@@GoProTips Dear Ron, Thanks for the reply. I've already watched the video. As I plan to use multiple GoPros on my adventure motorcycle, I'll be shooting short clips frequently. This means I'll likely have at least 50 clips per camera at the end of each day. Given that the cameras will be mounted in various locations on my bike, it's impractical to show the QR code to each screen during my rides.
Don't believe his hype about this being a GoPro 13 demo. But hey, who cares about that? Let's talk about this amazing Singapore food vlog. It's like a masterclass in really using an action camera. @@AdventuresofRonDoes the macro lens look exactly like the standard lens when turned to the distance side… so I could leave it on all the time and get the same footage as standard lens too?
is it possible to turn the background unsharp and making a potrait picture of a person or video with the macro lens mod if i stay within the 2 feet distance you mentioned? i've seen it in some of your video frames, but in others i didn't. wondering if its working also for portrait pictures
it's possible if the subject is close (an arms length away) - but from 2ft you might not get that shallow depth of field. *Macro lens mod works for photos too!
It’s the variable focus distance & the rotating lens ring of the macro lens mod for me! & with focus peaking it makes it so much easier to ensure the shot is in focus!
@markr is right! you dont need 'focus peaking' without macro lens mod. the objective of focus peaking is to aid in determining what is in-focus. but for the standard GoPro lens is has a 'fixed focus' where everything in the shot is in-focus, with a min. focal distance of ~60cm. unfortunately the UI is NOT tuned to 3rd party lenses like INON lenses
@@AdventuresofRon the inon Lens give the GoPro a depth of field of less than 2 cm, from 4.8cm to 6.2 cm. To bring things in focus I have to move the camera, if this function would be available, I could see on the screen the edge of what is in focus, helping me.
@@AdventuresofRon I would love to see that! If it’s set to wide view does the distance part of the macro lens looks the same as the standard in wide view? I would like to just leave it on and get the best of both worlds if possible…
I didn't know that Singapore was so good 😮. Nice vídeo i was thinking how good was the focus with the Macro lens looks pretty good but i dunno it's a bite rare on the edges.
@@markr041 Yeah you just made that up. It's more reliable than even dslr like canon fuji or lumix with the exception of sony. There's not even a depth of field if the subject is far away. Of course the action 5 has to have manual settings if you want it to focus to infinity. But i doubt it'll have AF.
@greensprite4979 I shoot with the Pocket 3, the Canon R5, the Sony fx3, the Nikon Z8, the Hero12, the Ace Pro, the Lumix S5 ii. Don't tell me I make it up. I shoot sports, dancers, musicians, wildlife. I know what AF can and can't do. You get your info from Googling? Bigger sensors, for the same aperture and focal length = shallower DOF. You do not want a 1" sensor for an action cam. Sony makes one; terrible AF. Anyway, the Pocket 3 is not an action cam; it is fragile.

so I watched this entire video waiting for the "hidden feature" to be talked about. I saw none. Was it focus peaking?
That's right! Focus peaking was the 'hidden feature'
You're the best at reviewing GoPros. It would be great if you could include a part about timecode synchronization

Will the macro mod fit on older gopros?
Unfortunately it will not. Esp since there has been some upgrades to accommodate Auto Detection
