just in a year i went from not even using my rear break cant even do a U-TURN to locking my wheel doing a U-TURN..now i cant get that lean as good as you but every time i ride i practice with my rear break at slow speed and i get better every day. no lie Rob i learned how to ride watching you're videos!!! i thank you for that
That’s fantastic Ryan! The biggest part of your success is on you brother. You actually took the time to watch the videos and then went out and practiced!
That was EXCELLENT, Robert! The left turn at full lock from a dead stop /after/ the bike started to tip… 😮 …I am stupefied. You never fail to give me something to rise to! Thank You
Because of your videos, my skills have improved emensly. A major plus for me is that you stick to the subject without anything political or smartass remarks pertaining to politics unlike other moto officers...thank you
Robert, I'm back! This I'm here so you can be the first to hear from me that I christened both floorboards for the first time today. Got three scrapes u-turning left, and said, "Well I can't be uneven about it" and managed one scrape to the right. Coolest feeling ever and I've probably been a centimeter away for like two weeks. I barely leaned any more than I already was and I was already pretty much doing full lock turns consistently. So far, just quick mid-turn scrapes. Nothing full turn or in a circle yet, but still. For those reading and still trying to get full-lock, floor-board scraping u-turns, you should definitely feel like the motorcycle is "pulling you through the turn." Definitely the best description of how it feels. With sufficient power to the wheel, it really just kind of feels like any other turn or manuever. There's nothing unstable about it when you do it correctly, despite your brain telling you "this is going to be unstable" as you approach the turn, it's really not. I had to go a little faster than what I had been practicing, but the difference in my radius wasn't even noticeable and was probably tighter with the additional lean.
Out of ALL of your bikes Valiant is my favorite!!! Would love to see her in person someday!! Iam really looking forward to the Ohio practice session!!! I want to be dragging boards on my Road King I imagine Iam going to drop it a few times, but Iam stubborn and I know it can do it I just need to get out of my own head and relax!
I need to thank you so much Robert. I don’t have 2 years of compound experience but since I found your channel I feel more in control of my motorcycle. U turns were a stress to make and anything slow speed was a real challenge. Not so much nowadays thanks to your teaching. Also, I completed MSF course today. Course was great, great group, great instructor. I introduced a few people to the channel and invited them to become preloaders and a few people already knew about the channel. I can't tell you how much my watching your videos helped. I just followed steps one through 4 the whole time. Trust and believe saved me a few times during u-turns on the tiny trainer bike but my u-turns were already several feet smaller than the box my very first time. I was able to practice slow starts and stops, slow ride, turns from a stop, and lots of friction zone + rear break control in between exercises and training rounds. Gained a ton of confidence just going through your excercises on top of what the teacher was teaching. Came out of the class with so much validation of what you're teaching, and introduced the teacher to your channel. She's been teaching MSF course every weekend for years so I'm hoping she can help us gather together another group to get you to Dallas-Fort Worth again and not force you to cancel!

So grateful for your help, Robert! Saw your channel and subscribed and began watching almost a month ago. Today was my first ride since then. I enjoy riding my '07 FLHR locally in my part of Southern California. But, especially in the last few years I've been riding less and less, and of course that has eroded my confidence and increased my anxiety. But your instruction got me very excited to try and begin practicing the basic POSITIVITY steps and habits that YOU have used to develop your professional career skills. This is already too long and I could go on about a bunch of other things. But I have to tell you that I totally relate to your presentation style and, particularly, how you sometimes broaden the context of your topics by rephrasing one of your principles or concepts immediately, right on the fly. Your genuine care and authenticity shines through. For me, today's short little ride to the dentist and back, with just a little bit of practice time thrown in, was a complete motorcycle game changer! Thank you so much.
Thank you for watching and subscribing to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😁 I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! Believe it or not, this is a short message compared to many that I receive here and other platforms, so it’s perfectly fine. Are you aware that I will be in Southern California next month (5/20 & 5/21) for a Traveling Practice Session?
Lately this has been a must watch channel for me , riding season is starting soon where I am in Canada and I'm going to practice a whole lot of these especially trust and believe.
Hi Cue I have to tell you I have you now and my TV I was an avid rider since I was 10 years old I’m 68 mentally and Physically great . I stopped riding 30 years ago . My wife of 30 yrs passed away last year . I know therapy is good but riding a motorcycle is better . I bought my first Harley Davidson this year and slow riding a lot but it’s hard to fell comfortably not there yet but getting close and yes everyday is best even if it is for 10 min. So as always love your channel Rob

@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Passed the test. They only told me to do two figure eights in the parking lot and said take as much room as you need. I did mine at 15’ wide going about 2-3 mph. Was shocked that was all they required in Russellville, AR. Oh well, at least I can maneuver at low speed now. Thanks again.

Hi Rob. This is the best video you or anyone else has made about slow skill riding. Pretty much every drill after your first 2 is based on this skill: u-turn; and, you just demonstrated every aspect of that skill. I will watch this video 100 times while practicing just as much. I think that if you can do consistent 22-24’ u-turns, you can do all of the other drills.
Thank you so much for your videos! As soon as it stops raining here in Indiana, I am going out and practicing these skills. I really appreciate all of the different ways you explained the u-turns today. Not sure if I can do that u-turn from a stop, but I'm going to get it down to two parking spaces one of these days!

It’s a bit difficult for me to learn since here in Puerto Rico there is no a single motorcycle school. I’m picking up my first bike this week. I hope to put on practice a lot of things I have seen on your videos 🫡.
Brother id love to see a helmet cam view of these maneuvers to get a good rider perspective of head placement and hand positions for all this i think that would really help make these principles click!! Love your channel brother preload, and keep it loaded always!!!

I've heard you and a few others comment about how the bike stands upright when power is delivered to the rear wheel because "it's a gyroscopic machine" (including in this video). But this doesn't make sense when the bike is barely moving. There is no gyroscopic effect holding the bike up at slow speeds, and yet power to the rear wheel still makes the bike want to get upright even when the bike is barely moving. It's been bugging me because I know the physics of that explanation didn't' make sense but I didn't have an answer, but then I saw this video. It's another trainer out of Russia. Great channel as well once you get used to his accent. The whole video is good, but scroll to the 2:40 mark and he has a great explanation of why the bike stays upright with power at very slow speeds and it's not related to the gyroscopic effect and it makes a lot of sense. The information here is applicable to turning as well. ua-cam.com/video/KhFEnjo7fz4/v-deo.html
Informative video Robert! I'm going to get my butt down to Pooler this year for a session too. I haven't been down that way in a long time and I want to ride St. Simons Island and other places. The two sessions I did in MD were tons of fun and a blast meeting other preloaders and seeing them improve their skills. Plus, the practice would be good for me as I'm riding a motor EVOC recert course in August or September. It's always good to further hone the basics.
I figured out what the deal is ... with respect to physics... why "head and eyes" turned to the intended point of turn target. True, we can turn tightly without the head and eyes turned... after some time doing it with turning the eyes and head; BUT, that's because, if you pay attention, the goal of turning the head and eyes is not so much turning them, but, what happens to the REST of your body that follows them! When you turn your head and your eyes, notice what happens to your spine. Your spine shifts in the opposite direction. That causes your center of gravity to shift to the side of the bike your spine shifts to. So, the REAL objective is to shift the center of gravity to the opposite side of the bikes turn in order to take advantage of "counter weighting" the bike. That shift contributes to beginning the lean of the bike. I have been trying to proceduralize making a u-turn from the beginning. I have watched and watched and performed and practiced every single night after working out, after work at the nuclear power plant. I am known for having a little OCD with respect to procedures. EVERYTHING we do successfully can be repeated ... by a procedure. Our brains work in sequence, so, our brains already create a checklist of things to do, in precise order, so that we can survive. We never ate the deer before we caught it! So part of the procedure includes the turn of the head, so that the body follows, and the spine shifts, and then the center of gravity shifts, and then the bike begins to lean.
Yes, wheel base length. I can do 17 footers on the EG but not on the pro street with a 74 inch wheel base. But I do it in less the 21 foot. thanks to your technics!!
Great video, best u turn instruction i have seen. I am practicing a lot and dropped my ultra 3 x times so far..... i am very afraid of turning full lock, never done this so far. Any suggestions that might help?
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Full lock turns aren’t really necessary. However, if you really want to do them, watch one of my Practice Session videos.
Great video. Do you use the rear brake while in the turn, or before the turn? I have a bad habit of using my front brake during a turn, and I end up using my feet to keep upright or end up making a wide turn. Thanks for the great instructional video.
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle It depends on my speed. Usually I drag it during the turn. Don’t ever touch that front brake during slow speed maneuvers.
Saw a video of you riding through parts of Destination Daytona at slow speeds and bussin' U-turns. I was like that's all computer generated what he's doing. I subscribed to your channel now and sir I am very impressed with how informative this video is. I was already feeling funny because trying to complete a U-Turn with my wife on the back opened my eyes to how much practice I need. Now I'm taking your advice and practicing whenever I ride on post. Thanks for doing this. Can't wait to check out more of your vids. I'm a fan now. Do you have a video when you're 2 up and doing these maneuvers?

can i ask a question Rob? i know you always answer you are the only one that always answers every time no one ever answers me but you do...when you locked that wheel from a stop and did that U-TURN can you do that same move with you're wife on the back?? most of my riding i have my wife with me can that be done the same???
Thanks Rob for what you do. I've learned so much in two years watching your vids and I am the boss of my motorcycle now. I would like to know if their is anything I can do different if I run into another situation like I did a few weeks ago having only my motorcycle to run to the store at night for my wife cause my daughter had my truck for work and I live out 15 miles from town out in the country and the two lane country road is in-between state forest preserve and no street lights nor any moonlight and I had to make a u turn because I forgot something from the house and I did what I learned I was in 1st gear had my rear brake covered had plenty of power to the rear tire and friction zone right where I always have it at in a u turn and head and eyes was turned way before I comitted the turn and it was so dark looking back my brain was telling my body nope but I made the turn but it wasn't easy at all because following the head light while going straight and then have to u turn into total darkness I was choppy on my rear brake so can I do anything different if I ever have to do that again?
another great vid. I still think that slow speed makes a rider, not saying that Im the best at slow speed but anyone can go fast and straight. I have 2 bikes, I ride a Ultra Limited and a Sportster 1200 Custom
I love your videos. They have really helped me a lot being 71, I never did any slow riding techniques till I started watching your videos. ? I my wife and I wanted to become VIP pre loaders will it be 10.00 a month or 5.00 a month. We are on a limited income both retired and don't have a lot of money during these unprecedented times. We also live in Sugar Hill, GA and probably couldn't come but once a month. Can you wife do speciality feel shirts that has individual pictures that say I am the boss of my motorcycle? I look forward to your reply.

I have seen Jerry Paladino recommending doing some of these maneuvers in 2nd gear rather than first. What do you think about the merits of that? (I ride a Honda ST1300).
Robert, had a question for you. On the motorcycle you are using in this video, is it equipped with drop guards? Thinking of getting them for my '16 FLHTK to allow me to practice more without the fear of damaging the bike. Thanks!
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle , I am subscribed and have learned a lot. Would love to take a class with you, any chance you would come to Vermont to do a 1 or 2 day class?
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle You have to finesse that throttle and drag that rear brake.
Why is it that I'm afraid of fully turning my handle bars? I feel like I'm going to fall or something.Thats why I cant make my u-turns .Is there some kind of practice I can do?

One question, have you ever seen the front tire slide out on a motorcycle during low speed maneuvers on a clean dry surface without scraping hard parts ?
Is it normal to "feel" like you are going to fall over when doing a U-Turn and training is supposed to make you mentally beat that...or am I not supposed to feel that when I am doing it correctly? Maybe a dumb question.
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Not a dumb question. The more you practice, the least you will feel that way.
I get it that you have to be going 8 t0 10 mph, preload ,turn your head and handle bars to make that 18 ft turn, but what do you physically have to do to make it lean at that slow speed ? Easy at speed, push left MC goes left, push right MC goes right, that wont work at 8mph
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle I’m happy that my channel has been helpful to you! That makes all the time and effort that I put into this so worthwhile! Just push the motorcycle over. Definitely keep watching my videos. It will become easier to understand all of this.
I heard a wise man say - If you’ve been riding for 30 years, you don’t have 30 years of experience. You have one year of experience, and you’ve simply repeated it 29 times.
Statistics say the majority or riders will crash in the first 5 yrs of learning to ride ...Ive seen it .Your Wise man sounds like profiler....the type that rides to the local shop an home and after 30 years only has 1000 miles on his bolt on bike .😅😂
I hope this video helped clear some things up for you guys. If you’re not subscribed to my channel, please do so. It really helps me out, it’s free and you only have to do it once.

For me, today's short little ride to the dentist and back, with just a little bit of practice time thrown in, was a complete motorcycle game changer! Thank you so much.

Great attitude Buddy. Thanks for your wonderful tips! I'm determined to be the best rider I can.

Hey. Thank you very much! Absolutely!👍🏾
$30,000 worth of reason's has me second guessing these maneuvers. I wish I was the boss of my 21 street glide!

Thank you very much!
Thanks brother! I’m looking forward to it!
I love it!! Each one, teach one!😁👍🏾
Yes, wheel base length.
I can do 17 footers on the EG but not on the pro street with a 74 inch wheel base. But I do it in less the 21 foot.

I like your boots too, Indie Ridge?
Thank you very much! Yes Indie Ridge. I love them!👍🏾
Great video. Do you use the rear brake while in the turn, or before the turn? I have a bad habit of using my front brake during a turn, and I end up using my feet to keep upright or end up making a wide turn. Thanks for the great instructional video.

It depends on my speed.

Yes I can. Would I? No.
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Once you know you are going to make a u-turn, pay attention to what you’re seeing on the road in the opposite lane and then make the turn. Even if you can’t really see anything when you turn your head and eyes, you know that you just saw that portion of the road a second ago and it was clear.

7-8 mph.
do it over and over and over and over again, adding gradual lean, it will just get smaller as you practice it , its all about the dip baby

If you both become V.I.Preloaders, it will be $10 a month. My wife doesn’t do specialty shirts.
I have seen Jerry Paladino recommending doing some of these maneuvers in 2nd gear rather than first. What do you think about the merits of that? (I ride a Honda ST1300).
On some motorcycles, like the Goldwing, it may give you more control because the throttle is so sensitive.
I'm going to give it a go and see what happens. I just wish we had big empty carparks near London.

No
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Thank you, this is what I'm mostly worried about and I'm working on getting over this fear with practice.
1:21 🙂 HAHAHAHAHAAH
