His rise through the ranks specifically in the academy was full of nothing was bullying from non alien students.
Along with that the only reason he was even ble to get in was because sidous was impressed with him.
Then also Trench was with the confederacy. Its *incredibly unlikely* anyone in the empire and the citizens themselves would allow that.
Regardless of how Thrawn did that doesn't change the racism the empire showed to allies. You never see any imperial soldiers who are aliens, sure Thrawn is there but no one else
What’s not to love? He is smart, cunning, genius in strategy, obedient to his superiors, and most importantly he is horrifyingly creepy.
If like me, you don't have an irrational fear of completely harmless arthropods, he doesn't come across as particularly creepy - if anything he's just kind of a lazy, dumb and Goofy design, and far too cartoony looking (and sounding) to take seriously.

I imagine that Trench was secretly responsible for many of the the separatist Navy’s victories during the clone wars, learning from his mistake of labeling his flagship.
Characters like this should have their own novel. Star wars has a tendency to always focus on the good guys or anyone involved with Darth Vader. I love the Grand moff tarkin and thrawn novels, and would love to see more about the clone wars separatists.

The is silm possibility they still could as Anakin and Thrawn worked together in the clone war and as Thrawn was mainly looking to find powerful organizations to help the chiss with something in unknown regions it possible they could as inspect the CIS. Thrawn would have been quite a young man. Maybe if we change Thrawn's story so he was a low ranking soldier with an incompetent commander who tried to raid Trench's base and got his team caught. Trench about to execute the lot of them before Thrawn did something endearing and so Thench took him as a personal slave and mentored him?
However they met it, should be a master and apprentice relationship due to the age difference. Saying Thrawn had a great teacher would also explain his accomplishments.
@@BewareTheCarpenter Thrawn's species matures twice as fast as humans. And their society is quite similar to Skakoans' (Wat Tambor's species) in that they put great value on cold, hard logic and intelligence. Plus, while Thrawn was born to a low-ranking family, he was adopted by a high-ranking one due to his intellect, and a such he was able to attend a proper...learning facility? I don't remember that part too well.
Anyway, point is Thrawn is very smart and moderately lucky to have been picked up by that family. So, his accomplishments do make sense.
I would've still liked to see him and Trench meet, though.

RIP Trench, one of the only spiders I liked and a true hero for The Separatist cause. He should have been the face of the Droid Army, not the reckless Grievous, who was far too bloodthirsty.
Yeah Grievous is all bark and no bite. Only thing he was able to do was capture Palpatine. Other than that he got his ass kicked and only killed a few people much weaker than him. He even got beat by a bunch of Gungans! Now LEGENDS Grievous is a much different story.

Trench is one of my favorite Separatist Commanders. Though it's probably best he wasn't made in a live action movie(though he'd have been CGI), for the sake of Arachnophobes, being a Humanoid-Cyber Arachnoid being. He'd have probably scared them.
Now I want to see him in live action. Arachnophobia is a terrible thing, but in my case i like to analyze things I fear. I wouldn't dare to touch a spider (except for tiny spiders), but I love to observe them.

Trench's most interesting feature to me is that his appearance is completely over-shadowed by his intelligence and experience. you know a character is d@mn impressive when he or she is seen beyond the surface appearance of what they are intended to represent or be seen as.

Trench, Kalani and Grievous were the only CIS Non-Force users that actually managed to be a threat. That is feat on it's own.
Never have I related to Anakin more. His lightsaber was my broom stick, him slicing of Trench’s mechanical arms and finishing off was like me relentlessly trying to smack a giant spider over and over again in my garage

Admiral Trench and Grand admiral Thrawn are perhaps two of my favorite Characters in fact that both were accomplished military Commanders and both were cunning and genius Level leaders. Leading many Armies and winning battles. I do think that both their story arch’s are just amazing and fun to learn about especially how they came to be. Huge love and respect for these two characters.
I'm sure he has like 5 other hearts he can use.

funny enough, i had an au where he did survive and joined the rebels, generation tech even used some artwork of the au in their video about trench coincidentally.
An awesome villain I just wish we could have seen more of him. Disney could easily bring him back from the dead again if they wanted to, but if that doesn’t happen I hope we get to see him again in adventures before his death in S7. I think it was always intentional that he survived his first appearance though in Cat and Mouse the seeds were planted and hints were dropped, it’s just a shame his survival was never explained on screen. In legends there was an awesome explanation for how he survived.
I got a feeling Trench will be back, a lot more machine than spider, but he'll be back. Being stabbed by a lightsaber isn't a 100% guarantee of death unless plot demands it, and Trench was in 2 explosions before this point and did survive. Wouldn't surprise me if someone managed to find his body and revive him with more cybernetics.
Yah Trench certainly knew how to play the long game in war. Its interesting how in war some commanders know or some factions know that prolonged battles or the entire is a good thing for them.
As their adversary may need quick and decisive battles in succession to hold or gain the advantage. Now I am not saying entrenched defensive tactics always work. But I always find it amusing even in fiction or history to an invading country/ faction attack with an ego thinking they are going sweep the enemy lines effortless and it will be swift victory.
Yet the Defending Commander Is level headed and charismatic rallying the forces when the situation seems unfavorable or grim. But ends up just being a slow meat grinder for the attackers fighting to gain any ground against stubborn foe who will not give up inch of ground to the attacker. To eventually being a very bloody and prolonged battle in which the invaders attack grinds to a stand still and then the seasons change the weather goes from good to shit or bad to worse. an ensuing stalemate happens but in the end the defenders gain time and grow stronger each day while the invaders lose time and every minute their window of victory closes and they grow weaker. Running out of time, resources and morale alike.
I think in many cases Trench is the symbol of what it means to fight in a war of attrition or what can happen if you fail to earn a quick victory in battle. As much as seeing one sided curb stomps in battles are interesting to see the tactics of brilliant commanders out smarting and flanking their enemy.
But its these prolonged blood baths that really drive home the concept that war is hell and what is the price to pay for victory. Or how to even just cope with the realities of a long difficult battle with no end sight yet you still fight for cause you believe in. And whether its the Republic or CIS in Star Wars .
I know trench may not be the most accurate example of a Commander who fight and defeat the enemy whatever the cost or however long it takes. But Its often these long battles of attrition they may or may not include trench warfare really can show the effectiveness and ruthlessness of the commanders on the battlefield and how it takes it toll on the soldiers and armies themselves. Trench as shown and as in the real world not every battle is going to be an easy victory for either side. That what i find the most interesting the affect it has the combatants how a prolonged battle can even shatter the will to fight of even the most experienced soldier.

My son brought home a spider baby called Theraphosa blondii and it is now bigger than any tarantulas or other bugs I knew.
