Faith No More are super amazing. All albums are great, but Angel Dust and King for a Day are beyond musically fantastic. Read some of the lyrics when you get a chance. I don't know why but they resonate with me. Glad you're enjoying one of my favorites.
I've been a fan of Faith No More since this album, but only in the last 5 years has Falling To Pieces become one of my favorite, bouncy jams. Cheers to both of you!
A couple of my personal favorites from Faith No More are Last Cup of Sarrow & Ashes to Ashes. One of the most popular and recognizable songs must be We Care A Lot as it played in the intro of Dirty Jobs. The bass riff totally sticks and once you've heard it you never forget it.
Yay! One of my favorite bands! Mike Patton is by far the best vocalist in the industry! You should also check out their cover (and the original, too, by the Bee-Gees) of 'I Started A Joke.'
Good song to check out but you might want to avoid the video. None of the band is in it and the actor who is lip syncing distracts from the great vocals Mike is doing.
I remember the first incarnation of Faith no More - with Chuck Mosley as lead singer and I'd recommend you check out their song "We Care a Lot" - which has the same vibes and is really cool. Another artist from that time you must check out is Henry Rollins - especially songs like "Disconnect" and "Liar". I saw Henry Rollins live several times in Melbourne - with the band as well as when he was doing spoken word. Awesome artist ❣

Faith no More are unique. And weird. Mike Patton is a crazy genious. They have so much variety in what they do, these 2 songs you've listened to are the commercial ones, easy-listening. If you want deep, sober, emotional, different, react to their song Pristina. Very different. It will get to you. It's just a wow masterpiece.

The Faith No More songs "A Small Victory" and "Midlife Crisis" are both great songs. You should also check out the video for "We Care a Lot" which features FNM's original lead singer Chuck Mosley. My favorite FNM song was never released as a single. It is called "Zombie Eaters".

What I love about Faith No More is that every album was completely different. A lot of that comes from singer Mike Patton who's one of the most versatile figures in music. Dude has like a dozen bands that are all unique. He's done everything from rock, rap, trip hop, pop, jazz, death metal and even an album of 1960's Italian love songs performed with a full orchestra. If you ever want a rabbit hole to go down, just start checking out his career.
I'd suggest The Real Thing, it's the title track from the same album as the two songs of theirs you've heard now! It's a longer one but a great, atmoshperic ride. Also, not sure if anyone's said, but I think it was Falling to Pieces playing in the background early in Black Hawk Down, when they were preparing for the mission, so you've heard a bit before, haha
Mike Patton has been in a lot of bands. In many different styles. Man can sing anything. A few I would love to see you react to. A band ahead of their time. This album was a game changer for the late 80’s early 90’s. In that meandering time post hair-metal and pre-grunge. Faith No More has a lot of amazing music but this album was instrumental in altering popular music.
Nice! FNM is one of my all time fav bands. I’m so glad you guys caught the musical diversity. Real quick, the bass player is jazz trained, keyboardist is classically trained, guitarist is metal, the vocalist is sound influenced and the drummer is African rhythm. Yes, Easy is amazing but off of this album, The Real Thing is killer. Full on metal is Digging A Grave.
I was actually recently thinking about suggesting them again, so.....yay!!! My favorite song by them is "Ashes to Ashes" where you can actually hear Mike's great "singing" voice alot. Gotta try "Midlife Crisis" too. Very underrated. I remember watching them the first time they were on Saturday Night Live, right around 1990 I guess, and just saying I had never seen a drummer just attacking those drums like their drummer did. Amazing live!
I remember that SNL, I watched it live. Patton was so out there, still is, but nowhere near his younger years. I may have also watched it because that man is one of the reasons I wanted to become a groupie, lol. Such high aspirations.
The first time I heard this band I loved them right away. They are completely original and blended so many different styles of music together in such an artful way. I love when he lays down those bars. 🕊❤️🎼
It’s cool you guys are digging faith no more, honestly they are a hidden treasure in music, extremely diverse band, maybe as diverse as it gets, they have some stuff that is so beautiful, then, some stuff they can just hurt your feelings, extremely influential, I hope you guys enjoy the Faith No More Journey as you continue
"Best" (MY favorite) line in these lyrics: "Droplets of 'Yes' and 'No' in an ocean of 'Maybe'..." 🤘🤘 --The "true genius" (which is an ...inept phrase ...as: this album is end-to-end "bangers." Effectively: perfection!] is, really, the title-track: "The Real Thing" (if you don't listen to -and analyze!- that, you DO NOT understand what Faith No More is about! 🤘🤘💥). -What MANY people have never heard or "known" is that: Mike Patton, literally, wrote the lyrics to this, entire, album in the span of, some, 10 days to 2 weeks (approximately)! ! ...and it was the first thing he did after being asked join the band! He wrote nearly every word and structured the rhythms, wordplay, implicative play, metaphors, etc., etc. etc.[*the only songs which feature other lyrical contributors om the album, are: "Zombie Eaters" (which has some work with:guitarist Jim Martin) and the aforementioned, genius, title-track: "The Real Thing" (which features some contribution from: Billy Gould (the bass player).).] -I do NOT know, specifically, what either of the other two contributed or changed, etc. in either one of those songs, ...but every other song is: a total "splash and stream out of" Mike Patton's roiling, beautifully strange, mind! 💜💜🤎💗🔥🔥🔥🔥 🤘🤘 All of the music was already written and ready-to-go (before the band, even, convinced Patton to join or entered the studio to put this down to vinyl!!!!!🔥🔥🔥 💥💥).
These dudes are beyond real. Their messages are superb. They’ll get you through the lowest points & come out shining on the other side. It’s all about FAITH ✨
Hey, great reaction. My wife is good friends with the cousin of the bassist of Faith No More. Had the chances to meet him at a party in the late 90's. Cool, talented guy.
Ugh…my teenage love for Mike Patton knew no bounds ❤😂…I remember going to see Mr. Bungle at the Metro in Chicago. Got right up in front of the stage, super excited to see MP. Little did my poor naïve self know he’d be wearing a mask the entire show and I’d soon be stuck in a mosh pit the likes of which I’d never seen. 🤣…ah, good times. Lmaoo
I love when you guys review my favorite songs. BTW Mike Borden the drummer spent some time in Ozzys band. The also do an excellent cover of Sabbaths War Pigs.
"Let me tell you something Grimes, we're already carrying 50lbs of gear as it is. Don't need another 15. Besides I don't plan on running away." Hearing this song with that bass and riff gets the blood flowing. Plus it's low key the only song I hear when either dressing up or putting on safety equipment.
Mike Patton was barely out of high school when he recorded this/joined FNM. His first band, Mr. Bungle is amazing! They combine heavy rock, death metal, jazz, funk, klezmer, ska, lounge, punk, avant garde (sometimes all in the same song!) Definitely check out Mr. Bungle!
Midlife Crisis, The Real Thing, From Out Of Nowhere, We Care A lot, A Small Victory..Their cover of the Commodores classic Easy is brilliant, you guys will love the contrast between all these songs.
I can’t believe this is only your second reaction to Faith No More. The album version of this song is so much better. You guys should check out their these next “the real thing”, “strip search”, “everything’s ruined”, “midlife crisis”, and “easy”. Just to name a few
Faith No More has always been a quirky rock band since their inception in the 80's... When (the late) Chuck Mosley was the singer, they made a very unique demo album 'We care a lot' back in 1985... Faith No More was signed to indie label Slash Records in 1986 and recorded their 2nd studio 'Introduce yourself'... which included a re-recorded version of the single - 'We care a lot'... and an odd rap rock track - "Anne's song". The band was: Jim Martin (guitar), Billy Gould (bass), Roddy Bottum (keyboards) and Mike 'Puffy' Bordin (drums)... w/ Chuck Mosley (vocals)... but there were problems from the start and alcoholism eventually got Mosley fired from Faith No More by 1988. Seeking a replacement, FNM finally decided to hire Mike Patton (vocals), whose band Mr. Bungle was another California rock band w/ quirky tunes and struggling at the time... In 1989, the band released 'The Real thing' w/ Patton on vocals (it was the only FNM record where he used a nasally voice)... it was a sonic triumph, but fans didn't get it initially... a mix of funk, punk rock, hard rock, old school rap and even prog rock. It wasn't until the 'Epic' single became a hit on MTV and propelled Faith No More to platinum sales in 1990. Faith No More were also very unpredictable - they recorded a cover of Black Sabbath's 'War pigs'... but also covered 'Easy' by The Commodores... "I started a joke" by The Bee Gees... Rather than go the funk rock route of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Primus... Faith No More released 'Angel Dust' in 1992 and it was a unique hard rock album once again w/ hits like 'Midlife crisis' ... 'A small victory' ... "Everything's ruined"... 'Be aggressive'. However, the musical direction was not guitarist Jim Martin's liking... he quit FNM in 1993. 1995 saw the release of the album 'King for a day...' and it was a raw and heavy record w/ guitars recorded by Trey Spruance of Mr. Bungle... Many felt that it was a Mike Patton solo album and it sold less, despite standout tracks - 'Evidence' ... 'Digging the grave' ... 'The gentle art of making enemies'. Faith No More released what is essentially their best album in 1997 w/ guitarist Jon Hudson titled 'Album of the year'... Exceptional tracks like - 'Last cup of sorrow' ... 'Stripsearch'... 'Ashes to ashes' ... 'Collision' ... 🔥🔥🤘🤘 Unfortunately, the public was weary of Faith No More and the album sold poorly... the band broke up in 1998. Faith No More did reform and record a new album 'Sol invictus' in 2015... Their comeback tour was welcomed all over the world.
Mike Patton gets bored with one project. he is also the lead singer for fantomas and tomahawk. i could go on and on but we would be here all day. my absolute favorite singer.
So I loved this band growing up in the 90's (when I was a young adult). And one day my mom came to visit (totally different taste in music) - and I was playing a CD of FNM - and the song she heard was 'Evidence' - and she loved it. Think you will too - and it has a great bass line.
I watched Epic premier on Mtv when I was like 15 and immediately became a fan. Especially of Pattons uniqueness & seemed to me to be the only person on Mtv to truely be himself regardless of anything at all. For years seemed no one knew of them & I was a lone fan of FNM & Mr Bungle. Strange & awesome realizing now there are lots of other fans out there. Happy to know more ppl than I originally thought appreciate these guys. Funny I believe HEADBANGERS BALL at like 2am one night is when I 1st seen this

I remember that SNL, I watched it live. Patton was so out there, still is, but nowhere near his younger years. I may have also watched it because that man is one of the reasons I wanted to become a groupie, lol. Such high aspirations.
Album of the Year is full of Mike Patton legit singing.
Faith No More has many awesome tunes. One of my favorites is The Gentle Art of Making Enemies.
The first time I heard this band I loved them right away. They are completely original and blended so many different styles of music together in such an artful way. I love when he lays down those bars. 🕊❤️🎼
194, love these guys, Their version of Easy, by The Commodores is awesome. Or their version of War Pigs by Black Sabbath.
Personally, I love "Out of Nowhere".
Mike Patton kills it in every band he has been in. I have seen several of them and he never disappoints.
Oh, just in case, never say they remind you of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Legendary feud that goes all the way back. 😅
"Best" (MY favorite) line in these lyrics:
"Droplets of 'Yes' and 'No' in an ocean of 'Maybe'..." 🤘🤘
--The "true genius" (which is an ...inept phrase ...as: this album is end-to-end "bangers." Effectively: perfection!] is, really, the title-track:
"The Real Thing"
(if you don't listen to -and analyze!- that, you DO NOT understand what Faith No More is about! 🤘🤘💥).
-What MANY people have never heard or "known" is that: Mike Patton, literally, wrote the lyrics to this, entire, album in the span of, some, 10 days to 2 weeks (approximately)! !
...and it was the first thing he did after being asked join the band!
He wrote nearly every word and structured the rhythms, wordplay, implicative play, metaphors, etc., etc. etc.[*the only songs which feature other lyrical contributors om the album, are: "Zombie Eaters" (which has some work with:guitarist Jim Martin) and the aforementioned, genius, title-track:
"The Real Thing" (which features some contribution from: Billy Gould (the bass player).).]
-I do NOT know, specifically, what either of the other two contributed or changed, etc. in either one of those songs, ...but every other song is: a total "splash and stream out of" Mike Patton's roiling, beautifully strange, mind! 💜💜🤎💗🔥🔥🔥🔥 🤘🤘
All of the music was already written and ready-to-go (before the band, even, convinced Patton to join or entered the studio to put this down to vinyl!!!!!🔥🔥🔥 💥💥).
I agree Angel Dust was full of great music! Kindergarten, A small victory,Midlife crisis, Easy, Everything's ruined, are some that come to mind
I love their cover of “easy” ❤
It's still weird to think about but Courtney Love was the original singer in the band before Chuck and Mike
What a trip down memory lane! I used to rock this in my Walkman as a kid…singing loudly while mowing the lawn….
Lmaoo
Sweet! No one ever does Faith No More! I am definitely here for this.😁❤️ This song is a banger too.
Please react to "Last cup of sorrow" or "A small victory" . Faith No More rocks!
This was a band formed with members that all had different genres of music likes. Van Patton was brought in because he was such a versatile vocalist
YAY!!! This song is awesome! So glad you are doing this song!!
There is edit with a MUCH longer bass solo after the first chorus.
Love LOVE this band. Faith No More is Elite.
I love when you guys review my favorite songs. BTW Mike Borden the drummer spent some time in Ozzys band. The also do an excellent cover of Sabbaths War Pigs.
Forgot all about this song! Thanks for the memory and your reactions ❤
I love this song! Faith No More were so ahead of their time!
I saw them years ago open for Billy Idol. So much energy and Mike Patton is amazing!
PLEASE go down the Faith No More rabbit hole. Such a great band. Another great song from them is Land of Sunshine.
It will be a shock, but you should do Midlife Crisis from Faith No More next. It is the same singer :)
Droplets of 'yes' or 'no' in an ocean of 'maybe' is my favorite lyric ever written
Bungle!
The look Amber gave him when he said "Wazoo"! Lol. She's like "wazoo? Is that a word you use? Thats...weird." haha
Unfortunately, the public was weary of Faith No More and the album sold poorly... the band broke up in 1998.
Faith No More did reform and record a new album 'Sol invictus' in 2015... Their comeback tour was welcomed all over the world.
Mike Patton: The greatest singer to ever walk the Earth
This whole album. There, I said it.
They do a great cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”
A good friend of mine used to know their drummer, Mike Bordin, back in the 80s. I think he's amazing.
Since you've done "Epic" and this one the obvious suggestion is "From Out Of Nowhere."
Yes! Loved this song and album.
wooohoo, love these guys, epic rocks forever ----ufo love to love another request,,, YOU WILL HAVE it ON PLAYLIST
Woodpecker from Mars. Amazing instrumental by FNM.
Fun fact: This song was featured prominately in the movie Black Hawk Down when the Rangers and Delta boys were gearing up
I watched Epic premier on Mtv when I was like 15 and immediately became a fan. Funny I believe HEADBANGERS BALL at like 2am one night is when I 1st seen this
Cool! Always loved these guys. I love the weird stuff! And that bass!!
I am new to your channel. As of today. Absolutely love you two. Been deep diving all day. Plus you play deep cuts. Fan forever.
Yep. Mind blown. Patton forever yall
the morning after is another great song from Faith no More
Mike Patton is incredible
The Drummer went in to play for Ozzy, he was also one of Cliff Burton’s (Metallica bass player who was killed) best friends.
About time! I recommended this before you even heard Epic. Glad you liked it. Try Midlife Crisis next. Peace.
