I feel like most people forget that aang had a great grasp on all four types of bending at 12 YEARS OLD!! As well as becoming the youngest airbending master ever (up until Jinora)! And if I remember correctly he mastered the avatar state then too!! And defeated a comet enhanced fire lord! And learnt energy bending! Adult aang would undoubtedly be able to beat almost anyone without breaking a sweat.

I too agree Aang is the strongest overall. Kid was only 12 years old and dealt with the trauma of genocide of his people by the fire nation. Boy was the only avatar who slept the longest in history, he even beat captain America in sleeping. Also just like captain America Aang woke up and realised that everything he knew had changed so much. Had a lit fuse the moment he came out of that ice block.

Kyoshi surviving the lightning is impressive, but it's also specifically said that while the first attack hit her more directly (and scarred her hands for life,) her chainmail armor significantly protected her from the other hits. (Also, shout-out to Kyoshi grabbing the bender's ankle, so he just shocked himself for a sec.)
Just a reminder that Aang willingly entered avatar state two times when he was shot by Azula and when he removed Ozai's bending. Except these two every time he entered it was triggered

Before they became adults they displayed remarkable strength. Korra at 4yrs was already a force to reckon with. Now, I'm not implying that Aang is weak. But compared to these ladies I doubt that. Prime Aang needed to enter the avatar state to get free from Yakone's bloodbending in a 1v1. Makes me wonder how he would've fared against Zaheer (evade and weave tactics or face him head on) I personally believe Aang had the potential to become the strongest Avatar but his evasive and restrained character kind of affected and subdued his brute strength.

Maybe Kyoshi is the strongest phisicaly. But I believe Aang is or could be the strongest or most powerful followed by Korra. in the Legend of Korra the advanced techniques seem to be a lot less powerful so I think they traded so I think they refine them into easier to use but ended up reducing it's power greatly
I’ve said this before but korra losing her past lives did not make her avatar state weaker and I’ll die by that statement lmao, they obviously changed the lore from the original to korra so that the past lives weren’t the main source for the avatar states strength but instead Raava is. When korra got Raava back Raava got much bigger and much stronger after defeating Vaatu so why would her avatar state be weaker. The only thing she lost is the knowledge from past lives but power wise she has not gotten weaker.

Since we're judging the "strongest" by putting the most powerful avatars in a room and having them fight it out, I think this outcome works. That said, I still believe that Korra is the strongest, all things considered. The shear number of high level feats and abilities attributed to Korra is insane. Just her spiritual powers alone are next level; she can enter the spirit world easily anywhere there's spirit energy, she can use the avatar state while in the spirit world in spirit form - bending the pure spiritual energy, she can connect with Raava and fast travel across the spirit world, she can pacify dark spirits, and she can track peoples spiritual energy by simply touching the ground. When you add in her energy bending talent and her advanced bending abilities, I would still say Korra's the strongest. The crazy things is that Korra's story ends (so far) just shy of her entering her prime. Imagine Korra at like 30 or 40. She's gonna be a problem.
Without the Avatar State, it's a war of attrition between Korra and Kyoshi. One Korra can hold her own in but will ultimately come up short. With the Avatar State, Aang cleans house.
If it’s prime versions of all I think it’s hard to argue against Kyoshi simply because of how long she lived. She lived for over 200 years, meaning she lived literally over two avatar life cycles in terms of time, and she did not age. That level of experience should let her smoke the others Think about it. For someone like Aang, his prime is probably his 40’s to 50’s, where has that many years of experience. Kyoshi’s prime is when she’s over 200 years old, so she has all that time to accumulate experience
I think the combat seeming so much more sophisticated and action packed in korra is mostly just because of the advancements in animation not to say combat wasnt definitely further advanced in korras time but i believe the show jus had more freedom in fight scenes
Apparently there are rumors for the new series taking place after LOK where Korra is forced to reshape the 4 nations to 7 by shifting & separating all the continents with her bending. If this is true then this would make her the strongest Avatar of all time
Korra’s avatar state didn’t weaken after losing her past lives. Her power grew due to having prime Raava. The only reason Korra lost to kuvira is because she was weakened and still recovering from metal poisoning. She was also suffering from ptsd. Korra is the most powerful avatar by far. Her spirit, without any past lives or Raava, was able to match the dark avatar unavaatu, the strongest villain in the verse. She would then fuse with Raava in her full prime state, so her avatar state is stronger. Blocking that spirit beam nuke was the best feat in the verse. Her villains were also the strongest in the verse as well. Aang froze a single wave of lava, he didn’t stop the volcano like Roku did. Yang Chen did the element ball before Aang did, and wan before her. He only created a chasm around the city and yakone wasn’t the strongest blood bender, his son Amon was.
The avatar state should not be discussed because every next avatar is stronger than the previous because he gains all the knowledge and powers from his predecessors. So Aang for example is by default stronger than Kioshi in the avatar state because he literally has all her powers inside him + Roku's + his own. That works for every avatar except for Korra obviously

The magic in the world of Avatar is what I would call as realistic magic you can get. Air bending and Water bending and fire bending are less heavier coz they are light and doesnt weight much. For Earth bending you living heavy rocks while it seem simple its actually tough (no pun intended) you can see for King Bumi who claim to be the strongest earth bender you ever seen, but even he struggle lifting that big boulder he was about to throw against Aang, it was that heavy, even when he bending Ozai statue it was heavy for him so I love that when you bending earth you actually lifting heavy weights just like real life. Now imagine yourself as Avatar Kyoshi, moving an entire continent so far into the ocean creating her own island? How heavy do you think that is? That extremely heavy and she did that in her avatar state which means every earthbender and every avatar that can earth bend is all together moving this island. Kyoshi is strong but I dont think she could move the continent without the avatar state it would be unimaginably heavy.

I think it always comes down to why they are fighting and the circumstances but generally I'm always going to pick aang because he has too many defensive resources like seismic sense and his quickness. His airbending alone is far too overwhelming for most avatars as well. i'd imagine that in a fight with korra per say, aang would just evade every attack until he's ready to one shot her because korra's fighting style has little to no defence. Same thing with kyoshi. she has all the bending power but she won't be able to land a quarter of her attacks against aang. Not to say that it will be easy for him. but i think he wins even at 13

Avatars like aang, Roku, kyoshi, yenchen, kuruk, zeto and other previous avatars has been stated to be at those multi continental to moon to even planetary lvl ranges of power in the novels, data books and avatarwiki and they only have small rava, just imagine powerful Korra is with big rava, she should be at those large planetary ranges using the novels and data books, and you guys also forgot the fact that Korra broke the rift between two universes which could be a universal lvl feat if you want to wank it, and yet ignorant people would still say theyer city lvl which is a super low-ball. Look, we all know that the newest avatar is the strongest, only due to the AS, but, the previous avatars show better feats (Korra’s laser feat is calced to small city, which is above Aang’s feat, but Aang is shown to be faster, and Korra’s laser feat is far below Kyoshi’s feat, hope this helps, so Korra has a superior avatar state, but Aang is faster, and Kyoshi has better showings)

Without Avatar State, Korra is the strongest, because: 1) She learned 3 bendings far earlier than Aang 2) She is able to defeat Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira without her past lives 3) She is supposed to be the strongest overall, but losing her past lives costs her to lose her strength and knowledge of the past avatars 4) Since she lost her past lives, even in the Avatar State, she cannot Energybend, and cannot do what her past lives did With Avatar State, Aang is the strongest, because: 1) It is stated in ATLA that Avatar State will imbue the avatar with the strength and knowledge of all the past Avatars 2) Aang can Energybend, which can both take and give bending, and Aang did it after he died 3) He inherited his Energybend to Korra through Avatar State 4) Since Avatar State inherited the strength and knowledge, Aang could do what his past lives did Overall, the latest Avatar will always be the strongest unless have the situation like Korra... I think Aang would have been the strongest Avatar. Outside of the Mastering of elements, I think maturity would have played a huge role as he got older. Also he was able to tap into different past Avatars for guidance but also figures out ways to be balanced and fair in the most difficulty of circumstances, in comparison to a lot of other past Avatars.
Unrelated, but I'd enjoy an Avatar that only fought defensively rather than trying to fight their opponent--maybe they have acrobatic skills like Ty Lee, along with chi blocking. Aang's largely a pacifist, but that was moreso with killing. He wasn't really afraid to use his powers to fight if he felt like he had to.
Its Aang or Korra until the cycle was broken and restarted. They literally state in the series the Avatar state is the current Avatar channeling the abilities of ALL previous Avatar's through them so basically each new Avatar ultimately becomes more powerful then the previous one once they master the Avatar state.
I think that not allowing the Avatars in this fight to access the Avatar State would make it more fair, considering how the Avatar State gives its user the power of every previous (available) Avatar, which would just mean that every Avatar is more powerful than the last.

I don't think the void technique would work on Aang. His air bending is OP, so he would counter the attack - similar to how Katara overcame blood bending.

Kyoshi was written with the highest level feats she is meant to represent the utmost limits of what it means to be an avatar. She is like superman in a narrative sense she was something for other avatars can look up to(literally and figuratively). Aang was written to be the last avatar the one to surpass al others like goku. Korra feels out of place like an afterthought. So from a story point of veiw it should be Aang then kyoshi then korra then the rest because each bender represents an element with ideals to match

Maybe after Korra future Avatars works the same on access to thier past lifes starting at her to gain wisdom form. I feel like Aang and Korra have a severe disadvantage towards Kyoshi and Yangchen. Writers can get a lot more creative with the power levels in comics than in series, after all it wouldve made for a boring series if Aang and Korra could just curbstomp their respective enemies with raw power. Its like the Sith in Star Wars; you can have Sith eating up whole planets in distant games or comics or books, but it would break the story if you did it in movies.

It's Aang. Aang has mastered all the elements the fastest and at the youngest age. Furthermore, he has shown the best feats in the show and comics in tearm of raw power / strength . It's Aang .
After reading Kyoshi's books, her power, raw strength, and adaptability are far beyond what Aang has done in the comics. But Aang's accomplishments and feats should not be undervalued either.

I’ve said this before but korra losing her past lives did not make her avatar state weaker and I’ll die by that statement lmao, they obviously changed the lore from the original to korra so that the past lives weren’t the main source for the avatar states strength but instead Raava is. When korra got Raava back Raava got much bigger and much stronger after defeating Vaatu so why would her avatar state be weaker. The only thing she lost is the knowledge from past lives but power wise she has not gotten weaker.

Since we're judging the "strongest" by putting the most powerful avatars in a room and having them fight it out, I think this outcome works. That said, I still believe that Korra is the strongest, all things considered.
The shear number of high level feats and abilities attributed to Korra is insane.
Just her spiritual powers alone are next level; she can enter the spirit world easily anywhere there's spirit energy, she can use the avatar state while in the spirit world in spirit form - bending the pure spiritual energy, she can connect with Raava and fast travel across the spirit world, she can pacify dark spirits, and she can track peoples spiritual energy by simply touching the ground.
When you add in her energy bending talent and her advanced bending abilities, I would still say Korra's the strongest.
The crazy things is that Korra's story ends (so far) just shy of her entering her prime. Imagine Korra at like 30 or 40. She's gonna be a problem.
Without the Avatar State, it's a war of attrition between Korra and Kyoshi. One Korra can hold her own in but will ultimately come up short. With the Avatar State, Aang cleans house.

If it’s prime versions of all I think it’s hard to argue against Kyoshi simply because of how long she lived. She lived for over 200 years, meaning she lived literally over two avatar life cycles in terms of time, and she did not age. That level of experience should let her smoke the others

Korra’s avatar state didn’t weaken after losing her past lives. Her power grew due to having prime Raava. The only reason Korra lost to kuvira is because she was weakened and still recovering from metal poisoning. She was also suffering from ptsd. Korra is the most powerful avatar by far. Her spirit, without any past lives or Raava, was able to match the dark avatar unavaatu, the strongest villain in the verse. She would then fuse with Raava in her full prime state, so her avatar state is stronger. Blocking that spirit beam nuke was the best feat in the verse. Her villains were also the strongest in the verse as well. Aang froze a single wave of lava, he didn’t stop the volcano like Roku did. Yang Chen did the element ball before Aang did, and wan before her. He only created a chasm around the city and yakone wasn’t the strongest blood bender, his son Amon was.

The magic in the world of Avatar is what I would call as realistic magic you can get. Air bending and Water bending and fire bending are less heavier coz they are light and doesnt weight much. For Earth bending you living heavy rocks while it seem simple its actually tough (no pun intended) you can see for King Bumi who claim to be the strongest earth bender you ever seen, but even he struggle lifting that big boulder he was about to throw against Aang, it was that heavy, even when he bending Ozai statue it was heavy for him so I love that when you bending earth you actually lifting heavy weights just like real life. Now imagine yourself as Avatar Kyoshi, moving an entire continent so far into the ocean creating her own island? How heavy do you think that is? That extremely heavy and she did that in her avatar state which means every earthbender and every avatar that can earth bend is all together moving this island. Kyoshi is strong but I dont think she could move the continent without the avatar state it would be unimaginably heavy.

I think it always comes down to why they are fighting and the circumstances but generally I'm always going to pick aang because he has too many defensive resources like seismic sense and his quickness. His airbending alone is far too overwhelming for most avatars as well. i'd imagine that in a fight with korra per say, aang would just evade every attack until he's ready to one shot her because korra's fighting style has little to no defence. Same thing with kyoshi. she has all the bending power but she won't be able to land a quarter of her attacks against aang. Not to say that it will be easy for him. but i think he wins even at 13

Without Avatar State, Korra is the strongest, because:
1) She learned 3 bendings far earlier than Aang
2) She is able to defeat Amon, Unalaq, Zaheer, and Kuvira without her past lives
3) She is supposed to be the strongest overall, but losing her past lives costs her to lose her strength and knowledge of the past avatars
4) Since she lost her past lives, even in the Avatar State, she cannot Energybend, and cannot do what her past lives did
With Avatar State, Aang is the strongest, because:
1) It is stated in ATLA that Avatar State will imbue the avatar with the strength and knowledge of all the past Avatars
2) Aang can Energybend, which can both take and give bending, and Aang did it after he died
3) He inherited his Energybend to Korra through Avatar State
4) Since Avatar State inherited the strength and knowledge, Aang could do what his past lives did
Overall, the latest Avatar will always be the strongest unless have the situation like Korra...

I think Aang would have been the strongest Avatar. Outside of the Mastering of elements, I think maturity would have played a huge role as he got older. Also he was able to tap into different past Avatars for guidance but also figures out ways to be balanced and fair in the most difficulty of circumstances, in comparison to a lot of other past Avatars.

Unrelated, but I'd enjoy an Avatar that only fought defensively rather than trying to fight their opponent--maybe they have acrobatic skills like Ty Lee, along with chi blocking. Aang's largely a pacifist, but that was moreso with killing. He wasn't really afraid to use his powers to fight if he felt like he had to.
Its Aang or Korra until the cycle was broken and restarted. They literally state in the series the Avatar state is the current Avatar channeling the abilities of ALL previous Avatar's through them so basically each new Avatar ultimately becomes more powerful then the previous one once they master the Avatar state.

Kyoshi was written with the highest level feats she is meant to represent the utmost limits of what it means to be an avatar. She is like superman in a narrative sense she was something for other avatars can look up to(literally and figuratively). Aang was written to be the last avatar the one to surpass al others like goku. Korra feels out of place like an afterthought. So from a story point of veiw it should be Aang then kyoshi then korra then the rest because each bender represents an element with ideals to match
I wonder if the Avatar really lost access to their past life's with Korra getting separated from Raava. Maybe after Korra future Avatars works the same on access to thier past lifes starting at her to gain wisdom form. However before Korra they have to find thier past lifes before Korra in spirt world now to talk to them. lol just a crazy theory😂

Just because she doesn’t really have her past lives, we can’t deny she did have them and gained the story of some in the tree of time where she goes to meditate
I also don’t think past lives being gone makes the state “weaker” the past lives don’t really know anything about the modernised world and techniques tbh also Raava is huge and she could talk to Raava about weaknesses

Korra vs Aang I’d say she would also take that due to proper combat (this is with morals as you stated) it’s also been stated by writers Aang would evade the situation 9/10 times which gives him speed advantage but 1/10 Korra grabs his cowl and beats him up which would proves the combat adv

TLoK is a continuation after ATLA not 2 separate things what 💀 plus Michael and the other guy are actual owners of the franchise and bring up both all the time therefore it is canon they even said the story of wan and concept told Raava which was written in Korra is canon.

kuruk has many feats but easily he has the highest durability and strength did u forget he punch father glowworm so hard it literally broke the fabric of reality and guess what he want even at full
power he was like 90 percent dead (spiritual dmg) when he fought father glowworm and plus kuruk even without the LITTERAL ESSENCE OF LIFE in his body he was still strong(durable enough) to kill spirits before he body broke down at a molecular level don't sleep on kuruk he had w feats and plus he go around challenging the strongest benders for fun and would always win he created an air bending technique and don't forget he was expert hunter with precise accuracy
so yangchen wont oneshot him he'd just fight through it
Sorry but since when did he punch father glowworm that he break the fabric of reality?this is not marvel or X-men and no other Avatars had that kind of unimaginable power.The feat you're talking about was Kuruk using his fist combine with the elements.It needs both of their energy Him and father glowworm to achieve that they're ALMOST BROKE THE SPIRIT WORLD TO THE MORTAL WORLD so 1)It's not the fabric of reality.2)the feat was achievable because of both their energy it's not Kuruk's own feat it basically him and father glowworm.We don't know how strong he is in his prime but if you're trying to bring that into conversation you can't because you're already try to bring WHAT IF here this is something that would never happen and it's fine just stick to canon event.Well he was already a fully realized Avatar of course beating some masters wouldn't be a problem for him as he was already a master of the elements himself.Well any Avatars also had combat experience to begin with so him being hunter is just him had different combat styles than the other avatars while some Avatars had different combat styles than him that's it.

I feel like Aang and Korra have a severe disadvantage towards Kyoshi and Yangchen. Writers can get a lot more creative with the power levels in comics than in series, after all it wouldve made for a boring series if Aang and Korra could just curbstomp their respective enemies with raw power. Its like the Sith in Star Wars; you can have Sith eating up whole planets in distant games or comics or books, but it would break the story if you did it in movies.
The Avatar state is pretty much the same in terms of power, Raava is what powers it, not the past lives, the past lives can give the Avatar State skills and experience
Any Avatar State fight will be a stalemate because they literally all have the power to do the same thing

After reading Kyoshi's books, her power, raw strength, and adaptability are far beyond what Aang has done in the comics. But Aang's accomplishments and feats should not be undervalued either.
That makes aang the most prodigious if anything, but korra had 3/4 down at like 4 years old anyways while aang didn't even know he was anything but a really good airbender until 12
Aang only mastered air bending by the time the show ended he just learned the basics and intermediate level of the other bending cuz why is a avatar who quote on quote mastered all the elements and is scared to face the firelord
