Sensei Matt , I do not find anything at all wrong with the way you teach . The fact that I can follow your classes on line is great . And I appreciate the fact that you know your students . It would be easy for a man 75 years old like myself to become sedetary . I believe your classes probably add quality years to ones life .

Matt, when i was driving to the therapist two days ago, i saw a gentleman walking down the street carrying groceries. He appeared to be in his mid 20's, over 6 ft. in height and slender build. He was walking eastbound on the sidewalk, as i was traveling westbound. As i neared his location, four identical very large dogs, (unknown breed but black and white long hair variety), charged him from across the street probably originating at a dilapidated house with a broken front fence. There was no doubt, by their demeanor, they were in attack mode. He dropped his groceries and attempted to flee but the animals gained on him. Being i was unable to physically assist him due to the ankle support boot i am now wearing, and this being a very aggravated situation wand the physical harm this gentleman faced, i made the decision to use my vehicle's horn to try to stop the animals conduct. If this didn't dissuade the dogs, i was prepared to use my vehicle, to terminate the attack for the sake of the gentleman.. As i reached the pack, the gentleman was seconds from the actual attack, and unable to escape. Constantly using the horn, it did confuse the animals to the point they broke off the attack and fled, except for one. I again used the car horn as i drove right up to the dog, almost making contact, but it too finally fled with the pack. The gentleman was not injured just in a state of extreme panic. After gaining his composure, he called the authorities, and walked to his residence. This situation was not instigated by the victim, but is a prime example of how if the gentleman had a walking staff, it may have helped him in not being victimized. God bless. Doug.

What a great story. I have been chased by several dogs in my life. I just turned 60 and I think my ability to outrun attackers might be waning. Years ago I use to work at a bar that was close to one of our popular hiking trails and one of the old hikers that use to stop by always carried a golf club. We talked about it one time. It was a multipurpose item.

My 'Son in Law' moved to "Fort Myers," about 150 miles, or so, from
you---his name is Shawn. He was trained in Jui Jitsu, and Military
Hand to Hand Combat. He actually was a part of one of the "Nat-
ional Security Teams" up until about 11--12 years ago. He has
actual Combat experience. Despite my background, I wouldn't
want to tangle with him; But then, he's only 43---I'm 71!

Hi Matt, great to see you again. I got fitted with a "Herman Munster" support boot for my left foot with the minor tendon tear and also using my jo to assist get around. I can drive now, so i can finally get that item shipped to you, that we discussed. Not really much pain, and should be good to go, in about 6 weeks. Glad you `had the bo class again, being i can only perform stationary standing spinning drills at this time, and also using my 7/8 inch cane. Stay safe. Doug.

    REPOSTING ATTEMPT
I was the first to comment on this video and it got removed for some reason so I am trying to post a different version of it in hopes that it won't happen again. In the post that got removed I had an Amazon link and I wonder if that was the cause of its removal.
Ready Service Station for Sticks and Other Things
Command Brand makes a gripper that sticks to walls and is meant to hold brooms and mops but they can hold other things as well. I have been using one for years to hold my mop. These grippers are very similar to the devices that hold shotguns in the front of police cars. I tested my one-inch oak dowel with it yesterday and it seemed to work fine. It holds what it can securely and you just grab and pull to release it. This should help us in prepositioning our equipment.

I am very surprised that this post hasn't gotten any likes or replies yet. As far as I can tell it hasn't been hidden. You can put your self defense sticks on any wall ready to go when you want or need them. You can use these grippers to hold a stick to the underside of a table and other places.

Yep , oil on your weapon is very important, for the reasons you said . When I joined the Marine Corps in 1963 we kept our rifle in our individual wall locker . We were expected to linseed oil our rifle stock at least weekly .

There is the Greek sentiment that "God helps those who help themselves" but it does not hold or ring true in all cases. What you posted is true but may be only partially so. I am not saying you are wrong or attacking you or your beliefs but as it pertains to this topic it requires more study and decisions by individuals.

I didn't get to say thanks for welcoming me, I am 38 yrs old and since your channel, I bought 3-4 black thorn sticks, some are too thin and thorny , but I got one that is 36 inches its beautiful, I am going to take a old walking stick which I believe is 52 inches and redo the finish on it, put a 8 ball pool ball on it, I got the 8 ball from them rope slings they were selling they are excellent self defense items but the rope comes untied had to glue it and it fell apart and the legal part I don't think they are legal everywhere them thumpers they call them like a big monkey ball. and I ran into your channel and walking sticks for defense are much better and building my own I want to get fancy with it with the 8 ball that makes it a "Oak knobbed stick walking cane for 39 inch one (I'm 6' 1") once I cut it down or maybe leave it 52 inches with 8 ball on i, I tell people the black thorn one I have with a "knob" which is a think stick a shillelagh black thorn knob stick walking cane and get no issues with TSA but still its thorny and cannot do them moves we all learn on here, so I got cane masters cane they are making it as I put this dojo cane I got them others with a nasty hook, my mom is like you cannot carry that one nylon filled tactical cane like two pointed hammers on staff handle and super sharp crook on one, so I bought the cane masters and other similar sharpen crook cane in oak and hickory, walking sticks being around 30 inches to 40 inches like canes they are almost considered the same thing these stores sell using both names. The oil method is exactly something I never knew even my uncle who made all kinds of things outta wood never told me to oil the sticks I had from him. I read below about dogs, I was cutting my lawn (parents house) where I live a mean dog came up in my space in yard this is when I was allowed to carry a gun many yrs back,I had a North American Arms 22 magnum mini revolver I shot it into the ground and that dog ran away. Now if that happened no gun I got pepper spray DPS and knife and walking stick /cane, but in reality I must train to not freeze and first thing I have available is the cane/ or stick as if I had pepper spray in hand it would work but its hooked on my side, a win win with the stick your channel here helped me alot and does my mom think I went crazy buying so many sticks and canes, I got bad sciatica and back anyway, don't let no one tell you you look goofy like my mom did me saying carrying a stick is stupid and I look dumb, I know better learning from your channel here, I see it as my job to watch and protect older parents and myself and if warranted someone else if I can. Thank you for making such awesome self defense videos, the stick is awesome tool to add to pepper spray or gun or knife for EDC.
