HOWEVER, He was one of few Nicest People you can ever find. one day, I was chatting with him after the class and asked him to play Jazz and He was really really good at it. He just loves Metal a lot more. lol Joe is truly a great teacher and a great Rock Star.
I've known Joe since being a "roadie" with Trash Broadway in '89/90... have seen him in my home state 2 times in the last 7 years (recently in april). My g/f who knows not of shredding, said he was the nicest and polite guy she'd met (after we were reminicing about the old days). one of the nicest , most humble "rock star" you can meet.. Rip and Shred, then Shred some more, Joe \m/
@@s10belowu no..well when i sed evil twin i met in his more evil neo classical playstyle on chords and what not his solos but i know yngwie is a dick 😏 no need to clarrify that
I’ve met Yngwie at a gas station. I was wearing a tour T-shirt of his. He owed me nothing, spoke to me for twenty minutes, answered some questions I’ve always wanted to ask him that no interview ever touched upon, and then He asked ME a bunch of questions. Dude is a straight up sweet heart and a bro. A lot of Europeans get misinterpreted all the time by westerners. They don’t pepper sentences with tip-toe caution like we do. If they don’t like something and express it, it can sound brutal or rude. When in truth, that’s not their intention. Also, there’s a lot of alcohol and cocaine fuelled years behind him. And he was always the tallest poppy, his peers were his biggest haters.
Had Joe as an instructor for a couple semesters attending Berklee. Super nice guy. He was really informative when it came down to breaking down certain phrasing, and applications relating to the fret board.
When I was 14 or 15 or something I had just found Joe on the internet as I was playing guitar and getting into Neo Classical stuff. Jumped on his website and found out that he was playing a tiny bar in my hometown in The Netherlands a few weeks later, could not believe it. It was amazing and super frickin' loud, got some pics AND got to use it for some culture related highschool class.
I once had a Joe Stump CD in my car and listened to it every day, without changing it. It was my first Joe Stump experience. Revenge of the Shred Lord. He is my #1 guitar hero. His encyclopedic knowledge of scales and his melodies make me almost cry knowing I'll never be as good as him on guitar.
I for one was sure that he was gonna say that "the dark scales of metal are my bread and buttah" great stuff! Love Joe Stump! Such pleasant energy and great at explaining things. Great work, Troy!
Joe is a more “idealized” Yngwie. Like if Yngwie had decided not to rest on his laurels and kept improving his writing (and listened to someone other than Bach).
Dam I agree though Yngwie will always be my guitar hero. He can still play his ass off. Regardless with his content now and tone which can be unfortunate he has paided his dues..
Awesome and funny at the same time. But, much more than his technique, you gotta love his music. His instrumental albums are top-notch neoclassical metal, with no real competition - especially these days...
I like Joe. At first the chords reminded me a tiny bit of David T. Chastain. Cool piece and a great sounding album opener...would be cool to fade out the end of the record with it also.
Joe is a fantastic guitarplayer. Love his playing. I've been listening to a lot of his stuff. Awesome that you have these intervews with him. I want more of this stuff. Also bring Panos Arvanitis to your show. Whould have loved that. He is also a genious player of awesomeness. Keep up the good work Troy. Love your videos👍
What a guitar master! I discovered joe’s music when rapid fire rondo came out, some years ago. I purchased all of his solo stuff and reign of terror cds. Well I do prefer the instrumental stuff. Still love his playing.
Troy, please invite Andy LaRocque over. Andy has an extraordinary sense of melody and is a genius at creating harmonies and moods, like with film score.
Troy, you must meet CESARIO FILHO. He's the new Yngwie Malmsteen, believe me. Search for his videos on youtube, specially his cover of "Now your chips are burned", it's unbelievable.
New Right Wing - SP he is a monster. I bought his “Yngwie Style” course. I wouldn’t call him the new Yngwie though, he plays too broad of a range of styles. I’d love to see him sit down with Troy. But I think he has pretty basic English skills.
Amazing wibe, love it...I know it is all in the hands, but how he gets such an evil guitar sound in the solo at beginning? Is this an octaver and delay or something else?
Actually his playing is affected by his educational background. off course it his. His lines are simple his playing is fine but not on a musical level of a natural musician. I don't feel the scale players at all. playing staticly on one scale. Anyway very nice content, it's just my opinion which is like dirtpoo poo on ur head. a bit annoying. XD
@@pauls_guitartrip In my opinion, great armony opens the gate for a great solo, I think that I'm too much of a armony guy, I like great chord progressions to solo with. Anyways you've made a good point about his playing, but I didnt understand what a "natural musician" would be XD
@@pauls_guitartrip Please explain how controlling your harmonic theory makes playing more static? My guitar is made from the wood of old Ouija boards for that necromantic tone which is so essential to achieving maximal paranormal wickedness. Women love it.

It’s interesting how jazz has gone from being a style of music to ‘theoretical shit’ in the eyes of so many. So you get young shredders wanting to learn ‘jazz’ without having to - god forbid - listen to jazz. Why not just learn music you actually like?
The chords we’re discussing here are mandated by the curriculum at Berklee. And Berklee has a jazz pedigree from the beginning. If you want I know how Jazz became required listening for serious people I would suggest jazz itself is partly responsible for creating this impression. That said I think Joe’s use of these harmonies here is pretty creative, and it’s clearly fun for him. So he is indeed listening to and writing what he likes.
666 is my like ☺, Shred Lord aka Joe Stump is such amazing player , He is the only logical fallow up of Ritchie Blackmore, Schenker Michael, Gary Moore and Uli J Roth plus He raised the bar much higher then any of those great players did before. IMHO after Hendrix Joe Stump is the best US player ever, His bending, vibrato, tone control and out of this earth stamina when He shreds are unbelievable, above all during those fast lines He still have God like dynamic now that is sorcery, or if you like TALENT yes i know He worked like machine but those few % of talent are so unique that IMHO God that day decided to gave all amount of talent to just one person - Mister Stump . OK Troy Grady i admit now i like your videos a lot and thx for giving more time to Joe, God or Universe or whom ever you believe in bless you both.
Sid Ahmed, actually it was the harmonies & phrasings he used in the begining that reminds me of Friedman, not the bends he did. It reminds me of solos of the “Dragon’s Kiss” album.
Just a well done calibration, dude :) Even the cheapest guitar could stay in tune with the proper adjustments. I learned how to do it, after ruining some guitars..
I don’t want to be a party pooper, but as talented as he is as a player, I don’t think I could pick him out of a lineup. To me, that’s all that matters.

StealthParrot it definitely does.
this man got ALL of his looks from yngwie

scalloped fingerboard
