After reading about kyoshi's backstory you can see why she became ruthless. She was an innocent servant girl who did not fight back when bullied. She did not want to be the avatar and was afraid to lose the little she had her job as a servant her few friends and she was unsure of herself. As a result she lost her friend and adopted father. When she showed mercy to a 15 year old boy he spat on her mercy and that got her adoptive brother killed as a result. During her travels through the chaotic earth kingdom she lived as a daofei for almost a year and she realised the world isn't black and white. That even bandits could be more honorable than honest people. By the end of her novel she adopted the daofei code as her values and became the confident avatar we saw in atla.
Kyoshi was so old she outlived everyone alive when she was first born, and their kids, and maybe even their kids too. She probably outlived 3 generations.
No kidding. I thought Aang and Korra had it tough, but after reading what is now just half of Kyoshi’s story, and seeing all the insane trials and tribulations that she had to go through, I realize just how lucky Aang and Korra were to have the support that they did. I now chuckle a bit every time I watch the scene where Aang contacts Kyoshi on the Lion Turtle. ENeRGY WiZARD Everything fit in perfectly. She had abandonment issues. Which made her timid. Kids often pick on others who look different. Her adopted father was an air nomad. So her being soft wasn’t out of left field. And her boyfriend and dad got murdered in front of her. Which, I don’t know about you, but it would definitely change someone into a savage.

A great role model of equality. Kyoshi created warriors from both sexes: Dai Li (men) & Kyoshi (women) and she was iconic for her ruthlessness and advocacy for justice and equality.
Fun Fact: The reason that Kyoshi lived until 230 is because of an error in the timetables They said once that Kyoshi was born over 400 years ago and making it almost impossible since Aang wad born 112 years ago and Kyoshi is just 2 Avatars behind him. So instead of retcon what they had already established they rolled with that. That somehow Kyoshi lived for 230 years.
No Name she didn’t absorb his life. The avatar always inherits the flaw from their prior avatar and they have to make up for it. In this case Kuruks flaw was dying young so Kyoshi lived super long. In Aangs case he had to make up Rokus flaw of not being able to avoid/stop the war with the fire nation
I love how the creators for Avatar: The Last Airbender create such dynamic female characters. I feel like any lady could relate to at least one character in the series. @@thinktempest7457 It's always annoying how you people find any reason to bring Rey and Captain Marvel into any discussion for no reason. Most of the MCU superheroes are "one dimensional" and "unquestionably pure-hearted and ridiculously powerful." These traits aren't specific to Captain Marvel or Rey. Superman is the archetype for ridiculously powerful, unquestionably pure-hearted characters. Yet, y'all rarely if ever complain about him or any of the other several hundred comic book, video game and movie characters that fit that description and happen to be male. Rey isn't even that pure-hearted, especially in The Last Jedi. Hell, even in Force Awakens nothing about her screamed pure-hearted like, say, Obi Wan in the prequel series or Yoda for that matter. She's not any more or less pure-hearted than other Jedi. There are hundreds of shitty male characters, y'all can live with Rey and Captain Marvel being shitty too. Part of "equality" is allowing female characters to express all the pitfalls male characters do as well. So, stop finding a reason to shoehorn Captain Marvel and Rey into every conversation because you have *other reasons* to dislike their characters than what you purport the reasons to be.
Corrin perfect book 1 tho, because he’s how everyone would interpret the avatar. All bending powerful person, with extreme charisma and always won fights. Then of course end it with his failures due to his ways. Perfect life going to shit, good intro the kyoshi as well. As Kuruk’s death did cause a lot of problems.
The only avatars that are known to kill or are willing to kill is Kyoshi and Korra. Aang was pacifist Roku didnt want to kill his friend Sozin. Kuruk died at a young age. Yang Chen, we don't know much about her.
From what I remember, is that Avatar Yang Chen created the era of peace Avatar Kuruk lived through because she wasn't like other Airbenders and didn't exactly follow their ways of life. As it turned out, she was one of the feared Avatars because she believed her sole duty in life was 'to the world' as she herself put it.

HOLY Cow, Kyoshi's story is crazy. Considering all that she's been through, I have little doubt she probably "put down" way more people than Nick would care to admit.
Kyoshi is definitely one of my favourite avatars for how unique and badass she is. She’s huge, grew up on the streets, and can only move gigantic rocks lmao she would be so fun to watch. Her absolute idgaf energy combined with her fighting for women’s and gay rights makes her so iconic to me. I’m always glad to see the avatar series tackle moral issues so civil rights and social justice seems like a natural topic for the series to talk about to me. I’m glad we live in a time where bi women like me and my sisters can be represented, even though it’s still far below our proportion in the population it makes me happy to see people like us become more accepted. She’s just a badass. She don’t care about your crappy beliefs she’ll love who she loves and she’ll empower women to protect themselves. She towers menacingly over everyone, who would want to mess with her?
Fr I ship her and Rangi more than I do Korrasami. Like, I wouldn't mind Korrasami, but there literally wasn't any build-up. Which is understandable, bc eh "kids show" I guess and Nick doesn't allow it. Plus ngl, none of them two are my type, esp Asami bc I just really don't like them "pretty girls" if you know what I mean 🤐 But thankfully that Book about Kyoshi isn't meant to be read by kids so I'm guessing there's more love dynamic.
I agree with your views but it will ruin a perfectly good movie if it gets entangled in present day moral issues. Let's leave that role to other popular moves. Let's enjoy this to the fullest without interruptions. Not everyone agrees with one another on moral issues. It will ruin the movie
Adeoti Ayodeji I don’t think this is being entangled with current moral issues personally, fighting for civil rights is integral for our history and I think it’s an interesting factor to consider in a fictional history too. I’ve always thought Avatar did this really well. The original series had a lot to say about gender roles but it felt very grounded in the cultures and it made sense as to why this was part of the conflict. The fire nation didn’t have significant gender roles because fire bending was the ultimate measure of power and respect in their society and gender played no role in that. The water tribe however was far more traditional and the separation of water bending into combat and healing divisions provided a basis for gender roles to be formed in that culture, which naturally leads to it being a central conflict for Katara and Sokka. The earth kingdom being a nation with such massive wealth inequality and rigid social structures makes it a great setting for stories about the Avatar fighting for civil rights. I think it’d be a wasted opportunity to pass up on that because it’s too controversial or it’s a hot topic especially for such a mature show like Avatar which tackles serious topics like war and genocide. Idk it just works for me.
@@lordsarcastic TLA was literally tackled war, propaganda, police states, sexism, racism, colonialism, and child abuse all in 2004 let's stop pretending getting political is a new idea that ruins everything when it was always there.

ChefPeanut Just because heterosexuals call it one thing doesn’t make it right. Receiving and giving pleasure during same-sex intimacy is not the same as a dominance and submission fetish. Signed, an actual lesbian.
Earth king: arrest her!
Kyoshi: lmao nah
276 LIKES BUT NO FUCKING COMMENTXSS
😂🤣😁😄
i love the kyoshi books and im so excited for the new yangchen book. the second book dives deeper on yun and what happened to him. i love how much just throughout the books she matures and tries to find more about what is right and also about her past lives.
Kyoshi's story brings a darker meaning to "friendships can last a lifetime". Kuruks friends became her allies and enemies.
Is it just me or did Kiyoshi sound like a better version of Korra?
Yea
How? their stories are nothing alike aside from both being the Avatar and their sexuality.
ocean eyes you mad? 😂😂😂😂
No
ocean eyes write your own tv series with characters that will do and say what you want.
Aang: How do I stop the Fire Lord-
Kyoshi: Just f~cking kill him!
Aang: Ok, but I was hoping to-
Kyoshi: LYFE HAX, OH YEAH!
Frank Castle:...hmm....nice
shes right, you know. Ozai is literally avatar hitler, i dont see any problem with him dying
ah yes my favorite avatar, Avatar Francis
Aang: *enters the avatar state against Ozai*
Kyoshi: OH YEAH, GIVE ME THE GOD DAMN WHEEL
Aang: *exits the avatar state refusing to kill Ozai*
Kyoshi: ok buddy now you’ve officially taken it too far
@Othello Barker yes, im saying it would've been more ethical to kill him
HOLY Cow, Kyoshi's story is crazy. Considering all that she's been through, I have little doubt she probably "put down" way more people than Nick would care to admit.
No one:
No one at all:
Korra: Ctrl + Alt + Del
Ye
Kyle Nicely this is a nice one
Lmfao
Stupid Korra
Ctrl + A + Del
“ i knew i shouldn’t have asked Kyoshi “

This sentence was when Aang is asking for advice to kyoshi.

Yours Truly, Avatar Kyoshi 🔥💧💨🌿
Would u kill ozai kyoshi?
@@johnmako3659 without hesitation
The most badass Avatar of them all
But he doesn't go over your battle of Yun.
K1ll me
Kyoshi is definitely one of my favourite avatars for how unique and badass she is.
Boopy Schmoops wow she’s Bi TOTALLY didn’t see that coming
@@lordsarcastic TLA was literally tackled war, propaganda, police states, sexism, racism, colonialism, and child abuse all in 2004 let's stop pretending getting political is a new idea that ruins everything when it was always there.
I love how her birth circumstances are another example of the show's theme of balance - she was born poor to a crime family and abandoned at a young age, while Roku was born into a wealthy family
the avatar before kyoshi actually died at a very young age which is in contrast of kyoshi living a very long age
@@carlosm4941 yeah Kuruk was the youngest Avatar to die
@@carlosm4941 So by that idea we can estimate how much will Korra live. Yangchen 155 kuruk 33 Kyoshi 230 Roku 70 Aang 66 (166) Korra would be :
Average avatar age is 110
Yangchen (long living,155,Slim,woman), Kuruk(shortlived, 33,male,stocky),Kyoshi(long living,230,stocky, woman),Roku(normal life,70,Slim,man),Aang(normal life,66,Slim,man)
