Yes, at the end of the day he's incredibly loyal and he will do anything for his friends and is kind of a big softy, but his image and early character development is all bad boy.

One of the great things this game and the vanilla version did is that they REALLY set you up to hate Kamoshida (Kamoshithead, some would cal him) to the bone and to give you that sense of urgency that you HAVE to change his heart. They really did a good job on giving you the motivation to enter the palace again.
Ok random but watching the P5R intro got me thinking about this again. P5 has one of the best intro sequences in any game ever imo, it does a great job of instantly pulling you into this strange and intriguing world and foreshadowing future events while still witholding enough information to keep you guessing in suspense, and all with great pacing. P5R kinda throws all that out the window by shoving the Kasumi scene in the middle, breaking the brisk pacing without adding to the suspense in any way, rather taking away from it. I've seen a bunch of people play this opening blind, and most of them becomes noticably less immersed when the kasumi scene starts and the pacing is broken, and ALL of them burst out laughing when she calls Joker senpai. Anyway rant over, incredible incredible game and I really hope you enjoy!
Agreed, it really feels like "look, see, we're doing things different because it's the re-release, and here's the new character", but only people who played the original will recognise that, to anone else it's a wierd abrupt detour emphasising someone they already don't know from anybody else.
I mean, yeah, leaving the Kasumi and the troubling parts of adapting things from japanese and as a persona lover... is it REALLY a great job of "instantly" pulling you in and a "great" pacing in the intro? I don't mind, I really love the persona series for being a mix of a VN and JRPG but try and see it from the eyes of an average person. The intro is looooong even in vanilla P5. I've not only seen streamers quit because of the pacing but also friends saying that they love the concept and have actually been asking me about the plot of the different persona games. Their problem is the length and I find it really hard to defend P5R in that sense. The game throwing different tutorials almost 'till mid game, even if their random and small info, makes it feel like you're not even out of the tutorial when you're 80 hours into the game.

Persona 5 was my first persona game, then was P4, and I'm currently playing P3. In older games intro was much longer and much less engaging, I even think that I'd drop P4 if I didn't play P5 beforehand and knew how great it can be. BTW, sorry for my English, not my native language
I actually agree that the original was better despite some of the gameplay "improvements" in Royal. I think the ending of the original was much more satisfying anyway.

Welcome to the Persona 5 fandom! This game is pretty much the best game out there, u'll have a hard time putting down if its really your thing. some tips, save alot in different slots and max out all of your confidants for the best ending before late november i think(been a while since i played) do that and u'll be fine :) Can't wait to see more of your playthrough, its always so satisfying to see someone expirience this game for the first time. Might jump back in myself, couse this gets me totally back in the mood for it :)

Welcome to my favorite game ever. I'm not much of a gamer, tbh. but A friend of mine badgered me into playing this one. Took me about a year to beat it cuz I only get to play on weekends (crazy work schedule + kids) but I have no regrets. that was amazing.
I wish I could make a compilation of everyone I’ve seen play this game when Kamoshida says the “don’t work your pretty little self to the bone” line. Atlus is so good at making me feel ways about characters.

Ah yes, another pure-hearted and innocent soul dipping their feet into the expansive dark, murky ocean that is the Megaten franchise. I hope you enjoy your stay.
seeing that 4/15 is the most replayed part of this video, it really makes me mad to see the development ann gets in this arc of the game, that only ends up wasted through many fanservice scenes. hell, even the modeling part of her confidant doesn't play as much fanservice as those scenes. to clarify, i don't hate Ann, i think they handled her perfectly in this part of the game : she is a victim AND survivor of sexual abuse, from an adult, and manages to stand up to him through the urgency that Shiho's attempt brought, as well as just being pissed off and sick of Kamoshida's behavior, and the ability to change his heart. the problem is that this whole thing, of not being just a toy to use for her body, break, and throw away, is foiled by the sheer number of subsequent fanservice scenes involving her, and it really hurts to see a very cathartic character for people eventually be turned into the opposite of what she is. tl;dr : very strong character that depicts the impact of, as well as surviving sexual abuse, only to be foiled by scenes that appeal to the male gaze

For those interested in a much, much more in depth perspective, I highly recommend the Take Your Time podcast, which is also available on youtube on the Dornology channel. They did 1 episode a week going by the in game calendar, and go over the storylines of the week, what they did, what the learned, etc. Eps are average about 70 minutes. It's fantastic if you're a big Persona fan. They just wrapped on P5R last week (after 50 weeks), but are coming back in July to do Strikers.
@@Mistyfgdf Tbh I didn’t even realize it until you mentioned it, but yea I would say somewhat. Like it made me feel weird and different after it ended but I was still hyped going into ng+ but at the same time I still felt that feeling of nostalgia and like everything had changed after playing it 😌😢
As an owner of the Persona 5 Platinum trophy, I'm still at a loss as to why this is considered such a masterpiece? I'll admit this is fun in places but, it's just the endless, ENDLESS dialogue that takes it's toll.

Persona 5 was 5/5. Persona 5 Royal was 6/5 and officially became my all time favorite video game.
