Incredibly well put together video! Really impressive job covering all of that information in a digestible, entertaining way. Hoping to finish up my part of this soon!
i thought I was the only one who fought with companies when their stuff doesn't work right....you went as high up as I would have gone but I may have gotten a few of my friends to bombard the owners with tones of emails and facebook and forum posts all over the internet....for a few hundred dollar part, it would have been worth it to replace your part for free and get positive feedback instead of choosing the route they took....came over from Fuzzy dice channel after watching his original post of this experience...thanks for all your hard work
Hey all, if you are coming here around the time that this comment is posted, and are getting a "video unavailable" message, it should be back up shortly and is not the result of any kind of removal. I made a quick adjustment on the back end that appears to have caused the whole video to reprocess. I appreciate your patience and for taking the time to come check out my video/channel!
Good video and glad you took the time to remove the potting and show the board. Poor soldering affects companies big and small and you're correct, how they handle it makes the difference. I would suggest the next time you have an expert evaluate something, let them talk and don't talk over them.
Ive had zero issues with my fitec units, and ive owned 3 of them but they were 70050’s which are mpfi LS units….i still have one boxed up in the garage saved for a rainy day project, i went to a terminator x on my c/10 and nova when i added boost!!!
I have also been fighting with fitech, the just replaced my ecu under warranty and "updated" my handheld tuner. it hasnt ran since. they sent me a file to update my handheld. It bricked and now to get a new one i have to pay for it. excellent customer service that is. thanks @fitech
I noticed after we made our two videos they extended the warranty from one year to three, I like to think we got a lot of people's attention with those videos
Great episode, I had no idea going with a "simple" efi system could be such a nightmare. I'm glad it seems to have worked out in the end courtesy of holley.
You're not the only one that has been accused of slander. Some years ago I left a very negative review of a respected brand name multimeter I bought from Home Depot. Apparently it upset them so much they contacted HD which gave up my info. HD swore they didn't but I was contacted by the email and phone number attached to that account. The phone number was fairly new and HD was about the only place I'd used it. They were particularly upset that I'd taken it apart and discovered it was a rebranded korean model available online for a fraction of the price. They claimed that the Korean model was a copy, but it had reviews and teardown photos going back several years. The expensive one I bought had only been out a few months. Of course after going back and forth a while, they accused me of working for a competitor and HD took my review down not long after. It's sad. The company makes other products that I have used for decades that are still good. Just don't leave them a negative review. I do notice that according to linkedin the guy I was talking to now works for harbor freight. Hopefully that means the quality has improved.
It's crazy how far companies will go to deny their product flaws, while also trying to protect their image instead of just admitting they shipped a defective product and making it right.
This is why on my next tbi efi system i bought i went with aces efi….their systems have the ecu mounted remotely and not stuffed in a heat soaked agitated throttle body mounted in the harshest location under the hood…..what were they thinking😂😂😂
I kinda feel like having the ECU mounted directly to the throttle body is in general a terrible idea, brings to mind the PMD modules on the 6.5L turbo diesel engines in older GM trucks, where the module is mounted directly to the injection pump and those modules ALWAYS fail because they get too hot!
Hello, I really appreciate your work, showing the quality of a product, which at the time was a scam. I am dedicated to installing programmable injection systems, and something that must be clear is that all the products are made in China, what makes the difference is the support that the manufacturer gives you, I had problems with a Holley sniper, but I They changed it under warranty, without any problem, and I will buy from them again.
Looking forward to new content! Owning cars/bikes is a learning lesson and can take a long time to get things right. I should know, with 3 cars and 5 bikes that constantly have their own little problems along their individual timelines....
@@Blurredman you know, that might be a good video to do. I'll have to figure out how to rig up a second fuel pump for carb pressures. I'll also try and get a good cruising mpg figure once I get the transmission and exhaust tweaked a little more
I'd love to pick up one of these with a failed ECU and see if it could be run with a GM LS motor ECU or a speeduino. Strangely, while I hear of these failing all the time I never see them for sale used for parts. That body mount is a very hostile environment for electronics so with the poor build quality it's not surprising they fail.
I think a few people have actually run the FiTech body with a megasquirt computer with good results, the casting is pretty decent, just bad electronics

The exhaust is mostly done and filmed, going to try and get it edited and uploaded in the coming weeks! Just need to get proper exhaust hangers, have it all hung with wire for now.
Great content and video. Some segments you can feel that your struggling with the script (your verbal cadence is off) but other than that nice video. You earned a sub.
Hello it sure does seem like it's fixable I would say don't give up put it on another engine and test it out that's a ton of work though but in the end you could point that out to the crappy company and say hey I fixed your broken unit and you guys couldn't fix it even though you didn't do anything when you had it for a month going to give you peace of mind knowing that you can fix their broken crappy product good stuff man

yeah I am sure that does not help either! So far so good still with the Holley Sniper setup, which uses the same form factor.
