Thank you for the videos and advice. I used to ride a smaller motorcycle than in July of 23 went to a 2015 road glide custom. It is very different. Unfortunately on October 7th I was involved in a hit and run and the guy hit me with his car and left me in the road. Dislocated my left shoulder. Pulled my right mcl and tore my right acl. Luckily I was by myself. We will get another motorcycle this year. I say this not for sympathy but because after that accident I found your videos. Since watching them I have more confidence with the bagger now. Of course I am nervous excited. I am nervous because the last time I was on a motorcycle I got hit. I am excited because the last time I was on a motorcycle I got hit. I won't let this experience stop the wife's and I love for riding. So again thank for for the help especially with the back brake and to stop putting down both feet. I always used the preload but I use to much front brake. And I see that I must sit straight up. Again what you are doing is amazing. Keep it up.

13:23 I needed to hear this. I'm having such a hard time approaching a red light, and going back into the friction zone. I got my first bike about 3 weeks ago (2016 Victory Highball), and I'm scared to put such a heavy bike into the friction zone as I'm trying to come to a stop. Terrible thoughts of rear-ending someone because I give it too much or don't push the rear brake hard enough. I'll practice this exercise this weekend.

Perfect timing! I was looking for just this. My 250's friction zone doesnt get me to the end of the stop. Is it ok to apply throttle again or am I stopping too soon? When I close throttle, my bike loses a lot of speed instantly (like both brakes were applied) and I apply back brake only to let cars know I'm braking. Thank you.
Thank you for your videos. This is my biggest fear as I'm a new rider. While you're getting into the friction zone while stopping are you applying any throttle or just the idle RPM for stability?
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Yes. Preload the throttle.
I have a BMW R1300GS ASA which means no clutch to grab, no friction zone and linked brakes (one lever on the right side). How would I modify this technique for my bike?
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle You would have to use the throttle and rear brake.
Good video thanks. I’m a bit confused by your comment “power to the rear wheel, when you are in the friction zone”. If there is zero throttle, you won’t send any power to the rear by staying in the friction zone. Or are you saying that idle throttle provides the power in the friction zone but only at crawling speed? If this is what you mean, then a small bike may not perform the same way using idle torque and the clutch this way. Can you help clarify what you mean?
Thank you very much! It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle Watch this video. ua-cam.com/video/7tlwjC28lqc/v-deo.htmlsi=OQuC8H1Gp1PYKDJ8
Perhaps. Again, it’s really a “feel thing”.👍🏾 Thank you very much for further supporting my channel by becoming a V.I.Preloader! It’s really appreciated!
Is the throttle just at idle ? I have tried this all summer with some success but mostly I am gaining speed ! Like you said now a small amount of friction so can you confirm idle not preload as normal ? My rear brake is definitely not wining the battle
No the throttle needs to be loaded to be in the friction zone. Not a lot- just enough!! Honestly that’s the weird part to me. To load (if you’re rolling) to get into the friction zone to stop smoothly. 🤦🏼♀️
The throttle should be loaded. Remember the load is to keep the bike from stalling. The clutch is what determines how much power goes to the rear wheel. You’re in the friction zone too much if you’re going to fast. By the way, what kind of motorcycle are you riding?

You’re an awesome teacher. I appreciate the level of detail, instruction, and then the application on the bike. I’ve learned much more from you than other channels that I have visited. Thank you.

Keep it up.

I’m sorry to hear about your accident and I’m glad you’re ok. I’m also glad you’re not giving up. Just take it slow. Practice starting with my warm-up exercise. Get extremely comfortable with that before you move on. 👍🏾

Most excellent breakdown of how to stop a motorcycle the right way!😎👏
Thanks brother!👍🏾
i love the friction zone!

Thanks for another great video. I wish you had classes in Phoenix, AZ.

Thanks Robert trust and believe.😎

Once again, another great video
Thank you very much!

If you are a preloader will it cost anything to join your session in another location?
I think you’re inquiring about a V.I.Preloader. V.I.Preloaders practice with me for free in Pooler, GA only.
hey Robert can you do something on emergency stops? I have a 2021 Road Glide Special that brakes well but back in the day I had a bike without ABS and it the wheels locked and I almost lost control. I would love to see you do an emergency controlled stop on one of your new bikes.

I just might do that.

Thank you, Robert. Another great video which I practice regularly.
My heart rate still goes up because I second guess which gear I should be in.
When I go to the friction zone for a stop, should I be in second gear or first gear?
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you very much!
You should be in 1st gear. Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle

Love it brother thanks for your reminders
My pleasure.
Thank you.

As long as your clutch is open, your throttle should be engaged. Preload!!! And Keep It Loaded!!!! ©
Thank you for your videos. This is my biggest fear as I'm a new rider. While you're getting into the friction zone while stopping are you applying any throttle or just the idle RPM for stability?
It’s my pleasure. 😊 Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
Yes. Preload the throttle.

I have a BMW R1300GS ASA which means no clutch to grab, no friction zone and linked brakes (one lever on the right side). How would I modify this technique for my bike?
Thank you for watching and hopefully you’re subscribed to my UA-cam channel!👍🏾😊 ua-cam.com/users/BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle
You would have to use the throttle and rear brake.
@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle yes, I have subscribed - your channel is great!
1:05 I nearly fell of the chair. 😅
😂
Good video thanks. I’m a bit confused by your comment “power to the rear wheel, when you are in the friction zone”. If there is zero throttle, you won’t send any power to the rear by staying in the friction zone. Or are you saying that idle throttle provides the power in the friction zone but only at crawling speed? If this is what you mean, then a small bike may not perform the same way using idle torque and the clutch this way.
Can you help clarify what you mean?

Robert, should i be pre-loaded all the way until my feet hits the ground and the stop is complete?

@@BeTheBossOfYourMotorcycle so I must have too much clutch when I am gaining speed and not stopping I’ll keep practicing 😃
👍🏾
Instead of just RIDING the bike to a less than controlled stop, DRIVE the bike to a fully controlled stop. Make it stop when and where you want it to.
