Same bike, same exhaust. I freakin LOVE IT. Every time I ride it it’s like I’m 10 years old again and I opened the Christmas present I always wanted. Every single time!!
BEAUTIFUL! I used to drool over 600cc and 1000cc sports bikes but man... the naked bikes are more stylish, cheaper on insurance and the powerband is 20x better! That new Yamaha MT-09 got me going lol
+Hunter Honda Thanks for the comment. It was the 3/4. Looked MUCH better, without the huge catalytic converter hanging off the bottom. I never used the insert. As long as you keep the RPMs down, it's reasonably quiet and shouldn't piss your neighbors off too much, when you're rolling onto your street at night. :)
Believe it or not, it's a cheap $29 Radio Shack lapel mic. Ran its cord underneath my seat and clipped it onto my plate. I screwed up and uploaded the video with mono output, when I posted this. It's not a stereo mic, but definitely sounds a lot better, when the sound is coming out of both speakers. :D Just make sure to get the pack of windsocks, if you pick it up. Makes a HUGE difference.
Thanks for the comment! That wasn't even wide open, on those straights. Had it about 3/4 coming out of the corner on that last stretch, to get the pipe howling a bit! Too bad the recorded audio doesn't do it justice. Love the bike!! Really manageable power, and comfortable to ride. I also have a ZX10R for when I'm doing the type of riding where I need to tuck in! You won't be able to tuck in too well on the CB with the upright riding position. Besides there's no fairing to hide behind anyway. :)
Hi, Anderson. Thanks for the comment. I'm averaging around 34mpg (14.45 kilometers per liter), when I'm riding normally and not ham fisting the throttle, like a maniac. So it sounds like yours is getting about as good fuel mileage as mine. Wow... 18,000?? It's too bad you couldn't have bought it here and shipped it home. ;) You can find them here for 10,999 at most dealers.
Hey, thanks! It's an Icon Airmada. You'll want a full face helmet, no doubt. Good choice on the next ride! You won't regret it. I saw your wheelie vid and this bike is a wheelie machine. :) You can easily pop the front up in second, with nothing but throttle.
Cool! Thanks for the reply!! : D Life in Brazil is very difficult Damon. '( Consumption is equal! The Brazilian has 75 Gasoline / L Octane. Do not be alarmed, here the government authorizes the mixture of 30% alcohol in the fuel. CB1000R is the bike with 1000 CC cheaper country. The zx-10, Yzf-R1 or CBR1000RR cost 27,000 Dollars : D The WAGE FLOOR here is $ 237.00 ... A pleasure to talk with a person from another country. Best Regards brother, and good accelerated!!!
At the shop where I bought the bike. It was a wheel tape decal set, but I can't remember who made them. I thought that they would look good, with the gold forks up front and blue anodized suspension adjusters, that were on the CB1K... and they did. :) Especially on the back wheel, with that single sided swingarm. The stock wheels are pretty bland, until you do something to bring 'em out.
awesome video :D what kind of helmet are you using? this is gonna be my next bike, and my current helmet does next to nothing for wind noise. being that this bike doesn't have a windscreen, i'll need a better helmet
Sounds nice with the yoshi exhaust. I have the same bike with the laser gp extreme. Love it , only issue i have with this bike compared to my previous bikes is that i think it's crazy thirsty....kind of like me in weekends..... Cheers
I love those Laser GP pipes! I was considering those, when deciding on which to put on this bike... and yeah, fuel efficiency definitely didn't seem to be a priority, when they were designing these. :) I have a ZX-10R also and think that even it uses less.
Sounds like you don't have the bike anymore. I change bikes often myself lol. If this was already asked, my bad, I didn't see it. Did you get a fuel controller or just slap on the Yoshi and go? I have the Yoshi in my shopping cart but haven't pulled the trigger yet because I have the funds for a Yoshi, but a fuel controller too at the moment.
Old Goat Ninja No, don't have it anymore, but this is the one that I wish I had NOT traded in. Was a lot of fun and definitely got its share of curb attention. :) About the controller, yes. I picked up the Power Commander V, along with the exhaust. The exhaust was their 3/4 system, so eliminated the catalytic converter. Anytime you do that, you need to adjust the fueling. If you just get the slip on, you're good to go. The good news, if you do have to get it, Dynojet has the maps for the CB100R and R77 combo, on their site, so you won't have to have it tuned at a shop!
Really nicely done. Just sold my 919. I test rode the 1000R. It's a possibility. Maybe it will stay a while. Four Nighthawks. VFR750. 919. ZR750. FZ1000. Make some more as you keep it.
I called my insurance carrier, Progressive, last year wondering about full coverage for this bike. They told me it had enough of the "racing" features that is was classed the same as the CBRs. The quote was outrageous. I don't recall exactly what it was, but it was a ton.
Yeah, I had the PCV on this bike. If you have the 3/4 system, that eliminates the catalytic converter, you should definitely get one! Not sure that it's good for the engine, otherwise. Not to mention, you'll get better performance.
Hey damon burke, nice vid ! I especially loved when you went WOT on those long straights hahaha, I have a few questions as I am interested in this bike ? How do you like it ? is it nimble ? is the power manageable ? And also, how is the seating ? cuz I sat on it at work and that little " bump " or "bulge " from the passenger seat feels like a nail in my back when i backed up intot he seat and got into the tuck position. Any info helps ! thanks ! and keep up with the vids !
+Csirkefoga Depends on which state you live in. :) In Florida, we don't have the strict emissions requirements, that they have in California, etc. Are you at least able to install a slip on exhaust over there, while keeping the catalytic converter? At least that'd (mostly) get you the sound!
+D. Burke slip-on is an option, but replacing the catalytic converter isn't. The yoshi full system is a drooler for me, but will most likely go for an akra slip-on.
Hello Damon, My name is Anderson, and I have a model of this. I wonder how much KM / L it makes in your country. Here, we do not use galons we use liters. My CB1000R is 14km / L. Here in Brazil is very expensive! About 18,000 Dollars (The minimum here is 287.00 Dollars). The biggest complaint of the owners is not exceed 250 Km Best Regards;
No, I had the suction mount and it was attached to the tank, on this video. I use a chesty mount on my newer vids, of the R1 and Grom. :) Still not sure which I prefer.
Yeah I can't ride with my legs out in front of me like that. The CB1K will blow the Night Rod into the weeds. My friend has a Screamin Eagle VROD and it's ok for a few miles. Once we hit the highway, the 1K just leaves it in the dust as he gets blown off the back of the V.
Fuj Kami The riding position does take some getting used to. The wind blast is pretty intense at > 80mph, too... Great for a hot day though. It's more of a secondary bike. I always have some supersport or another, for when I'm needing to take out some aggression. LOL
I really liked the Street version with the lower front bars and pegs back. That's really what a drag bike is all about. But it's cool with feet forward. Just needs the rest of the car around it!
They're great bikes! Only had this one up to about 140. No windscreen, kept me from wanting to do more... but it would've kept going, if I'd have let it. :)

damarcus dasher Good choice! I loved that bike and to this day, regret trading it in. The fastest I had that one up to was about 140. Without a windscreen to tuck behind, that's about all I could take. :) The bike was still pulling though. I think the actual top speed is about 155mph.
Same bike, same exhaust. I freakin LOVE IT. Every time I ride it it’s like I’m 10 years old again and I opened the Christmas present I always wanted. Every single time!!
Sounds awesome
the sound of the yoshimura, on acceleration, is beautiful, a pure delight to the ear.
Thank you for sharing
Wow, that sounds amazing. I think this is the exhaust that sounds the best for this bike.
Your bike is beautiful congratulations

dang! sounds very nice man! is this a 3/4 or slip on? and is the silencer still in it?

Nice video, sounds great.
Love the Four Finger Clutch Punch!
Reminds me of the old NightHawk a bit, Plan on getting this bike sometime this summer!
very nice sound of exhaust

My left ear hurts :P

I was just wondering if you received a commission check from honda. It's because of this video that I purchased my 2013 cb1000r
LOL Nope, haven't received it just yet. Glad I could help sway your decision, :) Enjoy and looking forward to seeing some videos of yours!
Where are you shooting his vid?
It sounds great. Ever ride with an fz-09, if so any thoughts. Also, could 6'4" fit on this bike?
Jerrod Spring I'm 6'4, too. :) The bike fit great!
Is the insurance on this higher than lets say a 600cc super sport?
call the insurance companies bro
Alright man
Cesar melchor You should live in Florida... Insurance is optional. :D I learned the hard way (with my ZX10R), that it's worth having though.
Damon Burke it's funny that you say that, I actually live in central florida haha
I called my insurance carrier, Progressive, last year wondering about full coverage for this bike. They told me it had enough of the "racing" features that is was classed the same as the CBRs.

great match bike-exhaust
a couple of bends would have been appreciated...
sound so great ;) like this vdo,.
is this a full system or clip on
where did you get the blue on the rims
do you have a power commander installed? I also have a yoshi 77 installed on mine I've been thinking about getting a power commander
Yeah, I had the PCV on this bike. If you have the 3/4 system, that eliminates the catalytic converter, you should definitely get one! Not sure that it's good for the engine, otherwise. Not to mention, you'll get better performance.

Just bought one
Is this setup legal for road use in the US? Def not in Europe, so I can only be envious :(

No, I had the suction mount and it was attached to the tank, on this video. I use a chesty mount on my newer vids, of the R1 and Grom. :) Still not sure which I prefer.
I've been torn on the suction mount. haven't bought it yet but might look into that one for sure.
Did you keep the CB1000R and if not, what did you replace it with?
Fuj Kami No. Traded it in, about a year ago, for a 2014 Harley Night Rod... although, I've got to say... I still miss the CB1000R. :/

Your video is missing some wheelies man !! :p
nice man
you drive like my 80 old grandma
she is alive! so..drive like this is good?
very sexy bike o.O
Thanks man! Is that your Versys, in your pic? I was looking at those too, last year! Nice bikes.
Водитель MMC тоже любитель зажечь!
Im on my mountain bike faster.

damarcus dasher Good choice! I loved that bike and to this day, regret trading it in. The fastest I had that one up to was about 140. Without a windscreen to tuck behind, that's about all I could take. :) The bike was still pulling though. I think the actual top speed is about 155mph.
Oh okay thanks
Agreed. I always thought of this one as a wheelie machine, with all of its midrange power. It really is a "hooligan bike". :D
