Why do we get PERIODS?

Why do women have periods? In this video, I explore how the menstrual cycle and all the events that take place within this monthly cycle bring about your menstruation or your period. Placing importance back on women's health and reproductive health is so important and it starts with knowledge about our bodies and our period cycle.
There is more to your period than just your menstrual cycle after all.
Our hormones, estrogen and progesterone control the menstrual cycle and in response an egg is released, which is called ovulation, the endometrium or lining of the uterus prepares for a fertilized egg. If pregnancy doesn't happen, then we will see a period. But, why do we bleed every month and why don't other animals bleed every single month? Lets explore the possibilities.
