I have been having some weird glitches with my transmission randomly going in and out of neutral from drive. When this happens the pwr door locks unlock and lock. I had this recently diagnosed by my dealership as the TCM. So while I'm waiting for the back ordered part, which thankfully is covered under my powertrain warranty, I've been doing a little research online. There was a lot of confusion on the net as to where the TCM is located on my truck, which is a 2018 Silverado 1500 Crew 4x4 with a 5.3. After seeing your excellent video it became very clear.

If u have issues with the E12 and it doesn't grab. Apparently some sockets are deeper than others. What i did was grind down the E12 i had a little and it worked. When i first put the E12 it would slip off like it was to big but the issue was that the the curved par of the socket was too deep and the star pattern wouldn't make enough contact. Great vid helped me get an idea of what to expect before taking it apart thanks 👍
When programming the tcm can you just take the actual piece in for programming or do you need too have it installed and towed too dealer so they can program it thru the obd2
I replaced the passage sleeve twice and it’s still leaking from the connector. I have a new TECHM installed as well. At this point I’m tired of dropping the pan to address the sleeve. Plus the pins aren’t loose.
So is there a way to use one of these transmissions behind a small block or even an ls style engine not a factory combo? Ive decided to stay with an automatic and i got a 6l80 2wd unit essentially for free. I know the controller is internal and relies on inputs from the pcm so is there a way to mimic the signals that thebtransmission expects to see or....?
What are the torque specs for all these bolts when reassembling? Thanks! Good tutorial!

Can this TCM, even though its internal, still be reset by unplugging the battery for 30 mins?

It looks like you guys accidentally labeled number 5 as the one right next to number 6 when in actuality it's the right bolt on the white prndl housing just to the left of what you labeled 5 as. This video was helpful as I would've been lost, but that bolt being mislabeled threw me through a loop.
you are right, Our tech took out the right bolt but it was mislabel. thank you for pointing that out and im glad the video helped you out!

Does thsi require the vehicle TCM to be programmed if replaced I have faulty one and get a fault for it.
@@Stinky_G04tdid you get that fixed. I just ran into Tcm problems code u0101. I’m going to check my battery and connections first. If that doesn’t work I’ll get to the valve body
@@mr2hard2see so we are having to have it replaced we tryed to reprogram the TCM the first step on the Gm tsb and if it dosnt fix the issue it’s a have to replace the TCm that’s what we are doing sense it’s a high hp car it’s about that time anyway so I’m getting the car done then taking the truck in before it has any issues

I am trying to replace my transmission with a used transmission. Can I just transfer the TCM to the new/used transmission?

I did a LS swap on my 87 C10
I got a donor 2007 Yukon denali. 6.2 6L80 AWD but i ended up getting a 2wd 6l80 from a pickup truck i have a U0100 code and u0140 truck feels like it starts in 2nd or 3rd gear? It doesnt shift thru any gears at all. Do i have to swap tcm from the awd trans to the 2wd trans?
What did you come up with? I'm having the same problem
@@AuDoematic i ended up swapping tcm's from the original awd trans to the 2wd trans and issue and codes went away immediately.

Swapping a 2012 6l80e into a 2014 truck. I have hp tuners but can I get away with just swapping tcm from old trans?
6l80 need to be reprogrammed to Vin.
Can a bad TECHM cause loss of 4WD? I also have no communication with Transmisson. I have received a new valve body with programmed techm for my specific Vin and 6l80 transmission. It says I need to do quick adapts with scan tool. Do you think after doing this my 4wd will work and communication will be restored?
I was told the ECM, TCM needed reprogramming and also needs the quick adapts relearn.
Question, do I still need to send the tcm in even if it is being swapped from another transmission?

I have a 2012 camaro SS 6.2 with a 2010 6L80 behind it. The TCM wont communicate with the ECM. Took it to the fifth shop today and all they did was to loose my tune. Can you delete the vin and install the correct vin into my TCM,

@@HERNDZ454 I’m having issues with my 2011 SS. I have no gear display on the cluster. Also it’s stuck in first gear but has reverse. It still pulls hard but won’t shift and rpms just go up. Is yours like mine?
@@mr2hard2see Yes the same problem. I’m going to get a new TCM and get it programmed. Hope that fixes the problem.

Did you get the TCM from street smart? Did it fixed the problem I’m going to start with mine.
I have a 2008 Escalade with a 6L80e that is having EXTREMELY harsh 4-5 shift under any load. Other than that, there is no slipping, flares, or anything. Logging shows no errors, and there are no codes. Does this sound symptomatic of a TECHM/valvebody issue, or more likely the transmission itself? Fluid is at proper level and not burnt, trans never gets above 145F.
Was it ur gears inside the transmission?
@westhomp1721 techm and valve body fixed the issue for me. Trans still going after replacing the techm and valve body.

Hard shift from 2-3 gear

@remynyc23 it's worth a shot if you can diy. 500 bucks is better than 3k+ for a new trans and I did the techm in a couple hours on jackstands

Where would the Pressure sensor be located?
So if I'm using a 6l80 that came with my motor and the ecu that was in the car do I still have to have the tcm tuned?
A few setting in the ecu would have to be turned off or on (like vats) so yes, you do need to get the ecu in a tuned. If you just put the ecu in the car as is nothing will work.
@@psiconversionyoutube yea I got the ecu done for vats but some people are saying that I have to do the tcm as well just trying to figure out if I have to take it out and send it in
Correct, we offer the TCM unlock as a service, they require additional software to pair the TCM to the ECM if they are mismatched. You will not be able to shift if this is not done properly, and it requires more than HP Tuners. Contact us via phone or email and we’ll help you out

Hey Mike, talked to a few guys here to try and get you some info. Sadly this is not something we do here. That is something you can do but its alot of work and as I'm sure you know not simple to get parts for.
