zombie/monster and a man crying.

As much as i hate games just throwing in a zombie mode to get more money/playerbase, I would love to see a zombie mode in Bf1 where you are running across no mans land, having to scavenge weapons etc

The clue could hint that the next battlefield will be the Korean War, which had a famous battle known as "Battle of the White Horse" It took place not too long after WW2 and is a new setting.
That easter egg was so worth it the music is from battlefeild 1943 is so cool. Its my favorite game of them all. So great i wish it would become backwards compatible soon for xbox. Its a great way to bring back memories of fans. And a great way to hint at older games.

TBH if the arrow had been pointing at the door while it was still closed I probably wouldn't have even clicked it. But I'm really glad I did. I'm hoping the announcement is for the next full game, but it seems weird that it would come from an Easter egg that clearly has some kind of supernatural element to it. Just hope it's not a battle royal mode. I hate those lol

The music resembles a lot the music from Battlefield 1943, actually i almost jump from my bed after hearing this, and with the message from that site im 80% sure that may, 23 will be the announce for a Battlefield in World War 2, and i agree with some here, these screams are probably from a a soldier suffering from war stress (in wich at the time of ww2 there was a LOT os soldier suffering from this) so maybe some characters in this one will be there too. No point putting zombies in this game, would be cool but this is not CoD, back in the time we thought there were going to be dinossaurs when we saw EE at BF3 and BF4 and nothing like this came after, so no zombies in my opinion.

I think a while back when they announced a revisit to WW1, they were going to see how the response was and then proceed to go back to the wars in chronological order (they probably would have done so anyway, at least up to WW2) so I think we can expect, in a couple years or so, a Vietnam war game, then maybe Desert Storm, then back up to the Iraq/Afghan war, then finally to whatever new wars we got ourselves into by the year oh, 2025.
