Aside from the song, I love the scene of Maindrian walking along the long line of all these 48 beautiful classic exotic cars he had stolen towards the Uninsured Eleanor.
It's been said a thousand times, but the original music adds so much to the movie, I really wish they'd at least put the mono soundtrack o the DVD as an option. Also, Pumpkin's hair is bigger than some of the cars they stole...
Thanks for posting, was disappointed when I bought the remastered original to find that it didn't have the 70's soundtrack, still a good movie however.
it was clear that this clip was edited in sync with this song, so the changed soundtrack version as a result is even more stupid in this scene thanks to that
I saw this in 74 I was 6 at the Evansville drive in the car was on a trailer I walked up an touched it an older guy said watch this an shook the hole dog house an I thought wow that stayed with me
Wow, so much better with the original soundtrack on the clips I have seen. I have the DVD and the cheesy music...which made this scene look like it was going to turn into porn.. Makes more sense the original way.
One word: Copyright! Music cost royalties and the estate must’ve been unsuccessful at securing the rights to all the songs used in the original cut, so they replaced it all with the instrumental stuff you see on the rerelease.
@@MrWildcat2009 it certainly gives it a very different feel, wonder if they'll be able to rights in the future and do a dual blu ray release with both soundtracks, with a 4k print scan for the visuals
Chiming in here because I recently caught this on pluto tv and was trying to decipher the music in their version, which did not sound like it was from 1974..
Can't say how many times I've seen this movie. Probably my second favorite behind Siilver Streak. However I would like to have a copy of the original movie with the original soundtrack
They took this song out of the movie ☹️☹️☹️☹️ .. my all time fave film .. I sat at the parkway theater in Oakland and my mom went shopping .. I watched this movie 5 times lol I didn’t wanna leave!! I hate they took this song out of the movie .. I’m gonna have to edit it back in myself!!
I don't mind the DVD soundtrack as an alternate option (a la Philip Glass's scored version of Tod Browning's Dracula), but the original score should certainly be available, no matter what condition it's in.
Several reasons have been given: #1 The original film soundtrack is in poor shape, containing a lot of noise, clipping and general poor '70s soundtrack issues. It isn't acceptable by modern standards. #2 Allegedly, Phil Katcheturian wouldn't release the rights to his songs for the DVD issue (this has also been said about one of the Halicki brothers who had a hand in writing some of the songs). It all comes down to politics and money.
@@brandonthemainstreetelectr1204 Probably could if those elements still existed. From what I've gathered through research is that the negative for the film doesn't even exist anymore. For the released version, all we have is a 35mm interpositive, and for the unreleased version; just a 35mm print. When Toby's estate got auctioned off, either they never kept these items initially; they could have been stolen; or they could've been destroyed. From my understanding, there's still a bit of bad blood between Denise and the family. Notice that NOBODY from the film has ever given an interview to be included as an extra?
Why'd the hell they take the song out the DVD?? They ruined it!!!! They replaced the Very 70s tune with boring, highly depressing piano music... does not sound 70's anymore.
What a song ! The movie and original soundtrack were dynamite !

This scene/song takes me back far! When music was meaningful and had great content!
I am so glad this exists on UA-cam
I love the original soundtrack from Gone in 60 Seconds especially the song Lois Lane Blues.

yep I just cant watch the remastered. Just not the same movie without this epic soundtrack. Glad I still have my VHS
Baskingshark I Concur!!!! I'm heartily disappointed they took the 70s tune and replaced it with boring piano crap music.
Couldn't agree with you more. Love the original soundtrack on the VHS version. I have a VHS copy of Deadline Auto Theft and will never part with it.

Pumpkin was hot with all that 1970's hair. (:
I love original insertion song of this movie. Thank you for up-loading it.
Beautiful cars and músic, thanks from SPAIN.
JUAN ESPAÑOL you're welcome!
Quite the show in Its day, Low budget but testosterone laced even with less than modern day special effects

Phil made the movie with his music just like AC/DC did with Maximum Overdrive.

@Adrian Vegas no it was more like top 40 and off beat mainstream sounding stuff.
This is a really great song from the 70's why did they take it out for the dvd.

I agree! I think the new music ruined the DVD film. Some things need to be left the way it was before

What music they used in the wrecker scene was awesome. thanx for posting this.

She need's a man
Superman, Superman, Supermannnn
There should've been a soundtrack record and/or CD. I'm just lucky to have the original VHS tape that I still need to transfer to DVD.

The original is the absolute best.
Had this on VHS when I was a kid and just watched the whole movie on yt but this was missing! Well pissed!
Just watched the DVD after Swimming, very Disappointed this song wasn't in it!!!!!

Can't they just use the vinyl audio or master tapes?

Maindrian is unaware that Eugene is going to call the cops on him.
That'll fix you Mr Bigshot

I know, it sounds to 80s for a 70s movie
Wow... I guess I'll keep my opinion to myself, (since this awful song totally sucks, but everyone seems to dig it.) 😵😜🤫
This shit's still better than Led Zeppelin
