It is still much healthier to listen to Black Sabbath backwards than to Taylor Swift forwards...
🤣🤣🤣
I use a test record like that HiFi News one and have done so for nearly 50 years and it works great for me.
Lmao. “ Take a chill pill. Jesus , this is a hobby. Calm down.” 😂
You're right mate: too many people do get way too bent out of shape about these things and it's one thing I refuse to allow to cause me audio nervosa. The fact is, that there is no perfect anti-skate setting because the ideal amount actually varies as the tonearm travels across the record so any setting is, like much with vinyl, a compromise. I now follow the advice of some people with way more experience in this than me in setting anti-skate to between 1/2 and 2/3 of the setting of the VTF. So my current cart's VTF is 2g and my AS is 1.25. It works well for me.
Your Spot On,I Found Out That Forums are full of People who just want to Waffle on, One says one thing and the Other says the Opposite,By All Means go on the Forums you will get some good Ideas. Anyway Rant over.....
Your bang on mate that's how i've always done it...
Yep, I use a blank disk to set it and check with my ears. If the centre vocal is bang in the middle between the speakers, I’ll settle for that. I’ve just changed my arm from a Linn Akito Mk1 to an Ekos Mk2. On the Akito the anti-skate was 2.5 and on the Ekos it’s about 2.6. Vocal is nailed into the middle and the sound stage is spread from far left to far right. Job done 😄
I tried 10% less than the tracking force on my technics, and the result was significantly better than the standard value equal to the tracking force.
Thanks for the video! I picked up on this discussion too and concluded for myself that, since the perfect amount of antiskate varies even with the volume of a recording, it will never be perfect and using the factory settings where the anti skate number equals the stylus pressure is fine.
Thanks for clearing this up, I'll keep streaming 😂
If you had to set it by playing a song (different tones) that means you would have to reset it every time. I used to do it by eye but now use a blank disk.
Anti social the method I use involves my grandson nothing dodgy I listen he adjusts second track from the end of the lp and listen for sound going in and out of focus it does work I found very well as for black sabbath I once stepped over ozzy Osborne drunk on the floor of the hand and clever in Ranton Staffordshire I didn't know it was him someone told me nice bloke though
Wasn't that his local for a time?
@UTILITARIANTVUK yes he and his first wife had a home at Ranton in Stafford about 7 miles from me always in the hand and clever always hammered but a really great bloke his roady shot the lights out in doxey church another great bloke
I have been using the laserdisc method for years on all my turntables. In theory, it should be somewhat accurate in my opinion..
Rollerblades rules!
I use a blank record also and it is set just about 2.5 Have a good rest of the day.
My turntable is a Pro-ject so it was pre set at the factory so no bother for me fortunately.
What blank disc do you use ?

BTW, Parks is a super cool guy.
He invented the Puffin.
He has a new unit out called the Waxwing which I have and like a lot.
I found that blank record for $7.50 on U.S. eBay
I always just set at 2 then adjusted if needed but not used vinyl in years 👍 and my mom would just add half penny to stylus 🤣
I remember that hack for a skipping record! Probably destroyed our records? 🤣
You tell'em! 😂
