    If you thought the Sands hotel implosion in Las Vegas was quite a sight, get a load of this!

    I had such a great time at this casino. I saw many shows and concerts there. Many drinks and laughs with family. My parents had a great host who took great care of them and hooked them up nicely. Joey V. was the greatest host ever!!!

      Nice 👍🏻 Spent the 1986->87 New Years there. I was a kid then, not allowed on the casino floor, so I spent a lot of time in their arcade. Learned about Chinese handcuffs for the first time, haha

      Before I was born and when my mother was little, my grandparents who live down the street from where I live used to go (and still go pretty often) to Atlantic City and when it was open would frequent the Sands often. My grandma distictly remembers it by the indoor walkway that connected the hotel to the Boardwalk, it also connected to the neighboring Clairidge hotel back when it was part of Bally’s.

    This reminds me of the Stardust implosion, a spectacular fireworks show followed by lots of smoke. Then as the building implodes it disappears into the smoke.

    Reminds me of the Stardust/Frontier implosions in Vegas with the firework countdown.

      They did the same with the New Frontier in Las Vegas but the countdown wasn’t as elaborate. Also Atlantic City seems to be following the trend that Las Vegas does with blowing old casinos off the boardwalk as they did with the Trump Plaza in 2021.

    11 years later, nobody seems to want to build on this lot.

      Yeah it's crazy. I cant believe nothing went on here yet. The biggest problem is because of Casinos popping up in PA and NY and everywhere else for that matter so people dont need to solely rely on AC anymore. AC needs to get away from just relying on gambling because that is prime boardwalk real estate.

      Not to make this political but I think it was because Trump owned it, and also because it was daytime.

      The Plaza didn't get a goodbye like this because there are no plans for the lot. This was a celebratory implosion for the new Pinnacle Casino which backed out years later.

    This was rare for the East coast. Most of our buildings are torn apart with an excavator. Around here dynamite is mostly used for road construction.

    • @noahnorman6877
      @noahnorman6877 7 місяців тому

      Yeah, Las Vegas is more known for imploding hotels that had closed. Atlantic City does it too but it’s not as well known. And the only hotels they’ve blown to the ground were the Sands and Trump Plaza.
