Wow love your channel just discovered it when looking at Jean Arthur who I have always loved. Will watch all your videos I also have that book. Thanks for your channel and views on Classic movies. Try Best Years of our Lives and that great cast....
Thank you for this extremely informative video about this great actress. I love Jean Arthur and learned so many interesting facts about her from your video. Thank you very much!
A very informative video , delivered with great enthusiasm . One of my favourite films with Jean Arthur is A Foreign Affair . Thank you for the other recommendations in her filmography . Cheers !
I love Jean Arthur one of the most under rated actress's of the golden era. I especially love her in Mr. Smith goes to Washington and You can't take it with you. Very fascinating video, Love your channel. :-) Keep em' coming!
So so happy you made this video 💞 Jean Arthur is one of my absolute faves but as you said, it's just so hard to find any information on the lady herself. My god I'll be reading that book ASAP! Best reason to be arrested in my opinion! 🐶💞 Omg Scarlett O'Hara?! ...yeah no lol. Leigh's part hands down. I agree Goddard may have worked. Ordering Born Yesterday ASAP.... Oh my gosh Meryl Streep, you lucky duck you! And very happy to hear that Errol stepped in against Curtiz. I'm reading Delores Hart's memoir at the moment and she was less than impressed with him too. I love a bunch of his films, but the more I learn about him, the more angry I get! Ah! What am I doing there 😳! Aww thank you 😘 Fab video as always and now I love her EVEN more 💞 Off to pick a Jean film for tonight's viewing 😁💝 xox
That makes me so happy to read too! 💖Yes, she was wonderful and I was very pleased to at least find one book on her. Much like the actors I have covered, she didn't seem to regard her work that highly which is a bit sad but the book seems well documented. I really recommend it to get some more information on her although it would have been great to have her memoir or some experiences told firsthand. Oh yes, I think Michael Curtiz was a great director, I love too many of his films but as a person... Maybe it falls into John Ford's category 😳Dolores Hart, that must be interesting! Lots of Elvis anecdotes I suppose! Would be great to know your thoughts on it ✨ Yay, a little shoutout is always nice 😘I had been meaning to do one for weeks! Thank you Lee!! I hope you enjoy Jean Arthur's films 💘Xxx
Great video! I absolutely love Jean Arthur. I just finished watching The Whole Town’s Talking and will be watching Only Angels Have Wings next. I will be posting a video myself this week on some of her films to mark her birthday. I’m a new subscriber and looking forward to watching more of your content.
Thank you for watching the video! Excellent line-up of her movies, very different but fantastic in my opinion. It would be excellent to know your thoughts on her films too so I will be joining in for that video. I was also pondering a video with my favorite movies of hers so I hope I can share it as well. I truly appreciate your comment and sharing the love for Jean Arthur!
recently watched A LADY TAKES A CHANCE on youtube. Didn't know Arthur ever starred with John Wayne! UA-cam also has her "breakthrough" role in the Edward G. Robinson movie THE WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING. Really enjoyed both films.
@@kathyh4804 Arthur was 42 when she starred opposite John Wayne. She usually starred with leading men who were much younger as she looked 10 yrs younger than she was. Going to watch THE DEVIL AND MISS JONES next. I recommend THE WHOLE TOWN'S TALKING as I was surprised how good an actor Edward G. Robinson was.
@@MiriamVintageClassics I bought " Jean Arthur, The actress nobody knew " a few months ago. I haven't had a chance to read it yet, but hoping to over Christmas. One of my favourite films of hers is "If you could only cook" a 1935 comedy/romance with Herbert Marshall. If you're into old Hollywood actress biographies, one i can recommend is " Ann Dvorak, Hollywood's forgotten rebel " by Christina Rice. It's an interesting insight into her dispute with Warner Bros, which ended with her losing her "A" List status. As well as other aspects of her life.
@@bovinestool1681 Great, that's an interesting book on Jean Arthur, definitely an actress that deserves to be explored a lot more. I don't really read that many actresses or actors biographies to be honest but the one you mention about Ann Dvorak has popped up a couple of times so I will definitely check it out!
Kristen Scott I agree! She took almost five minutes to start her list. I’ve read the biography of Jean Arthur and have seen practically all of her films so this woman didn’t provide anything new to me or likely other Jean Arthur fans.
Megan Lee Megan, taking almost five minutes to get to the topic shows either poor planning or wandering off script. People came to listen to the topic of the video, not some meandering babble. Yes, I know Megan I can go elsewhere; I am aware of my options. Thank you.

You mean me? It’s Miriam. Thank you for watching ✨

There is a plaque for her outside her birthplace in Plattsburgh, NY.
She’s one of my favorite actresses!

I love her in the The Whole Town's Talking with Edward G. Robinson. Lesser known comedy from 1935.
Too Many Husbands (with Fred MacMurray and Melvyn Douglas) and also If Only You Could Cook (with Herbert Marshall) are loads of fun too. :)

Me too!! That’s ONE Jean Arthur movie I had not seen before! It was a cute movie

She was brilliant in Shane. She should have won an oscar for it
My favorite Jean Arthur performance: The More the Merrier
I love that film, too!
She’s also my favorite!
I just found discovered that book a few days ago. It's on my list! 📚 I'll have to check out Born Yesterday 😃
You are in for a treat with both! I also hope you enjoy them ✨

Jean Arthur was a great star
This girl talks too much! I mean get 2 the point already! Am I right?!
No because that's the point of these videos and if you don't like it either skip around or don't watch

So impatient! She's just giving basic background and context. Not everyone knows Arthur's past, especially as she did her best to obscure it.
