Great option for urban trips! Been following them for awhile now, I believe the Eli ZERO has been homologated and street-legal in both Europe and the U.S! 👍Keep it up, Eli!
Perfect for resorts, suburban areas with traffic, narrow roads, luxurious interior design that protects you from rain. Storage space that scooters and bicycles do not have
You are going to need to tow this if you need to move. It needs higher mpg to put it on the highway since some cities is almost impossible to go anywhere without going on a freeway
I'm curious about how it is at winter. How many degrees can you expect the heater to increase temperature, compared to outside? How would that affect the range?
I guess it is an L6e category quadricycle. Why not L7e and top speed up to 80km/h ?! In tgat price range you can buy tge Dacia Spring EV for 13,000 € (in Germany) and have no issues with roads, speed etc.
Since they're calling this a neighborhood vehicle and almost all neighborhoods have city streets how can you possibly drive around if it's not street legal? Wouldn't this be like driving a four wheeler around and getting a ticket for driving it on city streets? Am I missing something here
In Sweden, this would be for 15 year olds that have rich parents. Some would definately buy this. By some I mean like 0,001% of all 15 year olds in sweden which equals to 125 vehicles per year. That is an annual revenue of over one million dollars from sweden alone
This kind of misses the point. Electrification of transportation will have different types of vehicle for different use cases - just we already have had for decades with ICE vehicles. And the price point the manufacturer is aiming at is pretty reasonable, especially if paired with the different EV incentive programmes. For anyone living & working locally & possibly with charging at work, this is a (really) cheap transportation option. In Germany for example, they've a very good EV incentive programme. It's €9,000 or ~$10,200 per vehicle. So a first time driver, in their 1st job straight out of school, could get a brand new car for ~$1,700 without having to worry too much about costly maintenance issues normally associated with your usual cheap ICE clunker. What's not to like about that?
@@pinkelephants1421 I can get a used car for $3,000 around here that can go highway. No government subsidies required. You aren't solving any real problem here by spending $10k of taxpayer money.
@@lepidoptera9337 Sure you can get a used car for $3,000 or here in the UK, for a few hundred pounds. But then you have the high costs of maintenance & fueling as I pointed out in my original comment. Many countries are providing EV incentives, it just so happens that Germany's are extraordinarily generous. Incentives won't last forever but the increasing rate of climate change means its urgent to prompt behavioural changes & that includes modes of transportation & purchasing choices in general. Don't forget Gov't provided eco tech incentives aren't limited EV's. Here in the UK you can get help with insulation, glazing upgrades, home batteries, solar panels, heat pumps/installation, 🏡 chargers + installation & businesses are offered some of the same EV incentives to support charging at work. It's really important to realise there (is) no cheap quick fix to prevent runaway climate change & the damage we've already caused as a species. But if we don't spend the eye watering sums necessary, starting now, not just humanity, but life in general on this rocky blue marble of ours, is going to be in deep shit. For example: UK Gov't estimates there's only 30-40 years left before UK soil fertility collapses due to modern farming practices; incidently this isn't limited to just the UK. Its a worldwide trend that estimates roughly 50-60 years before soil fauna is killed off. You're probably wondering what the hell this has to do with EV's. I'm simply using it as an example of how humanity needs a root & branch change of thinking - & acting, or we're all well & truly stuffed.
@@g.r.bilyeu4226 It's far from being just a toy & is is eminently practical for the purpose for which it was designed - a 1-2 person local runabout. If there's no family or large loads to lug from point A to point B, why do you continue to insist on the same old-fashioned idea of huge inefficient modes of transportation such as SUV's in an urban environment for example? As I've said previously, different tools for different use cases - just as we do with ICE vehicles. Remember the Smart for Two ICE? So, please, enlighten me as to the difference between that and vehicles such the Eli ZERO? It's obviously escaped your notice that there are (many) small EV's coming to market, not that dissimilar to the Eli ZERO in size & capability - they'll sell like hotcakes & one of those outsells Tesla in China by a very wide margin. People are people everywhere. Not everyone needs, or wants, a tank to pop to the local shops for a pint of milk or loaf of bread. Towns & cities are changing & so are many people's mindsets.
The price is not right. A 6kWh battery costs roughly $1000. The motors are a couple hundred. The wheels should be less than $400. So where in the world is the money going?
On every other part? Electronics, frame windows, seats, steering wheel, controls, screen, testing, r+d, and loads more.. although it does sound overpriced still, I wouldn't buy it, but then again I'm not in the market for one.
@@lepidoptera9337 hehe^^ my ebike is probably the best purchase I have ever made but that is beside the point. Check out the Citroen Ami. That is a super duper cheap vehicle that is similarly specd but without the luxury. It costs 6 900 euro which makes the price of Eli not too bad considering that it is a startup. I personally think that the Ami is a better design tho
So citroen ami basically. That's why I'm a bit sceptical for this model - virtually same specs and advantages just more expensive and just a not road legal proto

FYI, for the same money, you can get a 3-4 year old Smart car for $12,000 and that is a real car and very safe by comparison.
I have a 2015 smart Fortwo and it only cost 6000$ with barely any mileage on it.
What about for people who got license suspended ?
@@jessinvests Good question, you should check your local bylaws on something like that though.

This is nice if it can go 50mph for town vehicle. Max speed for town is 45mph.
Great review of "yawn then eye raise at the price and then belly laugh as interest in this slips away quickly" vehicle.
Had the same reaction 😭
Why are cars still so big...like most of us could literally drive one of these...
Thanks "whoever" for fixing the Eli Zero website!!!!

I bought a 4-year-old electric Smart Car with 12k miles for $8k. Already street-legal - LOL
Only thing I like about this is the looks

Thanks for your input! I am looking to get a supplier in Canada. I don't know how to do the transactions! Could you do a video on that please?
What'd you mean I can't be in the bike lane? It's a BIKE!
Would make good neighbourhoods security guards vehicles.
where is this being sold any one know?
I needed one !
An e-bike is probably a better choice if looking for a low speed urban electric transport option.

It IS street legal
Does anyone know the price of these in the UK? I tried to find out and couldn't.
Waiting for N model to come out.
Basically, it's an elctricfied SMART car from back in the days....
Did they say who exactly they are trying to sell this to ?

Wow that price. Its going to be competing against other similar specd vehicles that are much cheaper.
Fancy golf cart.

It would be more useful if it went 30 mph, then it could be potentially be used on local roads in suburbs.
