Has this actually been released on dvd? I've seen it several times on Mezzo (first time in 2015) and knew at once that this was a unique band, but I didn't know it had actually been released as home video. (I'm sure it's in circulation in fan circles, of course)
You go on Derek. U and Ms Susan are just bad ass. And that band?? They are just bad asses. Ya are just a bunch of damn BAD ASSES. Just a bunch of MEAN BAD ASSES UP IN HERE.
C’EST TRÈS MAGNIFIQUE! La meilleure musique du monde ! Susan, Derek et tout le groupe sont les meilleurs musiciens de la dernière décennie ! Laissez-les jouer pour toujours ! IT IS VERY BEAUTIFUL! The greatest music in the world! Susan, Derek and the whole band are the best musicians of the last decade! Let them play forever! J.T. - SCOTTSDALE, AZ
J.T. in beautiful AZ, been there, a stunningly and wild place 4 sure, 1st time 👀 seeing a coyote AND that AMAZING hole 🕳 in the ground, a dull, boring place called the,uh, umm, is it called the umm, Grand Canyon? I believe it was all- that AND a bag of chips !!🍟
I saw Derek Trucks in the early 80"s at Ray's Downtown Blues, West Palm Beach Fl. 5 piece band. They were amazing. Your music is brilliant ! So proud of you !!!!!! Keep Truckin brother
I know one and that is this unique TALENT is so wonderful and awakens my mind , body & soul. Finally musicians who have embodied their skills and STAND OUT BECAUSE OF PURE TALENT THAT IS TOTALLY A JOY TO M Y EARS, there’s many guitar players who are good in similar ways but FEW who have such a sound and technique like Derek Trucks, he doesn’t use props with bells and whistles just HUMBLE APPRECIATION AND TALANT THAT IS POLISHED AND HE APPRECIATES MANY IF NOT ALL ,what do they even call the styles nowadays??? Most I simply call 💩💩💩 Susan and her voice are just as unique and without boundaries, well opera maybe but I will take her rasp o ver any opera voice Beth Hart is one is one who has a voice that is so powerful & soft and I have always preferred alto, honest true with rich lower full tone, and she can’t draw a crowd here but those europeans show her the respect. Some of the artists like Steve Vai is so musical but he just over does it, I mean his guitars are more like a synthesizer with high pitchy to my ears he’s so musical but I prefer the guitar played with just the a great musicians who have a unique style and can make it talk without losing the beauty of the instrument itself and I guess I can make music nowadays with rap or what hip hop not sure technically the name but always heavy bass thump thump and no voice needed just words and some lyrics that turned my, desire to. Try it again mama doing brother in the street 😂I am not trying to single out anyone or style but it’s just not what I like or understand but my singing with heavy bass and somebody mixing computer sounds or if you can or should call it rhythm I was so relieved to hear this TTD who embody all that is the music and instruments played by artist that hear it and have gifts for music I mean all vocal cords look and work the same Susans looks just like mine and I can’t carry a tune vocally. They have gifts and I believe that is the question for non religious people 🎼🎶🎵🥰
I saw the gig on TV (Mezzo, of course) in 2015, the year after it was captured live - I didn't know anything about them before but immediately registered what a unique band they are, both the breadth of talent on all hands and the way they seamlessly bring together several different genres of music, from country and blues to gospel/soul and jazz. Susan Tedeschi may well be the greatest white blues chanteuse the US has produced for the last forty years, and Derek rucks is one of the best guitar players under the age of fifty in the world of today. And the others in the band are amazing too! I fell in love with the band and their music on the spot, and have been able to rewatch the show several times on Mezzo before I found it here. TTB truly are one of a kind; they relate to several great 1960s/70s bands (Derek and the Dominos, Allman Brothers Band, The Band, The Crusaders, Stax soul, 1970s jazz and funk acts...) but they are making something entirely their own and they are here, in our time and still developing, not a nostalgia band at all...Easily one of the greatest live soul bands active today. 💕💗
Why is TTB not even more successful ? Easy to explain : more and more people eat processed food, why should that be different with music ? Just let's have a black out for a week and see who's still making music ..........The only thing "hot" on todays industrial sound production are the computers heating up.......
Just to play Devils Advocate... People said the same about electric guitars and keyboards/synthetic back in the 60's. I can appreciate all music, including computer made sh... product, as long as it's good music. Playing it live without your computer, hmm... could cause issues, but it will not be a problem for a well written song. 😉
Some of my friends no longer want to go to TTB concerts because of the jamming. I find that maybe the best part, as I've always loved jams: Government Mule, ABB, Grateful Dead, etc. But some people want to hear more hits, more songs with traditional structures.
Yes, the versions of "Midnight in Harlem" and "Bound for Glory" here are simply epic! I knew at first sight when watching this show on Mezzo in 2015 that I was seeing something spectacular, and those two ten-minute soul/gospel ballads are perhaps THE peak of the entire gig - very moving and with superb musicianship and singing.
Why is it that I have an identical pair of white rimmed indoor sunglasses yet I cannot play anarcho schitz jazz sax like this badboy...? mysterious.
The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think! Love this golden duo and their musical family!
Oh by the way, which one is pink?
yep, they're as unique and one of a kind as Steely Dan were.
There's something special about Susan and Derek. The whole band ROCKS!!

I always loved how Derek appeared to admire Kofi. True genius recognizing true genius.

It takes time for your musical palette to develop, only those with a true appreciation of musical talent get to enjoy TTB. Congrats, you made the list
Totally agree.l
Totally agree with you.

Set list, anyone?
Idle Wind isn't the same song live without Kofi. I absolutely love the song but I'd almost rather they didn't play it. Almost.
We do miss the flute. As some comfort, Gabe Dixon is quite a great keyboard player, and an excellent songwriter and singer, too, IMO.
@@brambo1668 I absolutely love Gabe, his voice, lyrics, and his keyboard playing.
Who is on Derek’s tshirt?
I believe it's Howlin' Wolf at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival in August 1969. Iconic photo by Jim Marshall.
