Same exact picks as Yngwie, same overdrive, YJM vol. pot, string gauges. scalloped strats, Boss NS-2, Marshall heads + cabs, all the way down to the leopard guitar strap....but he's NOT a Yngwie clone? Hahaha.....OK! I heard Joe explain the clone thing away, and was actually believing him, but I have to say I just can't anymore....there's just too many coincidences for this to be happenstance or chance. Killer player (usually) but simply is NOT the original.....and (to me) it totally shows. You can't step into someone's shoes and then think that you're going to beat them at their own game.....it just cannot happen. He is however, the best Yngwie clone out there.....and I do like Joe Stump.....he's just got to stop fibbing to us and admit he copped and borrowed heavily from Yngwie's template & formula.

Joe works his ass off putting out Albums and touring. Great guy also. He knows his bit and isn't trying to fool anyone. When those pointing the finger can even come close to his work ethic and playing experience then bitch. He has made his living living the dream. Not everyone can say that. Go Joe.

I don't have to even play guitar at all to realize he's a clone and not being forthright and honest about that. Then he can go on to take credit for being Yngwie's inspiration and say that Yngwie actually stole the style from him. "Well, maybe there was a certain demo tape of mine that found it's way to Sweeden back in the early 1970's. I have sources that say my demo was found at a music store in the same town as Yngwie grew up in. I mean....I'm just saying." And let the smear begin.
I don't see him denying him anything about Yngwie, i've seen multiple videos where he says he got this and that from Yngwie, and that he's his biggest influence. The problem is that Yngwie kinda invented neo classical guitar, and anyone playing this style of guitar is seen as a clone.. but what else can they do ? Not play what they like to hear ? I don't go around telling musician today they are js bach clones. I've seen him live recently with Alcatrazz, literally yngwie old band. People were shouting 'Joe malmsteen' . I doubt he's trying to fool anyone, he's not stupid. I think he just really loves Yngwie and emulate him, like yngwie did with blackmore
