You all know me by now I try to stay positive on this channel but I had so many things to say after watching this movie that a review had to be made. I also think making this has driven me insane because of how challenging it was but that’s ok we ball
I'm pretty open minded artistically when it comes to adaptations of fictional comic characters. As a comic fan we get new adaptations all the time in the comics and new versions of the established characters I get it that each director wants to put there style into these characters. I also liked Jared Letos Joker who was a new take as a modern crime boss something we had not seen before with Joker I also liked the first Joker movie didn't love it but found it a good movie that yes was a rip off of Martin Scorsese King of Comedy but it was a good movie effort for a grounded take on the Joker as if he was a real mentally ill guy. However this version of the Joker is not a super villian he's not a comic book character he isn't deep or interesting enough for multiple flicks so he didn't need a sequel. With that said I actually do appreciate that they wanted to artistically do something totally different from the 2019 film and make it a musical im open minded artistically to adaptations and I could have went with a good Joker Harley musical. All this flick needed to be was a story about how being a celebrity now as Joker effects Arthur and have Harley represent the women who idolize serial killers let her be a metaphor for that. Then end the film with Joker and Harley both dying together being killed and shot down together make the flick about there shared insanity. But if you went this direction it would be another grounded Joker movie just like the first and Todd Phillips simply did not want to make a Joker movie he wanted to make a film about a random mentally ill guy with some aspects of the comic Joker character. I get it I understand what he wanted to do but if you remove something to far it becomes something else to the point of just go make a different movie then about a random guy and not call it Joker. I also get the implications and idea of the ending that Arthur embraced his dark side and inspired angry mentally unstable people and him being killed at the end of the film by one of his own followers is the result of that it's meant to be ironic I get it. At the same time if your movies called Joker and you make 2 movies about a random guy who isn't Joker but just happens to inspire the real Joker it's like OK why am I watching 2 flicks called Joker that aren't even about the actual Joker. I suppose Phillips intention was to make the movies about the Joker persona and not the Joker himself I also get that but you risk becoming to pretentious with that direction. I'm fine with Todd Phillips wanting to do his own else world take on the character and even fine with him doing a grounded take on the character that is a metaphor for mental illness but at the same time you have to keep it somewhat in the spirit of the comics. What Todd Phillips has essentially made with Joker 2 now is two films about a mentally unstable depressed dude who goes crazy kills some people then gets killed lol. His lack of a set past and the inexistence of any logical reason to what he does *is* the basis of the character. If this had been 1. one movie and 2. an original story, it would have been great. The thing i cant quite get my head around is the budget for this film, the first film cost a quarter of what this film cost, the sequel cost $190 million dollars ! With only TWO locations, the courtroom and Arkham Asylum !...This is the craziest thing of all. Just imagine the film they could have made for that (or even two films) : Joker escapes from Arkham asylum and unleashes hell on the establishment becoming leader of the civil unrest group/rioters from the end of the first film and attacks those who have spawned/humiliated him while delving even deeper into his dark and twisted psychology and the meaning of his place in society. The social divide between those who follow and those who lead ; with Joker becoming a terrorist/freedom fighter paradox and cultural icon in the process. *What do we get* ? A monstrous F**K U to the fanbase of the original, an insult to audiences worldwide, a terrible script and film nobody wanted, lady ga ga, a pointless and needless musical, the Joker character raped and humiliated and he's NOT even the Joker anyway (possibly a symbol of what the film maker wanted to do to the audience). Its one of the worst sequels of all time from a film-maker who has committed commercial and career suicide. So " well done " Todd, I hope this crash and burn piss-weak excuse for a film was worth it.
I don't understand how the first movie represented "incels"? Then again I really don't think incels are a thing. It's just a newer cheap insult for a male's lack of masculinity like "virgin" once was. It's an updated version of virgin, that's it lol the first joker seemed more about mental illness and being abandoned by general society but what does any of that have to do with sex?
am i the only one feeling like there is some kind of a tinge of "corrective rape" or something, like all Joker needed was to really get it handed to him and finally he'd know true pain... that's not how criminal minds work. if anything it makes them more steadfast in their rage and hatred of the world. i feel Joker would have doubled down, not renounced himself after such a thing. i really didn't like that element of the film
Yeah I had a section on that I cut out because I didn’t think I was doing it justice and it’s a serious subject, but they straight up have that in there. That whole segment at the end really cemented this movie as a disaster for me bc it comes out of nowhere and feels so weird for what it implies

At least the film was more narratively fulfilling than Deadpool and Wolverine, a film that was all over the place and felt like a parody of their own franchise, Joker 2 might be bad but it had something
What's bad about not embracing the fantastical nature of the world of DC? That was the point of the movie, to see how someone in a real grounded world would end up being that kind of figure like Joker, mentally. Not everything has to be a theme park for people who can only watch action movies. First one was great, it it wouldn't be it wouldn't have gotten so much love. Second one is bad, yes, but one can't truly rate or understand the second one without liking the first one
You can absolutely rate a sequel even if you didn’t like the first, that should never invalidate someone’s opinion. Understanding is another thing, but honestly he makes a pretty good assessment aside from that one comment, and that’s not even what this whole review is hanging on (there is the whole tanget about Gotham not looking like Gotham, not respecting it, but honestly that isn’t “fantastical nature” just, the basic setting)

Yeah, sadly...
You know that saying "Who was this made for?"...well we all know who this movie was made for WB ! $$$

I've practically blocked that scene out of my mind, that was actually nuts, I have no idea what the purpose of it was
People keep saying there's rape, that's not what I saw at all
It just didn't happen wtf
@@mysryuza im pretty sure his pants were at his ankles too when they dragged him back to his cell
@@ammomusic5319mb I made a reply and realized I replied to the wrong person I’m so sorry. I made my original comment in response to someone saying that the rape didn’t happen.
So you hated the first one…. And you hate this one. Doesn’t this prove that this movie is for no one to enjoy
Also if you want to see the “ Harley in power over joker” thing , play the telltale Batman games . They do it way better
The 20 second teaser we saw where Arthur's laughing in the rain is that in the film? This part.. i doubt Todd and Joaquin care if this failed, they received millions and it's out of their hands after filming wrapped..smh.. Gaga wanted yo be called Lee,i don't think it was Todd. I don't know. I haven't seen it. Good, video cheers mate 👍🏻

Thank you! Also that scene is in the movie for MUCH shorter, it's basically used as a transition for like 4 seconds
I would like to be a little bit constructive and recommend Healthy alternative to this awful movie you could be watching inside transformers one is a really good jumping on point for new transformers fans can details the originals of Megatron and Optimus as well as the downfall of there friendship and the wild robot a movie i haven't seen yet but have heard nothing but good things about by DreamWorks please go watch these movies they could definitely use the support
Its a great movie may I forgive your sins for being braindead.
Wahhh
At least the film was more narratively fulfilling than Deadpool and Wolverine, a film that was all over the place and felt like a parody of their own franchise, Joker 2 might be bad but it had something
Unsubbed
Was this your Joker moment

@@westerling8436 If you think his "content is just not good" then why were you subbed to him in the first place lol?

What's bad about not embracing the fantastical nature of the world of DC? That was the point of the movie, to see how someone in a real grounded world would end up being that kind of figure like Joker, mentally. Not everything has to be a theme park for people who can only watch action movies. First one was great, it it wouldn't be it wouldn't have gotten so much love. Second one is bad, yes, but one can't truly rate or understand the second one without liking the first one
sure hun
You can absolutely rate a sequel even if you didn’t like the first, that should never invalidate someone’s opinion. Understanding is another thing, but honestly he makes a pretty good assessment aside from that one comment, and that’s not even what this whole review is hanging on (there is the whole tanget about Gotham not looking like Gotham, not respecting it, but honestly that isn’t “fantastical nature” just, the basic setting)
YOU Need to keep your opinions to yourself.i stop tell very body.let them find out for them selfs.daaaa.🥱🥱
