    If you have a Serta Motion Perfect delivered and assembled at your house, be sure to ask that they adjust the leg height as they assemble. With a thick mattress, you nearly always want the lowest option - but the highest option is their default. I'm going to pay for a repair call to get them adjusted a couple of months later. I can't see how to do it safely myself. Would love a UA-cam on that!

    Hello, thank you for the video. Was wondering would “Perfect Sleeper Elite Trelleburg II 11.5" Firm Mattress” work out well on this adjustable base?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 роки тому

      Hi. That mattress is certainly safe to use on an adjustable base. While we have not tried that exact model on an adjustable base, our guess would be that it will have some small issues typical of firm mattresses -- you can expect some conformance issues, like lifting at the foot, and when you get out of the bed while it's in a "bent" position, it might try to pop back up in the middle. That's all common with firm mattresses that are lighter in weight. Those types of conformance issues usually get better as you use the mattress and break it in.
      Sometimes we see a lot of bunching of the quilt/top layer when bent, but this mattress does not have particularly deep quilting on top, so we would not expect any issues there.
      Hope that helps!

    I need more information about Serta Motion Essentials 4 mattress base.
    1) How many legs are on the King ?
    2) How tall can you make the King legs ?
    3) Can the King base be used on my 4 oak slats without the Serta provided legs ?
    4) If so, do my slats have to start at the headboard and end of the foot edge of the bed ?
    5) Do you have more dimensions and specs on the KING ?
    6) Are there additional steps for the King ?
    7) Are two twins screwed together for every King ? I have a solid one piece King mattress.

    On the Motion Perfect, the end of the mattress where your feet are will be laying on top of the black pieces that the metal retainer bar attaches to. Isn't that bad for the underside of the mattress to always be laying on the two raised up black pieces?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  3 роки тому

      Hi. Ah -- I see what you mean. Those two attachments aren't very big, and keep in mind that not much weight will be on that part of the mattress (just your feet). We haven't heard of this ever being an issue, but I can see where you might think it could be.

    I bought the 900i with a 25cm mattress. I don’t like the height of it. If I did remove the 6inch legs will this be a problem? I have the 3inch leg which I can attach to the 6inch making 9inch. But the Manuel reads not to attach the 3inch alone.
    Any recommendations?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I would surmise that that the reason the manual states this is because the mechanical parts under the platform that elevate the mattress need a certain amount of clearance to be able to function. So that if you were to try to elevate the base with only 3" legs, these parts would hit the floor and the base would not be able to fully elevate. Worse yet, doing this could even damage the base and likely would void your warranty as well.
      That said, we would recommend calling the manufacturer to confirm this. It's possible they have an accessory to solve the problem.
      I hope that's helpful.

    Can you put any kind of mattress with these adjustable bases??..which mattress is better for these kind of adjustable bases?..is memory foam better than coil spring mattress??

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +1

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Any mattress that is compatible for use on an adjustable base (which is the majority of mattresses these days) would be compatible with these bases. If you are considering a spring mattress, it would just need to use pocketed coils instead of connected coils. Any all-foam mattress would be compatible to one degree or another. There is not a uniform best type of mattress for adjustable base compatibility though -- for example, some pocketed coil mattresses perform way better on our adj base compatibility tests than some all-foam mattresses -- which is why we make sure to evaluate this attribute in our mattress reviews. You can see which mattresses we've reviewed here:

      Hi Karen. That is a really good question. But because furniture varies so much in its construction, it's hard to say how well it will fit out of the box. All of these adjustable bases do come with an adapter kit (or sell one as an accessory) to attach it to your headboard or bed frame. You might check out the Serta adjustable base owner manual to see if the type of headboard attachment that's included looks like it will work with the bed frame you have:

    What kind of mattress works with adjustable beds?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +6

      Hi there. Thanks for the question. Most mattresses today will work on an adjustable base, and the product information will always tell you if they are compatible. Generally, a mattress that's all-foam will work, as well as hybrid (innerspring) mattresses that use pocketed coils. Any mattress that comes compressed and shipped in a box is going to be compatible.
      The ones you should question are older-style innerspring beds, particularly ones with a metal wire that runs along the edge of the bed. That metal cable isn't meant to bend, and the mattress will be ruined if you try to use it on an adjustable base.
      Here's a buyer's guide for adjustable bases that talks about which mattresses work best: www.goodbed.com/adjustable-beds/

    What are the different heights ( in inches ) that the adjustable legs can be set at ?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 роки тому +1

      Hi there -- Thanks for your question. For each of the bases shown, the height shown in the video is the tallest possibility, and you can lower them in 2-3" increments from there (IIRC the legs consist of two 3" segments + one 2" segment that can be screwed together in any order or permutation). Both the Motion Essentials and Motion Perfect bases do have a zero clearance design, which means they can be used without legs at all, so that would be the lowest they can be (~8" lower than what is shown). Of course, most people would only remove the legs entirely if they were planning to put the base on a platform.
      I hope that's helpful.

    Does Serta still make the Motion Perfect base? I noticed it looks like both head and foot end each have dual actuators towards the outside. Is that how it's made? I'm looking for a base built like that.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому

      Hi David -- Thanks for your question. AFAIK Serta has never actually manufactured their own adjustable bases. Typically, mattress brands will design the specifications for an adjustable base and the contract out the manufacturing to a 3rd party. Naturally, the manufacturing partners are subject to change over time, but the brand themselves (Serta in this case) is typically the company that stands behind the resulting product.
      As far as your question, I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "dual actuators towards the outside". Are you referring to a split base design whereby each side of the base can be independently raised and lowered? If so, this is typically achieved by purchasing two separate Twin XL bases (and mattresses) that can be placed side by side and will fit inside a king-size bed frame. The alternative is to purchase a special mattress with a split head (available from some manufacturers in queen, king, and cal king).
      I hope that's helpful.

    Can you add just a head board to the motion perfect base and will it be sturdy?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Debbie -- Thanks for your question. Most adjustable bases will have a place to attach either a headboard or bed frame to them. This would work in much the same way as you would attach a headboard to a conventional bed frame. The attachment is generally with 1-2 pretty sizable bolts on each side of the bed, so it should be pretty sturdy in such a case.
      That said, to be sure this base has this feature, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer first to confirm it with them.
      Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  4 роки тому +1

      @@debbiereed8017 Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of that advice. I could see how that could be an issue if it's just a single bolt on each side of the bed but if there are two bolts (one on top of each other) on each side of the bed then I would think that would be sufficient.
      Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

    How is the King Serta Motion Perfect IV Adjustable Base Lumbar support like?

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  Рік тому

      Hi Cristina -- The version we tested here had head tilt feature, but not a lumbar support feature. That said, we have tested bases with a lumbar support flap that tilts up and pushes up into the mattress under your lumbar area and have found these to have a pronounced effect. Just be aware that a) most people won't generally want / need to activate the lumbar support when your hear or foot is elevated, and b) you will only want to use the lumbar support when you are on your back as it can actually be counter-productive from a spinal alignment standpoint when you are lying in other positions.
      I hope that's helpful.

    • @goodbed
      @goodbed  2 роки тому

      Hi Lee -- Thanks for your question. This depends entirely on the mattress. For some mattresses, bending them like this can be fatal, leaving damage that can not be repaired and a voided warranty. That said, many mattresses today are specifically designed to be used this way. But even for those mattresses, the degree to which they are adjustable base compatible is not as black or white as they'd like you to believe. For this reason, we test and rate adjustable base compatibility in each of our in-depth mattress reviews, so if this is an important criteria for you, I'd suggest checking out the products we've reviewed and rated highly on this front as a starting point.

      Hi Jorge. There is a good comparison chart on the Serta website that includes features, weight limits and warranty info: www.serta.com/adjustable-foundations#compare-foundations
      In short, the "Essentials" has a limit of 650 and the "Perfect" is 850. As for adult activities, many couples enjoy adjustable bases since raising the head or foot of the bed can allow for different and more comfortable positions. A well-made supportive adjustable base will have no stability issues with typical use, which certainly includes sex.
