I believe that this will literally be his first time fighting them in the campaign, which is pretty crazy when I've fought them so many times that I've completely lost count!
2 videos ago: Tapcat: I think we need some Intel. I'll work on this cache. Last video: Syken: oooh look at all the Intel...spends it all in the black market. This video: Tapcat: we need Intel so I'll just work on this cache.
I've also gotten a kick out of this as I watch his videos. To be fair, though, the stuff he bought in the black market was really good and we're maxed out on our resistance contacts now so I don't feel bad about picking up items as good as a superior scope. And with the African Continent bonus we recently locked in, the weapon upgrades will be even more useful in this campaign than they usually are.
The facility missions (and the gateway mission) really show off how good the art is in this game, even if the fidelity isn't the best, it's such a good looking game
I've always thought that this was a fairly nice looking game, although it certainly wasn't trying to push the boundaries of the graphics frontier when it came out.
Yeah, I botched that encounter when I moved my soldier to a spot where I knew we might trigger a pod and did it late in my turn. Pretty much every bad thing that happened after that probably could have been avoided if I had just done what I knew I should and avoided the enemy's line of sight until the following turn.
Great job on Viper Scrub (sorry, King)! One thing you could have done as he was leaving was use suppression rather than regular overwatch as you'd get a bonus chance to hit when he moves. Not to mention you'd definitely have gotten the shot off, weird that overwatch didn't trigger there.
I don't assume that I would have gotten a shot from suppression. I understand that I should, but as you said I should have gotten one from overwatch as well. At the end of the day, this is Xcom and one can only rely on how mechanisms should work up to a certain point.
@@TapCat so, as chance would have it I tried overwatching the Viper King last night and it didn't trigger either. I don't know if it's just a bug with that ruler OR you can't overwatch rulers after they use their portal ability. Very interesting.
@@JayFunninghamThat is interesting, although unfortunate. I love XCOM 2 but it would sure be nice if you didn't have to ask yourself whether anything out of the ordinary is caused by bugs because you're so used to them permeating the game.

Hopefully you found about the wheelbarrow early enough to help you make the plan before you got all stressed out. "The Dread Pirate Roberts takes no survivors."
Great mission. I have a hard time against the rulers and this was just amazing. Looking forward to seeing you or Syken's fight the archon. Also, you threw the lost hot potato to your pal, will it stay at his corner? 😅
Well done, as usual. I wonder if the game has any kind of mechanic to not force a mission on the player when there are not enough soldiers to fill squad. Seeing as how this is Xcom I'm guessing not. (If you listen closely you can probably here the dev's snickering in the background). All in all, though, a productive run in the face of adversity. Good vid
I have wondered that same thing. I'm not certain that I've ever had a roster that only had a couple of soldiers available in order to test it out, I obviously do my best to avoid putting myself in that situation. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a mechanism to at least try to avoid giving you a mission when no one is healthy, though.
Part of the way through the campaign, my recording software decided that it was no longer willing to capture XCOM 2 the same way. The footage was super dark in some places along with other strange glitches. I kept trying to fix it and finally had to switch to different software. In the meantime, there were a number of episodes where I had to edit the video as best I could to make it watchable. I wasn't a fan of the result either, but it was the best picture I was able to pull from the source material. Sorry for the weird visuals, but I can at least tell you that it won't last for the whole campaign.
I wasn't sure if this was real because there aren't any Lost. 🤣
I was also down to just a paper clip so I attached my repeater to it. Execution!
It does seem like something is missing without them, doesn't it?
Finally, you get to sic some Lost onto Syken! It was like he had lobbed an ultrasonic lure that he tossed on you at the start of the campaign
I believe that this will literally be his first time fighting them in the campaign, which is pretty crazy when I've fought them so many times that I've completely lost count!
Spoiler Alert: It is the only Advent facility that is guarded by the Lost.
Great work to both of you! The campaign continues to be fascinating 🎉
Glad you enjoy it!
Looking for tips against these specific bosses years ago was how i found your channel in the first place, still as masterful as ever
Very cool, hope the guides helped and thank you for the kind words!
Another great episode! Thanks TapCat!

Some people do find economical and winning game play much more entertaining than over the top, gungho! Banzai! charges
Thanks, I really do worry about attention spans when too much time is spent moving into position or waiting on overwatch.

30:00 That was a scary moment, could have gone worse after the cover was removed -.-

Using the team work would have given you the chance at an execution shot but aside from that the fight could not have gone better. Well played.

Ray definitely came through in the clutch on this one! Also, Foreigner references are highly underrated!
Well it wasn't a shoe string and a paper clip....
It was a wheelbarrow and a holocaust cloak ....

Lol, leave it to him to go do the black site or something to avoid breaking my streak. 😉

That Viper King was weak. Last week I took down the Viper King on the first action with only a hunkered down VIP and a panicked Rookie on Gatecrasher.
Great mission! I will be honest though... Not a big fan of the brightness/contrast filters at all.
