Just wanted to comment that although I dislike him, Matahachi is a beautifully written character. His journey perfectly depicts the flaws of man; everything you can possibly do wrong. And yet there is this feeling that he can see the light through the darkness. He can see the path to becoming a better person and as the story progresses you end up wanting him to change for the better. This is a complete opposite for Ittosai who's self is fully absorbed into the darkness and whether or not he makes it out only depends on which path will give him more strength. Also want to add that during their clash Musashi was that light for Ittosai. There was a small moment where we could have seen his sword take on a new form but he just regressed. Amazing analysis of Vagabond I always though it was a good or evil thing but after listening to this i've realized that it's more complicated than that.
You put together an amazing analysis that sums up really well the message behind inoue’s masterpiece. Besides, i didn’t appreciate enough the horse panel but i do now thanks to you. Thank you!
Matahachi is such a cool dude man! Hobestly everyone hates him but if you became friends with him and he eventually told you everything that went down cause he gained some trust, wouldn’t you really start to love him. It’s hard to see but people like that become exceptional company to hang out and just live life with. Musashi would be so lame to talk to and drink with.
