There are a heap of different kits on eBay at all different prices but this was the one I bought, but along as the kit is 410/T102 they should all wire up the same as shown in the video, but refer to your instructions just in case!

These types of videos are amazing that was something that I've been wondering if possible and no-one covers things like that
Thanks mate! Really appreciate it!
I installed one of these on an old 1960s Pontiac about 10 years ago. It still works. So simple. Keep up the good work 😊
Thanks Mick!
Confirming on an 80 series you need to combine the two yellow wires together from the unit and earth them. I used the earth bolt behind the drivers kick panel where I brought the control wires through the door grommets I joined into the connector at the drivers door control panel. The two green wires are either side of the lock tab on the connector. These connect to the two white wires on the unit as per the video. This saved me running another earth wire through the door grommets.
The power feed comes directly through from the accessory power box in engine bay following the bonnet release cable.
I mounted the unit to the inside of the drivers side kick panel there is plenty of room for all to fit and tuck wires neatly.
A neat solution in the end and works brilliantly.
Pro Tip - when wiring the indicator light feed I did not remove any of the dash. I prised hazard switch out with a hook tool. There was enough slack to access the back of the connector to join the wires. Using a coat hanger wire i taped my wires to I was able to feed the wires down behind the console below the steering wheel where I then routed them to the unit.
I installed one of these on my old Jeep when the factory system stopped working. 1 year later, it’s still working like a charm.
I’m about to do the same in my Ceed. Just by looking at the wires I feel dizzy but after watching your video i feel a lot more confident about installing it. Thanks a lot!
Bro. Ive watched your creativity for a while now o the Tube. The way your mind works is a true asset - regarding figuring out the hidden logic in stuff. That ability is appropriately demonstrated - in this particular vid.: the "key" to fixing any (well almost every...) thing! As always, great to watch your ingenuity in progressing YOUR Series 80 evolution. Rare natural Talent.
Thanks mate! That's really kind! Means alot 🙏
My clicky button thingy for my series 80 fell apart about 15 years ago and no one has been able to sort it out until you came along. Thanks so much for this.
nobody could fix it? you went to the wrong people.
@@DavidChambers-p8j I certainly did.
For future reference crimps are better for automotive purposes as they're more resilient to vibration (when installed correctly) i'd suggest using the resin heat shrink crimps too as they'll ensure a waterproof connection
Great video as usual mate keep it up!
Wiring tip***
For those who have purchased the unit linked in the description and wired up like Patty has, and can't get it to work... try wiring in the yellow AND yellow/black wires from the remote control module to the earth as well. Mine wouldn't work without wiring them in as well.
Legend mate! Solved my issue! 👌🍻
Yes that's exactly what I needed to do too.
Thanks mate saved me a lot of swearing
I think this is my problem do these give you an earth switch effect as I’m not getting anything using the white and white /black feed wires.
Do you swap to using the other sites not both?
9:15 I know that feeling. Good job.
Alternatively, for vehicles that don't have power locks, you can get kits to do that or take all the OEM switches, actuators, etc, off of the same model with power locks, including the door harnesses. I'm getting a 92 Chevy 2500hd with all manual locks and windows. So I'm buying the switch panels new and taking everything else off of a truck that did come with the power option to convert to power windows and locks.
You boys always impress me with your back to basics and have a go attitude,Christ it gives me abit of hope for younger generation . Nice work boys 👍 impressed
you could connect the boot release to a cheap turbo timer and connect the output of the turbo timer to some lights so as you approach the car in the dark you can light it up and the light stay on for whatever length of time the TT is set to.
What a great idea.
Good tut, cheers for the inspiration. For those planning to do this, don't forget the yellow wires! Wasted a good few hours scratching my head when I'd connected power, ground and signal with no joy. 🙄🤦♂️
Where does the yellow wires go?
The joy of old 4wd's, doing some basic wiring in my Gu today and found 3 earth leads going to nothing and some rubbed through wires to the uhf.
love how the power window control is the same in an 80 series as in my 2020 79 dual cab haha gotta love toyota
😂😂 if it ain't broke don't fix it
Fantastic DIY project. You make it look so simple. 👌👍
Awesome, put the same unit in my 1994 GXL about 2 years ago and it has to be the best $20 you can spend.
Genuinely the best forby channel around, love ya work mate keep it up!
Hey man just to let you know if you pull the steering wheel surround off and you can see the black plugs closer to the dash that go up to your highbeam switch and indicators as such those same colour wires can be picked up there to trigger the indicators also the kill switch stuff was probably an old immobiliser some had the ability to hook up to central locking in the car and it will just be a couple of cut wires on the back of the key barrel for starter motor and probably ignition that have been linked together to make the car run
Been in COVID isolation for the passed 6 days and gone through the whole channel again. Looked forward to this video more than getting out of isolation. Will be ordering my aussie arvos sticker very soon!!!!
Thanks Oliver!! 🤙
I would also suggest when purchasing these look for one that is an alarm also, only a couple more wires will get you a standard alarm for some peace of mind!
I have pretty much the same thing still works even after battery disconnect for a month then back on
"Dash yoga". Brilliant!
The best thing is if the $20 module should fail, the key still works, the door button still works! Best technology is redundant technology!
Interested in hearing your thoughts on soldering over crimps. I reckon solder for "floating wiring" where the joint is not going to be subject to flexing and crimping for wiring to a fixed point where it will be subject to flexing.
I would only use crimp connections for marine and automotive work. I guess different Technical Colleges teach different methods.
Yeah it's a huge debate hahah! Gotta find out what NASA used in the space shuttle 😂
@@ianwhitford3596 Yeah, I've heard the same, but I reckon AA has a point regarding soldering, just don't solder to a fixed point or you will get fatigue failures. The solder wicks up the multi-strand wire and makes it brittle, with time it will fail, but floating, no stress on the joint so will last a long, long time.
There are great advantages to crimping, it literally fuses the connector and the wire strands without causing a fatigue sight. Problem is as AA pointed out, inexperienced hands will deliver a great proportion of failed crimps - the yank test is not always enough to work out if a crimp is good or not (It probably is) but just one in a dozen or so that isn't up to scratch and god help you find it. It will look perfect even though it has failed... so hard to spot.
@@AussieArvos
Don't look to NASA go straight to motor sport wiring if you want to end the debate.
Open barrel crimps are the way to go. And butt splice crimps are my new favourite system for tapping into or butt joining small gauge wires.
They do take a fair bit of trial and error and at the end of the day a poor solder join is better than a poor crimp.
This couldnt come at a better time 😂 definitely a must do to the D22!
great mod to the best 4x4 ever, will do, and I have the old security system still installed that does not work.
Awesome video thankyou, very helpful. Bought the same thing for my 91 gxl 80 series.
Have installed this following your intructions and just wondering whether anyone has had an issue regarding the unit? It began working perfectly, then over time it used to work intermittently to now not working at all.
also since installing sometimes the cars battery needs to be turned on for the central locking to work also.
Just got this exact kit for my 80
Perfect video thanks 👌
$20 to get me going, forget the remote those instructions sounds mint
you could have easily found the left and right turn circuits in the drivers sill harness, rather than pulling the dash out and risk breaking something.
also, old nissans require you to install an aftermarket drive motor in the drivers door to get CDL working remotely.
I’ve installed central locking into my 89’ patrol, it’s definitely worth it
I absolutely love your videos. dreaming of the day when I get my first 4WD. Keep on filming your vids!!!
Awesome clip mate... I don’t even own an 80 series but this makes me want to buy one JUST so I can get this kit and do what you did 🤣 I love your enthusiasm dude, well done buddy. Electrics are easy once you understand it but can also be quite time consuming. Well done mate and thanks for sharing 😉👍🇦🇺
Thanks mate! really appreciate it!
I got an eBay kit too a while ago, 10/10 the best mod I’ve done. So cheap and easy yet ridiculously convenient!
Yeah it's a great mod!
Definitely do some more shirt drops . Great content looking forward to seeing your channel grow .
Thanks Brendan, really appreciate it man!
@@AussieArvos +1 on the merch!
Please make more shirts and jumpers loved the last drop!
great video! unrelated but i think you should clear coat the 80 and Liam should give the Patrol a white raptor coat or something. It would really make them look brand new. and you guys, if possible should def bring back the merch!
Watching this just after mud earring some Easter eggs. Happy easter boys
Thanks mate! Happy Easter to you too!
I just had a thought for $20 I wonder how many unique channels the remote/unit has, more mean to say imagine if all your mates got this mod and where at camp and somehow 1 remote unlocked multiple cars who run this mod hahah. Devils advocate thoughts here there would also be the question of security the creator of the unit probably could have a way to unlock all these cars who run this mod. Overall great mod and the fact you went the extra way to get hazard wires to make it more factory feeling is awesome.
great video - my 80 series back seat passenger door wont open with the central key and boot never had it ????
Ill save this and watch later. My 2010 nav original didnt come with wireless locking. But previous owner did. I want a wireless locking remove with a flip key inside plus the buttons are falling apart
I have a baby so this is a life saver thank you
The one thing I'd be very careful of is if those key modules all have a unique signal to their paired keys, or if someone else with one of those kits key would also unlock your car.
I'd buy a second one just to test it's keys on the one you installed in the 80 for peace of mind that only your key fob will work on your locks and no one else's.
Yeah deffo get it delivered to a mate or relatives house lol
Great little tricks for the average Joe, mate. Thoroughly enjoying the channel. Great work as always. Cheers till next week.
Can you do a video of you doing a interior and exterior clean of the 80 series ?
I have a 2009 76 series. Never heard of an 80 series but by the looks it came out after my car did.
Kind of, the 70 series in general started in 1986 but the 76 started in 2006. The 80 series came out in 1990.
The 70 series was released for Toyota to be able to still make the old reliable LC, while also being able to add more luxury features to their main series, (80,100,200,300,ect).
@@Matt-ik4tm yeh mate I’m just mucking around. He’s got more tech in the 80 than in my 2009😂
@@bingobango4892 had a feeling you were lol, still just wanted to help someone out.
I really like the 70 series although I'd probably go for the ute. For the money I'd rather have a decent semi-luxury city car and a full offroader, rather than a main series LC.
In my old 80 I crimp n solder
Corrugated roads
What perfect timing. My LC80 (also a GXL), has an aftermarket alarm (fitted to it some 26 years ago), and its remote receiver started playing up. It only works intermittently using the remote control fobs (x2) that came with it. I've replaced the batteries on both fobs, but I'm still getting the same issues. This narrows the issue to the receiver itself. So I haven't been using the remotes, and have been locking/unlocking my LC80 manually. This is perfect. But I wonder if wiring this eBay unit in my LC80 the same way as yours, will work as it has an alarm. Goodness only knows how the alarm's been wired etc. Another great DIY episode Pat. Great work. 👍
Yes.
If you have drivers door open all doors the alarm will lock unlock doors.
I replaced my receiver control unit yesterday in my gq.
I replaced two motors at the same time.
I paid $50 at jaycar instead as it was the same brand as the dead one.
@@brucebaxter6923 Thanks. Mine is definitely the receiver of the alarm, as the central locking still works when manually locking/unlocking the vehicle. The unit just won't respond (for most of the time) when using either one of the remote key fob.
I would pull the key fob apart and check the button on it they can get a dry solder joint and cause this type of issue
Patrick you are my go to guy
That extra hassle to add in the hazard lights is amazing though, I didn’t and I constantly wish I did
Thanks mate! Yeah it's a good addition!
Will definitely be doing this for my 100 series 👍🏾
Hey mate are you gona install any security system in your 4by a lot of 4wd being stolen lately especially the old 4wd
Such s great video for me to modified my toyota Hilux workmate auto. How to test the hazard light socket wiring to pick the correct R/L wire for the indicated light?
Dash Yoga !! hahaha
Great vid.
Did the same decades ago on my old honda city (had to add the door actuators as well), definitely a useful and rewarding mod! Well done sorting out the mess from the previous system, too. Curious if tying the hazard left/right lines together might have messed with your indicator function - do they all go at once now? Great stuff.
He taped into the left and right using 2 seperate wires, not left and right together.
@@DRIBBL3R Ahh cheers - missed where he said "two brown wires" from the controller.
Hey mate, I’m trying to find which wires are the lock and unlock wires on my Holden rodeo? Any tips on locating the right wires on the driver door control panel?
This is just what I am looking for mate. for my 95 80 Series. BIG Thumbs up! 👍
Thanks mate!! Its an awesome mod!!!
@@AussieArvos Mine Came with the remote locking But I lost the key pad so Ill have a ganda at the old module and just replace it I recon
The man for stating the wires on a 80
i love the video and some merch would be amazing
Awesome mod, love it. Great work. I need to do this to my GU Patrol. Pain in the arse using the key when you have heaps of stuff in your hands.
I just got one for my GU, can’t wait to put it in!!
@@DRIBBL3R hey mate I see you put this on your gu patrol. Did you end up getting it to work? I’m trying to do mine now but can’t get it to work. Witch wire did you tap into? Cheer
@@kymlawrence6077 I test fitted it last week. But I have an issue that when I use the key on the drivers door to open the car all locks open, but when I use the key on passenger side it won’t unlock driver door. Not sure if that normal, or an issue with my car. Anyway I did test fit the keyless remote and it worked for all door, except the DRIVERS DOOR!! I taped into the black with red strip, and black with yellow strip. I also had to earth the yellow wires to get it to work. Let me know how you go mate.
@@DRIBBL3R awesome thanks for that man. I gave up and packed up now lol was on it for nilly 4 hrs getting all the wire run and trying to find the unlock and lock wire. Did you use the white and white with black strip to tap into the black with red stripe and black with green stripe? Sorry for the questions but what wire when were if you remember? I just couldn’t get mine to work at all
@@DRIBBL3R also mine only opens the passenger door when I open it with the key as well. I also worked out the central locking button on my door panel where the window buttons are won’t lock or unlock when using the button. Have to use the key for drivers door to lock and unlock.
Did You have to do anything with the orange or yellow wires. I can’t seem to get mine to work.
Hey mate with some research the orange wires aren't used. And the yellow and yellow black stripe wire goes to earth.
@@tren1hdt408earth of vehicle or black wire in the door lock harness?
be handy if he showed what wire harness on the pannel with the specific wires he used i tapped into multiple of the coloured wires blue/yellow blue/black and don’t work but switch is clicking
I tapped into the harness wires near the drivers door switch panel 😮in the 3 and 4 wire position either side of the lock on the connector.
I’ve got it all wired up with the white and white/black to these 3/4 wires. Power feed connected (obviously has to be always hot) and indicators are working but no unlocking. It’s all clicking.
What have I done wrong as the 3/4 wires appear correct.
How do you deal with negative switching?
More than worth it just for the fobs, paid 25 for one, looks exactly the same.
A bought a kit with trim removal tools and heaps of clips, very handy for 12 bucks.
I wonder how power efficient that locking module is considering it’s wired into constant power? Would be interesting to know if being a cheap unit whether it’s still designed well on that front, and whether it would be good/bad on battery drain if you don’t use your car for awhile.
I got a cheap one for my old car, it didn't use much power at all.
Love your videos mate always great to watch!
Quick question, I’ve got central locking in my 80 but the boot doesn’t seem to work with it, any idea what it could be? Cheers!
That's mate!
The boot should work, check the wiring to the rear boot lock motor, and make sure the motor isn't getting stuck or anything!
Mine locks and unlocks via central locking so you should be able to get it too work , cheers :)
I’d be keen on some merch. Good video as always.
Connect the wire for the horn then you can hear when it locks and unlocks.
Yes merch!!!!!!!
Too advance for my truck! But good simple project! Ebay item rocks!
Yeah Please doo hoodies with ZIPPA!?
Hi buddy, I have tapped trigger wires to a hazard switch they are working perfectly but the problem is that when I use hazards the harzard lights become very weak and blink unusually is there any way I can seperate the current to àvoid this?
Are the wires that came with the module long enough to get up to the hazard light switch? Or did you just trace them back to where you could connect them up?
some merch boys, wouldn't mind a XL hoodie 😃
I want to buy a 4 lock setup and do my canopy locks and my space cab ranger all on button.
Have Merchandise all time on the website 👌
Awesome work as always.
Cheers Bruce!
Good stuff mate love to get some merch over to Nz!
Hi mate it would be mint to see the merch back again
Hey mate where did the yellow and yellow and black wire go to?
A hoodie run would be grouse as it’s coming into winter
The "boot" button could be wired up so the windows go up and down? That would be fancy
Yeah definitely! Sky's the limit!
Hey thanks for the $20 bucks keyless entry video it looks so easy to wire up .. Hey would like to get couple more Aussie Arvos T shirts if doing another run ..guys ..cheers Nev..

My 91 Gq has central locking from factory
Fk yeah I'm going to wack one in the nissan, get one 4 the misso too, how easy! Did you's continue this? Doing the alarm side
please more merch, i really want a hoodie i missed out last time \
How can I do this without power to the door cards, have central locking but believe it’s mechanical
Do these units work as a negative trigger? Pajeros use negative trigger couldn't tell if its positive or negative in ya 80
Can other people with fobs unlock your car now? Just curious cos cheap system
Solid upgrade nevertheless
It's meant to be coded to that unit, so no, in theory
How's the security here? if a simple hack in a remote could unlock any car? Any encryption or other handshaking method in the communication channel?
@@KeoghDanielAU May be they have a different code to identify different modules. But a thief could still brute-force and unlock. Unless the communication channel is encrypted, someone can still record a previous unlock signal pattern and replay...
Nearly all of the are 433MHz and very few of them have any sort of security.
Some support rolling code, others say they support it but dont...
I mean, even the unsecure ones are probably more secure than your manual locks anyway... i'm assuming half the people watching have locks that can be opened with a butterknife in about 10 seconds. (My cruiser can be, for sure.)
Its meant to be coded to the unit but I mean , its eBay, but I figure if someone really wants to steal the car, they would probably just bust a window or pick the lock quite easily
Just an FYI not all systems are the same for example most gu gq patrols that have central locking off the key dont have a motor to actuate the drivers door so you will need a motor in the drivers side door
Witch one was lock the black an white?
Hey! I tried installing this same product to my ford ranger and I got confused with the “common wire” I connected it to positive and it burns the fuse but the locks make a weird sound, if I put it on ground nothing really happens
Does anyone know what I can do with this?
happy for you..great work
Hey Patrick, are you meant to position the antenna in a spot where it’s ‘accessible’ as such. Or does it still pick up the remote even when it’s tucked away behind the panel. Great vid as always mate
Hi jack! Remote picks up to about 100m 👌
@@AussieArvos Thanks mate, was just wondering if that little antenna needed to be visible as suchto allow for a better range.
FYI those w/out central locking. There are different strengths for the actuators, don’t just buy the cheapest kit like I did 🤦🏻
Should do a vid install on dans gq
You have that many accessories in that car now soon you will have to update to a 4wd truck !
I've got it but its been on the car about a year or so and does play up every now and then
how did you sync up the remotes? i cant get it to sync
