I've always wanted to operate big machines and love you videos and the way you always take care of them. Love you videos, thanks for posting all the time!
Loving the new camera Chris!!! Gives a great perspective. Also thanks for all the great videos and dedication you put into your videos, it definitely shows!!
I always had a dream of operating big equipment but I was a machinist my whole life, I'm retired now watching you work. Thanks for your videos. I imagine myself driving that big dump truck with 10 scoops of dirt. LOL
Trust me it's not that great. Unless you own the company you get paid pennies. And even owning the company you're always under stress and fixing things is expensive and messy. Don't worry you didn't miss a thing! Chris is only successful because the business is family owned and started before he was born. If he tried it on his own he'd have an old mini doing frog ponds. Plus Volvo definitely hooks him up with deals to promote them so yeah...
As clean as you keep your machines I was surprised to see that you didn’t carry a rag to wipe the excess grease off. Volvo putting the grease zerk banks on there is very handy! Wish you would have let that music play! 🎶 Don’t stop, believin!! 🎶
It's good to see routine maintenance being done . It sure does cut done on costly repairs,...a tube of grease is a lot cheaper than pins and bushings!!
We have auto-greasers that make it easy but like you say it can make a real mess especially on the boom since everything is greased at the same rate it seems. I wish we could do end of day maintenance seems like a great idea instead of rushing in the morning when you also have the days work etc on your mind as well. I’d rather have the peace of mind of doing it right so that Milwaukee grease gun looks like a better option. There’s a reason why good machines stay looking good 👍
We always greased the machines at the end of the day after working them also. Was once told that when the metal is warmed up it takes grease and joints will last longer. I believe it helped. You were kinda huffing and puffing there buddy. Lol. That comes with age. I huff and puff just thinking about work any more.
Doing that will always keep the machines in great condition. And the 20 arc pond job looks good that's alot of sediment. Thanks for showing the 20 arc pond Chris great videos keep it up
I was taught, when greasing...to wipe off the zert... *Before* you grease, to avoid injecting dirt into the line(s)....Also, to wipe off any excess grease, when you are done, to minimize the dirt and dust collecting on the tip of the zert....but hey.....this may be over kill for some...but it makes for good practice, for better maintenance......good luck.
Just wanted to say thanks again to Chris I had a question and he will stand up character got back to me ASAP with good info I always liked the little details and meticulous videos either it being something simple as greasing and fueling window tint or just doing little touch-up paint on counterweight etc
So I just started working for this company and we have Volvos 250 and 380, I run my 380 hard all day. In various conditions, concrete dust, mud, water, lots if clay and sometimes at the end if the day my machine starts to squeal. Today my boss tells me, "I'm overgreasing the machine, That I need to grease the machine once a week." What do you guys think?, and if there are any volvo experts out there. Please respond.
You really need to get a G-gun and never run out of grease. It’s a little costly but worth every penny I bought mine about a year ago and love it. Shit they might give you one.
Chris, I know that you like to keep your engine covers and fuel caps secured to prevent any problems. Just thought you should know that Mercedes has a locking DEF cap that fits different DEF tanks. Great videos, keep up the great work!
Wow I just asked him same question last week he sent me a text back same day 35% all around I was thinking of using pretty much same but was going to put a little later on front glad I spoke with him said it will look like a tunnel
Can’t you leave the auto greasing connected and just take it off for the bucket? So that the only manual greasing is the stick. Or do the lines stick out to far even on the stick? Also do they have an option so that everything on the machine is auto greasing.
Please help me with me, please I have excavator 240 I don't know the place where we used to Greece the pinion gear or main gear control the swinging. please help me thank you
Great video. I just found you Chanel and it’s my new favorite. Question for you, I have noticed you have a Millwaukee grease gun and a Dewalt, what one do you like better? I am thinking about getting one.
Chris, we are looking at purchasing a newer backhoe but not new. We are looking at a Cat but I'd be interested in hearing your opinion of a Volvo backhoe. Thanks. I'm from around Surf City NC ( we currently have a 2000 JD 310e)
Honestly I'd rather have the Deere, good backhoe. Volvo does not make them anymore, they wont the best and parts will prolly be hard to find. You can't go wrong with a Deere, cat or case backhoe
I've got a question for you Chris, how come you don't get an lubrication system for your excavator? I can not recall seeing a new excavator, backhoe or loader being delivered in Denmark without it, even my Hydrema 906D backhoe with 3500 hours, that's 6 years old has it on, any specefic reason you don't have one?
Been watching your videos for a while now but this is the first time I've commented. I don't think I've found/seen anything in your videos that I disagree with. From running out of grease when you first start greasing to fueling and greasing daily............................................ "Skadill" has a YT channel similar to yours except he likes to go exploring for old equipment a lot. He's into excavators like you, too.(:>)..................I miss moving dirt!!!!(:
I can't get over how nice that machine is. She is a dirty girl though. Tim seems to be a good helper. How do you clean your machines? Do you have a portable pressure washer? Thanks for the follow up on the dredging project. Could you maybe take that sand and gravel to a producer?
That sure bears the hell out of squeezing a handle. Good practice doing it at the end of the day instead of the morning. Not bad on the DEF use. I hear the price is dropping.? Thanks for the video. I'm sure you've read that DEF needs to be really clean, no dirt, dust or other contaminants can get in the tank or really bad things can happen, also extended time idling is bad too. Here's a good article on it ... www.totallandscapecare.com/lubricants/basics-of-diesel-exhaust-fluid/
YOU KNOW, If you don't clean off those grease fittings OR the grease gun's dirty hose end fitting you pump all that dirt into the joints you are greasing. !
Hey Chris, you may know but if not I was told by one of my mechanics that DEF fluid has a shelf life and can cause serious problems if used after!!! It's ruining diesel engines. Just thought I'd let you know/
The "shelf life" thing about DEF, is that after sitting around a while, experiencing lots of heat, it begins to crystallize, and it's the crystals that will give you trouble if you get them into your tank. The stuff "dries out", that is to say, the water in it evaporates ESPECIALLY if the container holding it is not well sealed up. As for refilling small containers to carry with you, the secret there is to rinse out the empty container after you put the DEF into your machine, rinse it out well with clean water. If you can't rinse it immediately, then later on you will want to use very hot water to loosen any crystals that formed inside that container. Cold or ambient temp water alone will not dissolve any leftover urea that dried inside the container. So rinse them out really well as soon as you can, then keep them closed up tight until you refill them, then again keep them closed up tight. Don't hoard the stuff away for a special occasion, use the stuff out of the containers within 3-4 weeks, and if you are going to reuse the container, rinse it out well, then refill with fresh DEF from your supply source.
Well, if you put DEF in the tank its definitely ruin your engine.... No, seriously: Why would it ruin your engine, as its injected into the exhaust system? The few problems i know of are clogged filters if your store the DEF not warm or an faulty DEF injector in the catalytic filter might disintegrate due to overheating as the fluid cools the injector itself.
DEF isn't put into the diesel tank, it's put into the DEF tank, and DEF doesn't get injected into the fuel system, it gets injected into the exhaust stream.
Buy the DEF in bulk. Around here the 2.5 gal boxes are 11 or 12 bucks on sale. We are getting 55 gallon drums for $177. Even cheaper if you use enough to justify the 330 gallon totes.
Nice work! That’s really nice they have the grease fittings grouped together like that. Lubing the machines is definitely a must!
An old 'Cat Skinner' said "always follow in order, maintenance, food, and then rest". Good advice.
I've always wanted to operate big machines and love you videos and the way you always take care of them. Love you videos, thanks for posting all the time!
Loving the new camera Chris!!! Gives a great perspective. Also thanks for all the great videos and dedication you put into your videos, it definitely shows!!
Use the plastic cap from the grease tube to lift the tab on the other end so you don't have to take off your glove to do it.
Holy shit what an idea. Thank you friend
Tired old mechanic here I thought I was the only one who done that haha
I was way to excited to offer that piece of advice only to see you had beaten me to it.
Been doing it forever that way. Glad some others think alike
We were taught to use the cap to open the tab in school.
I always had a dream of operating big equipment but I was a machinist my whole life, I'm retired now watching you work. Thanks for your videos. I imagine myself driving that big dump truck with 10 scoops of dirt. LOL

Maintenance daily very important Chris, excavator looking good 👍👌😎
Go upstream and see who needs it back and offer them a good price per yard.
Looks like Volvo could have given you a little more room to fill up the diesel fuel have a good one Chris enjoy your weekend
Glad to see you grabbed a Milwaukee grease gun finally!
I've worn out Lincolns and a dewalt, time to try this one
Love my Milwaukee gun and all of their tools.
Best grease gun I've ever owned.
@@letsdig18 how has it held up abouy to buy one for my new 60g

Preventative Maintenance is the key to making any equipment last!
I have the Milwaukee greaser coming, sure looks like it makes life easier.
Take the blue cap you pull off tube of grease to pop the tab off other end so ya ain’t gotta take gloves off
Doing that will always keep the machines in great condition. And the 20 arc pond job looks good that's alot of sediment. Thanks for showing the 20 arc pond Chris great videos keep it up

Started as oiler on a dragline in 1969. Grease came in a 5gal bucket and loaded my greasegun by hand !
Sat behind jesus in the 3rd grade. And had cable shovel and blades back then too.
Just wanted to say thanks again to Chris I had a question and he will stand up character got back to me ASAP with good info I always liked the little details and meticulous videos either it being something simple as greasing and fueling window tint or just doing little touch-up paint on counterweight etc
never knew I needed a battery operated grease gun... You're costing me money
How is the newbie doing on fuel consumption? Looks like daily maintenance couldnt be any easier! Thanks for the video!
the important thing is. have you put a nice boot holder outside so you can keep the new machine clean inside in your socks? :)
What a fn great idea! Love it, you're brilliant. .or slippers inside.
When I used to run machines I would check fluids first thing, start the machines and grease and top up while they were warming up.
Take care of equipment, equipment take care of you.
Do you scrape all the dirt off the tracks as well? I do that every day as well as grease
Another awesome video, thank you. I spend the majority of my work day greasing and oiling at a saw mill, I love my Alemite cordless grease gun.
Maintenance is so important it would be nice if everyone did it....we all saw the craziness at the Florida auction.
..i always thought end of day service, involved a bartender and something cold and wet..lol ..good info on maintenance..
Chris- what kind of grease do you use?
So I just started working for this company and we have Volvos 250 and 380, I run my 380 hard all day. I really like this new cam setup it looks a lot better.
I have a Milwaukee grease gun as well, love the hell. out of it.!
Great maintenance video, well done! ....13
Where’s the lock in lube coupler?
I dream of a awesome job like this, love the videos! gives me hope that one day ill be able to operate a machine like this.
I need THIS kind of service truck. Nice.
Nice to see the 220 still has paint on the counter weight...
You really need to get a G-gun and never run out of grease. It’s a little costly but worth every penny I bought mine about a year ago and love it. Shit they might give you one.
How many gallons does it take to filler up?
Wouldt be more efficient to do this in the morning when you are waiting to machine warm up?
Beside not digging clay, what can I do to keep clay from gobbing up in my bucket ?
On our machines we use central lubrication. Once a month we fill them and then the machine greace it self, eacy and clean.
Young bettsy looking nice and clean
Chris, I know that you like to keep your engine covers and fuel caps secured to prevent any problems. Just thought you should know that Mercedes has a locking DEF cap that fits different DEF tanks.
Great videos, keep up the great work!
This cap locks as well
Silly hot machinery has to use def now. Do they regenerate as well?
What level of tint did you go with front & sides? Do you use it at night?
Wow I just asked him same question last week he sent me a text back same day 35% all around I was thinking of using pretty much same but was going to put a little later on front glad I spoke with him said it will look like a tunnel
Head cam like watching from an ADHD person's perspective. Lol
It does free you up to show more though, so for that, it's worth it.
Can you do a walk around of your truck, I like that setup. Can you two a gooseneck with it or are the toolboxes to high...?
You keep your equipment in shape doing so you know what issues there is if any
You don't need to grease the turn-table? Automatic lubricators like Trabon, would help you a lot!
Let that music play, just a small town boy, ( I think ) great videos and job.👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
i usually service first thing in the morning, end of the day i just wanna go home haha
i dont like spilling fuel or getting grease on my first thing in the morning
The machine is warmer at the end of the day so it's easier to grease.
Plus if the fuel tank is full of fuel you won’t ever get water in it.
Reminded me of Hardcore Henry when you were reloading your submachine gun...I mean grease gun lol
Do you set a pre determined amount of pulses with your Milwaukee grease gun
I still have that place a couple of miles away from there if y’all really need a place to take that stuff. You’d have to spread it though.
Send me a email. Letsdig18@yahoo.com with your info please
smart, rather than 1st thing in the am, you mentioned you service boom 1 or 2 a week, does that include bucket ?
What is that fluid for that you add each day? Just wondering
Beautiful stuff my friend
what grease brand you using,
Do you keep the trucks busy hauling or use just when you need them?
it usually stays busying moving equipment or materials to jobs
Can’t you leave the auto greasing connected and just take it off for the bucket? So that the only manual greasing is the stick. Or do the lines stick out to far even on the stick?
Also do they have an option so that everything on the machine is auto greasing.
How do you know when it’s full of grease and to stop?
Hey Chris.......What brand of hose reel is that your using for your fuel hose. Is it durable and would you recommend it?
Please help me with me, please I have excavator 240 I don't know the place where we used to Greece the pinion gear or main gear control the swinging. please help me thank you
Where the 220 is at in this video, is that the same pond where the Daewoo got buried years ago by any chance?
Great video. I just found you Chanel and it’s my new favorite. Question for you, I have noticed you have a Millwaukee grease gun and a Dewalt, what one do you like better? I am thinking about getting one.

Do you have a Lock n Lube grease gun attachment? I have seen them used, they are great and lock the grease hose on perfectly.
Yeah just haven't put it on

Very Nice machine(my pretty excavator)
What made you choose Volvo over Deere/Hitachi?
Could that sediment be screened and used for concrete mix?
W O W . . . Battery powered grease guns now... 👍😎
how do you not get a central lube system with a new machine like that? saves time and you cant forget about it.
Been watching your videos for a while now but this is the first time I've commented. I don't think I've found/seen anything in your videos that I disagree with. how much grease is enough?
You should use amsoil grease , u will be happy immediately after the use
At 7:25 what is he filling it up with and why?
which grease gun do you guys like most dewalt or milwaukee?
There no z in grease, what grease gun do you like better?
What grease are you using

That's a Northern tool compressor right? How do you like it?
@letsdig18 can you do a walkaround of yout work truck and what kind of bed is that i really like and want it for my work truck?
Dripping the diesel on the ground would be frowned upon as it takes years to recover from it. Avoid doing that.
What grease do you prefer?
YOU KNOW,
If you don't clean off those grease fittings OR the grease gun's dirty hose end fitting
you pump all that dirt into the joints you are greasing.
!
Hey Chris, you may know but if not I was told by one of my mechanics that DEF fluid has a shelf life and can cause serious problems if used after!!! It's ruining diesel engines. Just thought I'd let you know/
