Hi Rachel. Speechless is common. I've been in a mild state of shock for much of the last few years. Well, I did it. I went up Friday morning. Black flies, hot, sunny, but plenty of time. Mt. Major is the first mountain I climbed at 7 or 8 with my parents and about ten of my siblings. I got some great microscopic photos. So great to get out, twice in one week, well deserved after 2 very long winters, 2 years, no days off. Happy mother's day a week late. I really hope this doesn't lead to severe crowding in New Hampshire, but I can't ethically not inform people of such a discovery. You know, I never heard about all the wicked cool big boulders up there.

Major is always so busy in the warm months but is pretty quiet this time of year. Nice edit 👌

Hi Rachel. Great video! You look familiar. Thank you for your video. I just climbed Cardigan Mountain with my little Daisy. We were on a scientific expedition with my laptop and digital microscope to get microscopic photos of glass coatings on the rock surfaces. I recently checked Madison Boulder, (after discovering a huge Lunar meteorite strewn field from 60 years ago, which overlaps a bit with what looks like an even larger Lunar meteorite strewn field from 17,000 years ago) and it has lots of amazing glass on it's surface. I had a 6 hour window to get up there and get photos and back to taking care of 95 year old Mom. I had about 10 minutes to eat and get photos, which was problematic for getting 50 or so photos. For some reason, my microscope lights weren't working, which makes it impossible, and the bright sun made it difficult to check out what was wrong. I had to abort the mission. Tough decision. I got 30 or so photos with my phone and a small rock from close to the summit. Not enough for a good slideshow, no "solid" evidence.
So, after considering Mt. Major, I decided that since it's not in the White Mountain range, it wouldn't really support my claim that the whole White Mountain range is giant Lunar meteorites from 17,000 years ago, so I never even looked at any photos or videos, but assumed that Mt. Major is probably part of the strewn field.
I"m very excited to report that by looking at your video, Mt. Major and likely the Belknap range is also giant Lunar meteorites. This is great news for me, because I can get there in less than an hour, and it's a much quicker walk, (been up a few times, was my first climb with my family as a kid). I'm going to pick a cloudy day this time, after I make sure my microscope is going to work. Never had a problem before... So, thanks for the great and pleasant video, wish I could stop at Moulton's and Kellerhaus afterwards. Steve

What trails did you take? I’m planning on doing this mountain next year.

I used the Main Trail because it is shortest. In the past I have also tried the Brook Trail, which was fine but I like the Main Trail better. Here is a link to a website that shows the map. belknaprangetrails.org/mt-major/blue-trail/

@@RachelWhelton I think I’m going to do Main to Boulder because I heard the boulders are very cool. Thanks for your suggestion!
